    Dark Decadence
    Han N.

Missed out on trying this place when I was in Seattle last year but made my way back to finally trying hot cakes and I'm so glad I did! Loved the interior and vibe of this place, really chill place to catch up with friends and grab a small bite or dessert. The employees were nice and welcoming. Got the tomato soup and it was very tasty! I came specifically for the dark decadence and all I can say is WOW! So rich, so chocolatey! And paired so well with the ice cream. The best molten lava cake I have ever had! I wish we had this back home! If ever in the area, it's a must to stop by here for a dark decadence dessert!

did a full-on chris columbus with this one: didn't know where I was going when I started, wasn't sure where I was when I got there, no idea where I'd been when I left. HC-S is located in a bizarre little snack cul-de-sac in an odd post industrial area dripping noir across the midnight air early in spring. patchy fog and rainy mists rising from the warm pavement unsettle the accidental tourist as clusters of patrons hurry about in the shadowy dark, if only peter lorre were perched beside at the high top to complete the effect. feels like all eyes are on me as the pencil-thin serving girl brings out vanilla ice creams in a tall glass with a chilled bottle of boylan's free range rootbeer to tip and dribble while waiting for a connection who never shows... hard to get to, kind of spendy, hard to find my way home... other than that we're on the verge of fiveness.

I love this location and I love their dry burned caramel sauce! In fact, I come here specifically for the caramel sauce. The desserts are decadent, especially the molten cakes, which come with a side of ice cream. On this last visit, I had the Spumoni molten cake with a side of vanilla ice cream with the caramel sauce topped with pistachios. It was amazing! This is my favorite location in the SoDo Urban Works where there is free parking out front.

We were looking for a dessert place in Sodo and found this place on Yelp. The restaurant is very cute with nice lighting and industrial design. We tried the hotcake flight with 3 mini ones and 3 tiniest scope of ice cream. We knew the cake would be small but didn't think that it was like one bite or so size. I can taste that the quality ingredients however for the price, the portion is unbelievably small. The scope is like thumb size.

I am not much of a dessert person but because I don't consume sweet things often, I tend to really enjoy them more than I should! I have been here before it was Hot Cakes ... This location used to be some sort of a bar before...many years ago but I have to say the developers did an amazing job. There are now various wine tasting rooms, a couple of restaurants and this dessert place! Parking is in a bit of shortage though. Great service, great venue, and most importantly their molten cake was amazing. My group ordered Dark Decadence and Strawberry molten cakes and both came with the same molten cake but ice cream favors were different. We asked the server if they make their ice cream in house and they told us they source it locally. They do make their cakes and vegan ice cream in house. One thing though is their prices are very (very) expensive for what you get. Definitely not a place I would be revisiting by myself but it's a must for dessert lovers. They also serve a limited list of local wines and beers. I think they also had a bourbon as well. I don't remember it was from a local distillery or not.

Hot Cakes in SoDo is one of my favorite spots when I'm craving something rich and a little over-the-top. They always have fun seasonal specials -- the molten cakes are amazing, but their ice cream creations are just as good. Big bonus: they do boozy treats like spiked milkshakes, which are just plain fun. They're also famous for their s'mores, which you can enjoy there or grab as a take-home kit to make later -- such a cool gift idea or rainy-day treat. A lot of the magic comes from the people making it happen. Sean Reiter, their saucier, has been there for years and keeps coming up with new flavors that somehow always hit the mark. Brittney, the head pastery chef, clearly knows her stuff , everything that comes out of her kitchen looks great and tastes spot on. The SoDo space has that cool, open, industrial feel and plenty of room to hang out. I also love their Ballard location -- smaller, but with the same great menu and friendly vibe. If you're in the mood to treat yourself, this is the place. Order a seasonal special, get a boozy shake, and don't skip the s'mores.

Where do you go in Sodo after some spicy wings, a slice of pizza, or just for a good pieces of dessert? Tonight the kid and I chose hot cakes! We both got the dark decadence and I also grabbed a Blondie...sorry, a brown butter blondie...for later... The kid said that his was too much liquid and needed to be cooked more. I thought having a thin crust and decadent dark chocolate inside was incredibly delicious!

We came in on a Thu afternoon, waiting for them to open at 3pm. The facility was spacious. The staff was friendly. They had free wifi. The desserts were super good and ice cream was perfect for the summer. Parking was easy as there was a parking lot. Def will go back for their Happy Hour Thu and Fri 4-6pm!

Omg. What deliciousness! We happened to be next door at the seltzery place and somehow half of people had gone somewhere only to find out they were exploring the chocolate place next door. We tried the smores cookie and their dark decadence. Omg! The flavors are out of this world. It may seem like a small portion but oh wow it was a lot even for 2 adults and one 6 year old to finish ahhahaha thr decadence was so rich and heavy and indulging - be ready to share! Would be back in a heartbeat just for this!

We came here as an after anniversary date dessert and it was pretty good! We did the sampler which we loved all of them besides the s'mores which was sad because I was expecting that one to be my favorite but their "burnt marshmallow" flavor had a weird Smokey burn taste, not an actual toasted marshmallow taste. But everything else was amazing! It does take bit of time for them to make if so plan on finding a seat and enjoying each others company while you wait for your treats to be made. It's definitely a cute little dessert date spot with other restaurants near by you can eat at for dinner before coming here. :)

Went despite the bad reviews and so glad because it was delicious! We got the gooey molten cake and tomato soup and it was soooo amazing

If you wanna nice place to try different, decadent desserts, then look no further! Located in Sodoworks, this place serves up hot molten cake with ice cream. They even had a chocolate chip.cookie option for those who don't like chocolate cake. I tried the sampler so I could taste three different types of molten cakes. As much I love chocolate, I found it weird that I preferred the peanut butter cup option the most. The cakes were hot and the ice cream helped with the richness of the chocolate. If you venture to Sodoworks for wine tasting and food, drop in here if you love chocolate! They will not disappoint!

    Molten mini cake trio
    Pranav K.

New molten cake location alert! Pretty spacious and set in a nice area of several restaurants, aka nine pies pizza, new seltzer and wine tasting saloons etc. BUT the kicker is that they have a mini molten cake trio option! You get to try 3 different flavors and this is the missing thing in my life or atleast at this place. ONLY available here! Come and get it. The 2 ladies were super friendly too.

Parking wasn't that easy but we made it 10 minutes later. Car was extremely hot after coming back. Look at the right side when coming inside Menu is there. Some thing would be gone by mid-day. Coffe was good as well as the quinoa salad and the pizza round. The best was the mushroom sandwich. The down side was the breakfast sandwich. OMG, what's in it?? It's a mix of something like egg cause it is orange in a square shape. I guess is that "liquid egg" mix. Which most of the times isn't egg. Had some poppy seeds? And then realized: could it be the vegeterian version? Why calling it egg then?? The smell was the opposite of appetizing. I ordered them for children and they had some flakes. Not a big deal this, but I wouldn't recommend something that simple on paper, but not in plate. 3 small tables downstairs in the middle of the hall. Seating is extended upstairs. Cool inside. Very warm outside during summer. Water stations on both stories. Staff was OK. They won't answer back even when only waiting for a sandwich to come out of the oven. This was hilarious. Not even at Starbucks. The big "but" for my party is going with kids. Having to take them down and upstairs everytime when ordering or picking up stuff. Because, let me tell you, there is a lack of empathy at this place. You'll have to sort it out with a baby and toddler on one hand, and tray, cups, utensils, second tray, coffee, salad, and miscellaneous on the other hand. Yes...you read right. And bringing all upstairs on as many rounds as you can. While baristas (3 baristas to make coffee and warm sandwiches) were chatting. The bright side: 2 were preparing food for next day :) Fortunately, another patron came to the rescue. She was chatting with their party and was a great samaritan for standing up, helping with the door, and bringing one of the trays. Tip: let water run a bit in yhe restroom. I got burned. I guess it was a bit stalled and sun didn't help :( Price and tip are not cheap! Would I come back? Definitely no!

I noticed that they now pour drinks from a pre-made plastic jug instead of making them fresh like when the store first opened. I usually don't get sick from drinking coffee but twice in a row is pretty bad. Their drinks are also overly sweet and most of them do not have a 0% sweet option, which is usually what I order from other coffee and tea shops, and it's probably because most of the ingredients are pre-mixed. They also use thick plastic cups, considering that Seattle is a pretty green city and a lot of similar Vietnamese coffee shops use sustainable cups. It shares a parking lot with what looks like a defunct Rainier Beer Brewery building, though parking here was nearly packed near this location when I got here. Interior is very pink, very cute and very casual with semi-loud music and an environment that invites the laptop crowd to crowd in but without as much strength. There's also a drive-thru here, and the two baristas working the counter were super efficient dividing their time between the orders there and the orders coming from regular cafe patrons like myself! They were also pretty patient with me and other customers after me as I was still deciding what i wanted. They offer a wide variety of options from their signature coffees to healthier drinks and even some pastries and merch. You can get their drinks in various sizes, and the larger the size the more espresso shots it will have. With that said, I got their 16oz (2 shots of espresso) iced toffee butter macchiato with regular milk, and I could feel the espresso hitting me as I quickly downed the drink like I usually do. There's a little bit of sweetness from the caramel and toffee, and of course a strong caramel touch that actually stays on level with their coffee, which doesn't take over any of the taste added in. What a nice coffee place to stop at along a road that I travel often! I would so grab another one of their signature drinks when I come back here.
