I've been here a few times now. Staff is generally very good although I have had an issue one time which was quickly rectified by the management. The service is good, mostly a take out place. I needed lunch by noon so I decided to order from Haven Hot Chicken. I placed my order online for pickup at 11:15 AM, about 15 min after they opened. I got there a bit early, and it's a cute, small shop with cone counter seating. There was one person working who let me know my order would be ready soon, and told me to grab my drinks from the fridge! Soon after I got my food and was ready to go. I got the Mac and cheese bowl, with the chicken, opted for spice level "hot". The chicken was really well spiced, and I was pleasantly surprised! The Mac was well cooked, and cheesy. Service was good and the workers all seemed happy to be there. Food was good. To be honest the kids combo is the best deal there when dropping by for a quick lunch so that's what we got. We got in country level spice, one mild, and one hot (hot is pictured). I am not by any means good with spice so maybe I'm a little biased saying that the mild level spice was still pretty spicy. Officially obsessed! We tried Haven Hot Chicken once at a Superbowl party but this was my first visit to an actual location. I am forever changed! The Sandwich is a MUST order and it's HUGE! Definitely the biggest chicken thigh I've seen at a hot chicken place in CT. Their fries are hand cut and really crispy. And THE RANCH? Easily my favorite ranch... super dilly! The hot level was absolutely perfect, a great kick but not enough where I'm dying after. The coleslaw and pickles really cool it down in the best way. From Instagram, I was aware that Haven Hot was opening a second location in Orange. I did not intend to go there today. But unexpectedly, I drove right by it and happened to see the sign. I swear Officer. That's exactly how it happened. Stronger people than I have been unable to drive past Haven Hot Chicken. So I didn't even try. I ordered a 3 piece Mild "Tendies" for my 9 year old, who loved Haven Hot when he first tried it. Because I'm a spice-wuss who likes to pretend he's not a wuss, I ordered Medium. Execution was on par with New Haven. The Tendies are huge, tender, well-crisped and flavorful. The Medium heat level was no problem for me, but I doubt I'll level up. The Store was clean, but very active. Service was friendly, but since they're brand new, they're still trying to build up some muscle memory service-wise. Understandable. My go to is usually the Sandwich with a Coke. On the sandwich you get a good size piece of fries boneless chicken, their Rob sauce, some garlic-dill pickles, creamy vinegar slaw and your choice of heat on a potato roll. Is there a better selection than that?! I get the Haven style heat which is their hottest, perfect bite of spice and flavor. Rumor has it they have an off the menu heat, I don't think I would touch that but good to know! This location is new to Orange, plenty of parking available and they have a long counter you can eat at while overlooking the window if you would like to dine in.
