Visited on a late night. Location is tucked into a business complex in SODO. The aesthetic is very industrial. The store is spacious with a garage door that I can only imagine would be nice to open on summer days. I ordered their s'mores cake. It can either come in a smoked cake or their dark decadence. I went with the dark decadence. It comes with a toasted marshmallow, graham cracker (house made?), and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on a bed of chocolate sauce. This was *so* decadent. I wanted something sweet yet warm since the weather was getting cold. This would pair nicely with a warm drink which I would get next visit. Curious to try their cookies & ice cream next time. I have a few minor hiccups with my visit. One issue fell with the compostable bowl. I like that it's an earth conscious item, but also it's hard to scrape all the cake without feeling like you are going to get the bowl material scraped off with it. The other thing would their restrooms. You need to go outside the store into another door near the winery next door. It just felt a little sketch late at night. Have been to hot cakes a couple of times. Definitely a popular place and it works out that this is a sit down dessert spot that is open late in the area. I do think the selection of desserts here are limited and is expensive of the quantity they provide. I've been going here for the past 5 years and it has been the same few things on the menu and the price is steep. Recommend this place for its ambiance and service. read more

So glad I finally got to try this place! I couldn't on my first trip to Seattle, so this time, we made it a point to come here. The chocolate lava cake was the best ever and a must-try. I also enjoyed their apple cobbler. Lastly, their tomato bisque was just perfect for the cold weather. It's very spacious inside with some items for purchase. Missed out on trying this place when I was in Seattle last year but made my way back to finally trying hot cakes and I'm so glad I did! Loved the interior and vibe of this place, really chill place to catch up with friends and grab a small bite or dessert. The employees were nice and welcoming. Got the tomato soup and it was very tasty! I came specifically for the dark decadence and all I can say is WOW! So rich, so chocolatey! And paired so well with the ice cream. I've been to Hot Cakes - Ballard multiple times, but I hadn't tried the Hot Cakes - SoDo location yet, so I decided to check it out this time. The vibe is really nice it's close to several wineries and a pizza spot, making it a perfect treat after a wine tasting. Compared to Ballard, this location feels much quieter, which I really liked. I ordered the gooey brownie cake with ice cream always a hit and it definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. I love this location and I love their dry burned caramel sauce! In fact, I come here specifically for the caramel sauce. The desserts are decadent, especially the molten cakes, which come with a side of ice cream. On this last visit, I had the Spumoni molten cake with a side of vanilla ice cream with the caramel sauce topped with pistachios. It was amazing! We were looking for a dessert place in Sodo and found this place on Yelp. The restaurant is very cute with nice lighting and industrial design. We tried the hotcake flight with 3 mini ones and 3 tiniest scope of ice cream. We knew the cake would be small but didn't think that it was like one bite or so size. I am not much of a dessert person but because I don't consume sweet things often, I tend to really enjoy them more than I should! I have been here before it was Hot Cakes ... This location used to be some sort of a bar before...many years ago but I have to say the developers did an amazing job. There are now various wine tasting rooms, a couple of restaurants and this dessert place! Parking is in a bit of shortage though. Great service, great venue, and most importantly their molten cake was amazing. My group ordered Dark Decadence and Strawberry molten cakes and both came with the same molten cake but ice cream favors were different. We asked the server if they make their ice cream in house and they told us they source it locally. They do make their cakes and vegan ice cream in house. One thing though is their prices are very (very) expensive for what you get. Definitely not a place I would be revisiting by myself but it's a must for dessert lovers. Hot Cakes in SoDo is one of my favorite spots when I'm craving something rich and a little over-the-top. They always have fun seasonal specials -- the molten cakes are amazing, but their ice cream creations are just as good. Big bonus: they do boozy treats like spiked milkshakes, which are just plain fun. Brittney, the head pastery chef, clearly knows her stuff , everything that comes out of her kitchen looks great and tastes spot on. We came here as an after anniversary date dessert and it was pretty good! We did the sampler which we loved all of them besides the s'mores which was sad because I was expecting that one to be my favorite but their "burnt marshmallow" flavor had a weird Smokey burn taste, not an actual toasted marshmallow taste. I'm so excited about this location. We have been to the Ballard location, but this is much closer. One thing that I was super excited to try is the hot cake flight! This is the only location that offers them. You can choose 3 different flavors, excluding the monthly special. I chose the s'mores, dark decadent, and the gooey brownbrownie. The dark decadent and gooey brownie were my all-time fave! My mother got the same with the exception on the strawberry option instead of the s'more. They are very rich, so having the smaller cakes makes them much easier to actually enjoy. My partner got the salted caramel, which was the monthly special. It was delicious, but very rich. His was full size. For the price, these are great! Again, they are rich and baked fresh, so definitely worth it! The space itself was super cute, next to wine tasting and seltzer tasting. Also, there was a pizza spot nearby as well. Overall, this is a great location, and the fact that they offer flights is a WINNER in my book. I highly recommend it! If you're looking for a place for hot cakes, their Sodo location is the place to go. It's not busy, but even if it is, there are breweries, wineries, and taverns nearby. However, if that doesn't fit your fancy, they serve their milkshakes immediately after they're prepared. The dessert screams summer. Loved the combo. The host was gracious. We ended up walking in 20 mins before close after getting stuck in a Mariners game traffic slowdown.
