I've been going to Hop and Drops before it changed it's name from Hop Jacks, but even with the name change I still love this place. It's my number 1 restaurant and I can't get enough of it! There are two location in Spokane and both are wonderful! The staff is well trained and always knowledgeable about the dishes as well as friendly. My favorite item to order is their nachos with home made potato chips where I change the blue cheese for cheered. They layer it perfectly and have complimentary flavors all over it: chives, cheese, corn, tomatoes all the stuff! It then comes with their home made garlic ranch that I always get extra of because I like to take some home with me for my left overs (which heat up perfectly in the oven)! Some of the other dishes that I like are their Western berger, Southwest BBQ salad, Chicken noodle soup, and Big Tony's BBQ Mac. They also have 24oz lemonades that come in a large variety of flavors that are FREE refills!! We went for breakfast this morning, they only do breakfast on Saturday and Sundays. It was clean and the staff were all friendly. My husband had a meat lovers breakfast burrito and really liked the flavor it had. He commented several times about how good it was. I had the Eggs Benedict which was good enough, the hash browns were done right and the coffee was filled fast. It was overall a good experience for both of us, and I'm sure we will eat there again soon. read more

Breakfast was a real disappointment! We have always enjoyed happy hour at Hop Jacks: good drinks, tasty snacks at a good price and it used to be good service. We tried breakfast this morning...and it fell short from the start to the finish! No one was even at the front desk. We found a table (there were only 2 others in the restaurant at the bar drinking)....we found our own menus. No one seemed to care that we were there to eat! Then...the food was not good. I had an omelette that was "ok" with grilled chicken and grilled onions...but the hash browns were greasy and tasted "odd". My biscuit was so cold I couldn't even melt butter on it! My husband had biscuits and gravy and the gravy was ok....but nothing excellent. We had a pop and a Bloody Mary....and our bill was over $30 for poor food and service! I won't go back for breakfast and now I'm worried about going for Happy Hour! read more

I've been going to this Hop Jack's for the last four years for happy hour. The drinks are great and so is the food. All of the staff is great and friendly. My favorite bartender/server is Erika. She always has my drink waiting on the counter when I get there and is sure to welcome me with a friendly hello. Keep up the great work! read more

Our last visit was disappointing. The waitress messed up several orders. We all had to ask for water refills several times. And when she did fill our glasses, only one person got the refill. The food was blah. The breakfast sausage looked like a hockey puck and bounced like a rubber ball. Probably won't be back for a long long time. read more

Hop Jack's recently opened in Spokane so my fiancee and I decided to give it a shot since we live less than 5 minutes from it. I would have to say this place has one of the best happy hours (offered 3-6 and 9-close) that we have ever been to. My fiancee is a big fan of mixed drinks and they have some of the best combinations of those in Spokane. For $5.50 you get a drink that comes with the mixer the bartender used to make it which amounts to 2 or 3 refills. The drinks are served in these awesome ice glasses as well. The beer selection is pretty good but the happy hour prices for beer are not as good as the prices for the other drinks. I believe I paid $4 a glass for my beers. They also offer discounted food during happy hour. We ended up getting a huge plate of garlic fries for $5 but they have apps that start at $3.50 and go up to certain entree style items for around $8. The fries were really good and fresh. We were too full to try anything else this time around. The only thing we didn't enjoy about Hop Jack's was the atmosphere. Since it is a new establishment, there were not too many people there. Hopefully as word spreads more people will come and hang out because the drinks and food here are great. I would definitely rate Hop Jack's 5 stars if there were more people at the time we went. read more

This use to be one of my favorite regular places to visit but this has changed after a recent visit. $5 for a pint of craft beer in the past was already pushing my threshold. My wife and I were stunned recently when we got our bill to find it was now $5.75 a pint. Ridiculous. Ok they can charge whatever the market will bear, but we'll be sipping water in the future IF we ever go back, because: We get home from our recent visit and notice a 2% "kitchen surcharge" on our bill? Wow really? Too cheap to pay your kitchen staff a decent wage and want to sneakily dump it off on unsuspecting customers? Dont know how we missed that. Just not something we ever thought we'd have to look for. And there's sure no disclosure anywhere about this prior to the customer ordering so that the customer might make an INFORMED decision before ordering. So don't know if we'll go back. We don't care for sneaky business practices. But if we do we'll ask that the surcharge be removed and if they won't, the tip will be adjusted accordingly. read more

The wait staff was so kind! There was no wait for breakfast on a Saturday when every other place was 30-40 minutes. The food was a bit pricier than expected or necessary, but the portions were well sized. If you don't like crispy bacon then you should pick a different meat. read more

We went there with out of town guests for a family celebration and a waiter accidentally spilled a drink on one of our group. The staff was so horrified they were so apologetic. The manager even covered our dinner. They were so kind and our food and drinks were delicious. They gave us every consideration to make us feel valued as customers. New favourite place to stop in. We were part of a large party (24), and our server was quick, polite, and super efficient. They should clone him. All of the staff were terrific. I indulged in a bacon cheese burger and delighted in the hand-formed patty and generous amount of bacon and cheese. My dining partner had the BLT+A (bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado on ciabatta). She was very happy with her sandwich, and we both loved their fries. They crispy, fluffy on the inside and seasoned perfectly. Everyone at our table really enjoyed their meals. Next time, I'm going in for dinner so I can take advantage of a delightful-looking drinks menu. read more

First time here. We wanted to try something different and always drive by it, but never stopped in. Figured we'd give it a shot. She got the pulled pork Mac and Cheese and I got the meatloaf. She enjoyed hers, I tried and thought it was pretty good also. The meatloaf was good but a little salty for my taste. It came with a side of tater tots that were plain. Would've been better with a signature seasoning, cheese on top of them, or spruced up somehow. Price wasn't bad, $40 for 2 dinners and 2 drinks (pop & lemonade). Our waitress name was Joan. She is absolutely fantastic. My son who is picky and six years old didn't like his cheeseburger. She happened to overhear that and offered to get him switched out for chicken strips. At no extra charge! I never asked and wouldn't have ever mentioned it. I had already to give her a great review. I've been here multiple times and I love everything they have to offer. The white gummy bear martini is delicious. My go to food options are the BBQ chicken salad, the potato chip nachos, and boneless chipotle BBQ chicken wings. Everyone is always super friendly and willing to deal with my picky orders. Great place for food and a friendly get together. The staff is very personable, the food is perfect 98% of the time and the atmosphere is nice. You can watch a game on the teli but you don't have to yell and scream to hear your friends. I personally recommend the Black and Bleu Burger with Garlic fries and all their drinks are fantastic as well. I have not only gone out with friends, but brought the husband and three kids as well. We have been going here since they opened. The beer is COLD and the pub food excellent. But really it's the staff that makes this particular location the best! Went for lunch and was disappointed with the size of the steak salad. It had been a few months (maybe closer to 6) since I had last been in and had the salad. It used to be offered in a small and large size. It now comes in one size for $17.75 (!) This salad was small, not much larger than a side salad with some steak thrown on top. I'd say there was 1- 1 1/2 cups lettuce and maaaybe 10 small pieces of steak, which some were grisly and one was all fat. When I've had it in the past, it was very filling, almost too large (I always got the large) but at least I felt like I got my money's worth. Today, I just felt ripped off. I know that with minimum wage going up they were going to raise prices, but didn't realize you would get less for your money too. Now that I know, I won't order it again and wanted to write a review for others to know as well. I should have said something at the time, but didn't think of it in the moment. Twice I have been to this restaurant with a large group and both times have had the same experience. Call and let them know there will be a group...You arrive and find out that another large group is already there and have taken your seats, so there is no room to seat us all together. The group that were in our place had arrived late so that put everyone else behind schedule. The manager told us that the group there would be finished in a short while, but since they had just got their food, I for one knew that was not possible. We left and went to another restaurant across the street...we had a wonderful lunch and great service... Sorry Hop Jacks, I for one will not be back to your establishment. read more

My wife and I stopped in for breakfast and were really pleased. Phenomenal service from being greeted all the way through our meal. I had the breakfast burrito. It was about perfect with fresh veggies and a really good tortilla. Wife had steak and eggs....also done the way she likes it. Really the only drawback was a side of hollandaise that we got was cold. I was hesitant to suggest this Hop Jack's as a place to meet some friends for Sunday after church breakfast due to the reviews. I'm glad I ignored them! We arrived and were seated immediately and I was able to ask for a table instead of a booth with no attitude from the seater. I splurged on the country fried steak with hash browns and eggs over easy. The overall serving size was good and I didn't leave hungry although a bit more gravy would have been nice. I hate salty sausage gravy and this was seasoned just right. I'm a country fried steak snob and this one was close to being a top contender. It was crispy, seasoned nicely, and okay in size. My wife had a mushroom and three cheese omelet that was so large she ended up taking enough home for supper. Instead of thin sliced mushrooms that disappear when cooked, the mushrooms were whole or at the most halved. Our friends had waffles that were crispy instead of soggy and they were pleased with their scrambled eggs and bacon. Tasha the server was a delight and kept both water and coffee topped off. The food arrived fast and hot and with no mistakes except an extra cup of coffee that I decided sounded good after all. There are cheaper places to eat, but the atmosphere, service, and quality of food will bring me back. read more

Best bar/resturant in Spokane! I lived it here. The "Big Juan's Burger" was amazing and just as described. I also had a few "icy" drinks which are a very good modern take on serving alcohol. Hit happy hour there today. We were very impressed with the selection and service. Tasha and Kenny were awesome! The home-made chips were wonderful. The flat bread I ordered had goat cheese which I personally am not a huge fan of but if you are you would like it. Tasha offered to bring a different flat bread for free. Not many places offer that anymore. Beer was ice cold and there was a large selection of non-alcoholic drinks. We will be back! Did I mention excellent service! read more

We were in Spokane visiting family for the week and took a group of 14 over to Hop Jacks. Chris, our server, was very accommodating. He handled the whole group with a smile and didn't miss a beat. The kids' portions are just right and my wife raved about the ice glass drops. I had the Morning Burger and it was excellent. Service was horrible. It took a very long time to get anything... appetizers, beer, and main course. (And my order was not even correct) On top of that the beer was not "34 degrees" as advertised. There was a near brawl in the bar and management handled the situation horribly, which resulted in the "good guy" leaving on his own will and the over served, potty-mouthed patron staying. Nobody to greet me so somewhat dissatisfied however once greeted Jeff the bartender was friendly and food was good street tacos aren't great but BBQ mac n chz was amazing and huckleberry drops are the best in town so overall happy with this hop jacks although I do enjoy the valley restaurant atmosphere better read more

First time at this restaurant. Wasn't sure what to expect. Had heard good things but always thought it was just a bar. Well I was wrong. There is a nice bar area but it is also a great restaurant. I chose a bratwurst with onions and sauerkraut. It was from their Oktoberfest special. It was wonderful. Great cook on the onions and wonderful flavor from the bratwurst. We had an appetizer with potatoes and a beer cheese with bacon on them. Omgosh that was spectacular. This is a place I will definitely come back to and I will recommend it to family and friends.
