So glad I finally got to try this place! I couldn't on my first trip to Seattle, so this time, we made it a point to come here. The chocolate lava cake was the best ever and a must-try. I also enjoyed their apple cobbler. Lastly, their tomato bisque was just perfect for the cold weather. It's very spacious inside with some items for purchase. It's in an interesting plaza that's mainly wine tasting rooms. The parking lot is pretty small and cramped.

Missed out on trying this place when I was in Seattle last year but made my way back to finally trying hot cakes and I'm so glad I did! Loved the interior and vibe of this place, really chill place to catch up with friends and grab a small bite or dessert. The employees were nice and welcoming. Got the tomato soup and it was very tasty! I came specifically for the dark decadence and all I can say is WOW! So rich, so chocolatey! And paired so well with the ice cream. The best molten lava cake I have ever had! I wish we had this back home! If ever in the area, it's a must to stop by here for a dark decadence dessert!

did a full-on chris columbus with this one: didn't know where I was going when I started, wasn't sure where I was when I got there, no idea where I'd been when I left. HC-S is located in a bizarre little snack cul-de-sac in an odd post industrial area dripping noir across the midnight air early in spring. patchy fog and rainy mists rising from the warm pavement unsettle the accidental tourist as clusters of patrons hurry about in the shadowy dark, if only peter lorre were perched beside at the high top to complete the effect. feels like all eyes are on me as the pencil-thin serving girl brings out vanilla ice creams in a tall glass with a chilled bottle of boylan's free range rootbeer to tip and dribble while waiting for a connection who never shows... hard to get to, kind of spendy, hard to find my way home... other than that we're on the verge of fiveness.

I love this location and I love their dry burned caramel sauce! In fact, I come here specifically for the caramel sauce. The desserts are decadent, especially the molten cakes, which come with a side of ice cream. On this last visit, I had the Spumoni molten cake with a side of vanilla ice cream with the caramel sauce topped with pistachios. It was amazing! This is my favorite location in the SoDo Urban Works where there is free parking out front.

We were looking for a dessert place in Sodo and found this place on Yelp. The restaurant is very cute with nice lighting and industrial design. We tried the hotcake flight with 3 mini ones and 3 tiniest scope of ice cream. We knew the cake would be small but didn't think that it was like one bite or so size. I can taste that the quality ingredients however for the price, the portion is unbelievably small. The scope is like thumb size.

I am not much of a dessert person but because I don't consume sweet things often, I tend to really enjoy them more than I should! I have been here before it was Hot Cakes ... This location used to be some sort of a bar before...many years ago but I have to say the developers did an amazing job. There are now various wine tasting rooms, a couple of restaurants and this dessert place! Parking is in a bit of shortage though. Great service, great venue, and most importantly their molten cake was amazing. My group ordered Dark Decadence and Strawberry molten cakes and both came with the same molten cake but ice cream favors were different. We asked the server if they make their ice cream in house and they told us they source it locally. They do make their cakes and vegan ice cream in house. One thing though is their prices are very (very) expensive for what you get. Definitely not a place I would be revisiting by myself but it's a must for dessert lovers. They also serve a limited list of local wines and beers. I think they also had a bourbon as well. I don't remember it was from a local distillery or not.

Hot Cakes in SoDo is one of my favorite spots when I'm craving something rich and a little over-the-top. They always have fun seasonal specials -- the molten cakes are amazing, but their ice cream creations are just as good. Big bonus: they do boozy treats like spiked milkshakes, which are just plain fun. They're also famous for their s'mores, which you can enjoy there or grab as a take-home kit to make later -- such a cool gift idea or rainy-day treat. A lot of the magic comes from the people making it happen. Sean Reiter, their saucier, has been there for years and keeps coming up with new flavors that somehow always hit the mark. Brittney, the head pastery chef, clearly knows her stuff , everything that comes out of her kitchen looks great and tastes spot on. The SoDo space has that cool, open, industrial feel and plenty of room to hang out. I also love their Ballard location -- smaller, but with the same great menu and friendly vibe. If you're in the mood to treat yourself, this is the place. Order a seasonal special, get a boozy shake, and don't skip the s'mores.

Where do you go in Sodo after some spicy wings, a slice of pizza, or just for a good pieces of dessert? Tonight the kid and I chose hot cakes! We both got the dark decadence and I also grabbed a Blondie...sorry, a brown butter blondie...for later... The kid said that his was too much liquid and needed to be cooked more. I thought having a thin crust and decadent dark chocolate inside was incredibly delicious!

We came in on a Thu afternoon, waiting for them to open at 3pm. The facility was spacious. The staff was friendly. They had free wifi. The desserts were super good and ice cream was perfect for the summer. Parking was easy as there was a parking lot. Def will go back for their Happy Hour Thu and Fri 4-6pm!

Omg. What deliciousness! We happened to be next door at the seltzery place and somehow half of people had gone somewhere only to find out they were exploring the chocolate place next door. We tried the smores cookie and their dark decadence. Omg! The flavors are out of this world. It may seem like a small portion but oh wow it was a lot even for 2 adults and one 6 year old to finish ahhahaha thr decadence was so rich and heavy and indulging - be ready to share! Would be back in a heartbeat just for this!

Went despite the bad reviews and so glad because it was delicious! We got the gooey molten cake and tomato soup and it was soooo amazing

We came here as an after anniversary date dessert and it was pretty good! We did the sampler which we loved all of them besides the s'mores which was sad because I was expecting that one to be my favorite but their "burnt marshmallow" flavor had a weird Smokey burn taste, not an actual toasted marshmallow taste. But everything else was amazing! It does take bit of time for them to make if so plan on finding a seat and enjoying each others company while you wait for your treats to be made. It's definitely a cute little dessert date spot with other restaurants near by you can eat at for dinner before coming here. :)

If you wanna nice place to try different, decadent desserts, then look no further! Located in Sodoworks, this place serves up hot molten cake with ice cream. They even had a chocolate chip.cookie option for those who don't like chocolate cake. I tried the sampler so I could taste three different types of molten cakes. As much I love chocolate, I found it weird that I preferred the peanut butter cup option the most. The cakes were hot and the ice cream helped with the richness of the chocolate. If you venture to Sodoworks for wine tasting and food, drop in here if you love chocolate! They will not disappoint!

Cake descriptions on the website but you have to go in for slice and cupcake availability- you can't pre-order slices. The shop is easy to get to with ample close parking. Inside is cute and industrial. The shop folks were lovely as well, really warm and inviting. We selected 4 slices- malted chocolate, blackout cake, funfetti, and carrot pineapple. All the whole cakes were simply decorated, but beautiful. The hubs said his funfetti cake was okay, but not outstanding. I thought it was more of a white butter cake with nice chewy sprinkles. Delicious, but maybe not the explosion he was expecting. A classic birthday cake, elevated. The blackout cake has a really rich flavor without being overwhelming- a more milk chocolate Matilda cake vibe. The carrot pineapple is pretty much a perfect carrot cake- not spice or nut, but CARROT, in the most beautiful way. The buttercream on the carrot cake is the best I can remember having- butter flavor and a smooth, sweet cream taste. But all those accolades aside- the chocolate malt cake is, simply put, the cake I would go back for. The cake itself is a perfect, moist chocolate malt flavor, without an artificial tasting aftertaste. The frosting is if they made the inside of a malted milk chocolate candy into a light, fluffy buttercream, without the cloying sweetness. I am not a huge sweets person, but cake is a special weakness. This may be the best cakery I've been to- and one I will gladly pay for.

When learning they're sold out of the PB&J, I asked the cashier which slice I should get with the options I gave her. She suggested the salted caramel slice. The salted caramel slice was really gross. As if it was or almost foul. The cake had a flavor of acidity and expiration. Maybe thought there was rum or some type of alcohol in the slice, but there isn't. I was happy when they gave an extra caramel slice on the house but after a bite, no thank you. I couldn't finish the bite & it really disappointed us as it was my bf's birthday celebration. The cupcake was quite delicious as it had a nutty texture jam on the inside. Cake was soft, wasn't so sweet and loved the mixture of texture. The seasonal key lime slice was yummy. Super light graham cake flavor, good dense cake. Not so flavorful but it wasn't as disappointing as the other one. The lime flavor was the only star of the slice. After being excited to try this place for months, and after so many attempts at trying this bakery- this may not be a go to spot for me. Avg $11-11.50 per slice

Small slices of cakes are available, and notices around mention to call ahead of time if you want larger sizes of those same cakes. We both decided to share their rainbow cake, which is a three-layer strawberry, lime and orange along with guava, lime and passion fruit flavored layers on top. Not much to say about this other than despite all these sweet profiles coming together, no one flavor outshined another flavor, and overall cake wasn't too sweet, surprisingly. One slice for $7.45 before tax is oddly huge even for the two of us to finish though, so this cake is definitely not best eaten alone; it's too good for that anyway! My favorite layer was the guava layer for how sweet yet mild it was. I've come back before for birthday cakes, and now I can see myself also coming back casually for their other cakes!
