My husband and I frequent hop jacks for date nights and we always have a great experience. Tonight, however, was one of the worst times we've experienced going out to eat. The food is always amazing, (if I could give stars for the food, it would be 5/5) as it was tonight, but our server Lisa was absolutely awful. I worked as a server for many years and would've been fired for the service we received tonight if I was wearing that name tag. We weren't greeted or acknowledged for several minutes, although there were four employees sitting in the bar folding silverware. Our first choice was not to sit at the bar, but there was no one to seat us, so we decided to seat ourselves in the bar. Upon several minutes of waiting, we were finally greeted with a "I didn't see you come in" and with none of the usual welcoming hop jacks spirit. We received our drinks, and decided to go with happy hour food since we didn't receive menus.( we were offered with "did you want a menu?") Only after we had sat waiting for our drinks. Once our food arrived, our drinks were near empty. We were not offered a refill, and didn't even have time to ask for one, because she set the plates down and immediately turned away. After we had finished our food and drinks (without checking on us once) , we waited for our check, but she walked by our table twice after we had finished. She stood in the front doorway talking with another employee while we waited patiently for our check. We paid the bill and left. Some of this would be understandable if the restaurant was busy, but the bar was maybe half as busy on a Friday night as it usually is when we normally come in. If the normal survey had been placed in the check book like it usually is, I would have filled it out and handed it to her personally. We are very unhappy with the service and leaving your customer to feel ignored is a number one DO NOT in the restaurant industry. read more

we were really interested in coming here for brunch, but we didn't realize that brunch ended at 11am (and we got there a little after 11 - boo). large restaurants with lots of seating options. i love that their booths are extremely large - we fit our party of 5 very very comfortably, although getting up to go to the restroom did pose quite a bit of a challenge, especially towards the end of the meal. We opted for sandwiches and burgers for our lunch. nice big servings and their home made chips on the side. and i really enjoyed their chips - nice thickness and very crunchy. i had their guacamole burger which held up very nicely, despite how large the burger was. i actually ended up eating it open faced 1/4 through my meal, and i didn't even finish it all the way. our party also tried their calamari, grilled cheese sandwich (nice and crispy/crunchy bread - just how grilled cheeses should be) and their western burger - all quite good. But i think that's where it ends really - everything was just good. Nothing stood out as amazing or wonderful about the food, service, or location. I'd come back if we were in the area - and maybe come back to try their brunch menu - but i wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. read more

TERRIBLE service and attitude. I previously rated this place a full 5 stars. I regret it. I've consistently come to this place every month. Probably spending hundreds on food here because of how convenient it is across the street. I'd think that the business would be appreciated. Most of our orders are to go. This time, I placed our order and was told 10-15 minutes. They've been late on our food before, so I gave them an extra 5. After walking in, I was greeted briefly, then 10 minutes later finally checked our. After spending another 10 minutes staring at the staff while they just stared back, the food was finally ready. Walked it across the street only to find out, one of the plates was missing. FINALLY after one hour of calling In our order. We sat down and ate. This has happened many times, but this was it. We went here on an impromptu whim to watch a football game a while back, and were sorely disappointed, and we had pretty low expectations in the first place. It was crowded, and even after requesting to be seated to view a TV, they set us up in a corner after 15 minutes of waiting. We were enticed to try bottomless lemonade cause there were so many flavors but man....it was waaay too sweet...bottoming out would get you type 2 diabetes real quick. The food was pretty terrible too, and that's comparing it to other bar food. It was more pretentious than the usual bar fare, but somehow they managed to make it even greasier and less appetizing. The quesadilla was completed drenched in their drizzled (understatement) sauce which seeped out as oil on the tortilla and crusty on top, their hummus has a strange aftertaste to it and their fries were soggy and cold by the time it got to our table. We ate what we could and took the rest in a to go box home and by the next morning, there was a pool of oil on everything. Overall, not impressed. read more

Every time I visit my family down in Lacey, I always have to visit hop jacks as well. Comfy place, great food and drinks! My favorite is the white gummy bear martini, must try if you have a sweet tooth. My experience at the bar was much different than being out on the main floor. On the main floor, my partner's beer wasn't cold and the service was bad. One time our waiter spent a ton of his time hitting on girls at a booth than to do his job, we had to ask several times for ketchup, unprofessional. They are getting 4 stars because I love their martinis in the ice cup. read more

First this place has terrible service. I'm at the bar and the girl just can't be bothered to answer what's on the tv for another customer so I answer. I order a grilled cheese with tots. Grill cheese is cold and can tell it was sitting under the light. The tots are warm but super greasy. Not once have I been checked on since my food arrived. Save yourself the hassle and just go to sonic or any other drive thru. This place is over priced and low quality. read more

If your favorite restaurants are Red Robin (corporate menus with slightly creative but typically disappointing food) and Applebees ('local' chains with an emphasis on sports)- this is the place for you! But, if you're more like me, then you'll write a review wishing Yelp had a 2 1/2 star rating. The atmosphere was loud and very casual- that's not a negative, it's just worth mentioning. Our waiter, Frankie, was super casual. He was attentive and timely with our order, but I didn't love that he spoke to us like we were his buddies at a football game. Even in a low-key place such as this, I would appreciate a little more formality from a waiter. The food was fine. I ordered the garlic fries on the suggestion of some of the reviews here, and they were okay. They were not homemade, it was obvious that they were from a bag in the freezer. The garlic was fresh and flavorful, but they didn't add flat-leaf parsley (the light, citrus flavor of which, I think, adds a brightness that the heavy garlic fry needs) and I missed it. We also had the Spinach Dip (don't bother, it was pretty bland), Black Bean Veggie Burger (tasted great, but was really messy due to avocado slices, as opposed to the more appropriate mashed avocado) and Side Salad (it and the balsamic dressing were both fine). So, overall- meh. Another corporate American food joint that is just a little 'off' from being great. read more

Food gets an A! Everytime we have been there we have had great meals. Wait staff very attentive and friendly. My only issue, the noise level of the music and the tvs are a bit loud. It is hard to have a conversation with someone right next to you let alone have a group of 8-10. I felt like I was having to repeat myself or shout the whole time. And most times I was giving the "smile and nod" because I couldn't hear what someone was saying. And just to note, I'm 35 years old with no hearing problems....except for the occasional tune out when my husband is talking. read more

Its not super original and you're probably not going to find that one dish that totally blows your mind. But they have good burgers, several beers on tap, and service is reasonable quick. They kind of fall somewhere between full on sports bar and full restaurant even if it does get a little noisy. Been there twice so far, good experience both times. I had a pretty good time here with my friends. It was pretty busy for a thursday night, but it was winter break after all. We got seated pretty quick however, not too long of a wait. I decided to get the strawberry lemonade and some fried pickles to start, they were both delicious. The pickles could have been done a bit better though, some were all sticking together. For my last meal I choose the Morning burger, which had an egg, bacon and all the yummies. I subbed out the tomato for avocado and it was sublime. My wife and I loved this place on our first visit a week ago. We said "We will be back". I went there yesterday around 4 or 5 pm and my experience was a lot different. The manager must not have been around. I watched my salad sitting in the window for almost 10 minutes. I had to ask the bar tender (named "Sho") for my salad and let her know that it has been there for 10 minutes. I had also ordered Buffalo Wings. She brought my salad and I asked if that was my wings sitting in the window. She said "Probably" and left for about 20 munites. So after another 5 minutes, someone took initiative to deliver food and brought "Boneless Buffalo Wings". I said I ordered "Buffalo Wings" and Kevin said "Those are Buffalo Wings!!". I looked at the menu, and sure enough there was "Boneless Buffalo Wings" and "Buffalo Wings". I said again that "I ordered Buffalo Wings, not Boneless Buffalo Wings". On top of the bar tenders Kevin and Sho doing some almost inappropriate touching and flirting, this became too much. I paid my bill and left. Wow! What happened???? read more

Not only was the wait staff poor and a mediocre meal, now they are tacking on a "service fee" of 2% because they can't take the wait staff tips to give to the cooks. What??? So when I checked the tab, the 2% was calculated on the drinks as well as the meals and the TAX. When I questioned them on this I got blank looks. Drinks are decent. My glass had a hole in it, so when I tipped it up my drink spilled everywhere. I ordered the flat iron steak, medium and a side salad. Steak was a shoe sole. Totally overdone and inedible. My salad came after my steak and after third bite I found a hair in it, so had to stop eating. They did take salad off the bill which I really appreciated. The best part of my meal was the fried pickles with ranch. So delicious. I ordered the Chicken Tender Salad for $12. The size of the Salad was more like a side salad (see my pics) The chicken "tenders" were not tender and were unlike any traditional chicken tender I have had. They were also over cooked and stringy. My salad included several pieces of pita bread, which was somewhat odd. My daughter enjoyed her Mac and Cheese and gives it a 3.5 out of 5 stars. My aunt also enjoyed her BLT. read more

My husb & I came over during happy hour after a long hike. I was self conscious about our appearance wearing sweats & tshirts. But our server Lauren did not treat us any different. She was super attentive and didn't make us feel like how we looked. This made us enjoy our visit.
