Turns out, there was no leak in the first place, and that the dripping had other explanations not requiring any expensive intervention. Chapel Hill Tire has lost my trust. Do not give these fearmongerers and scammers your business. Their shiny new interior is paid for by your dollars, once they scare you into paying for things you don't need. The guys at Hope Valley 66 auto repair shop always contact you within a timely basis to give you a reasonable estimate on any repairs that you may need. They will not suggest unnecessary repairs and will not try to overcharge you on service. Getting oil changes and inspections here is a breeze, I never have to wait very long, especially if I arrive in the morning on a weekend. If you need a more complex maintenance service or repair performed, generally you need to bring in your vehicle on a weekday for the mechanic to perform diagnostics. Whenever I have had to drop off my car for such a service, I will receive a call within a few hours after diagnostics are complete, with an estimate to approve of the repair. Usually, the repair (brake work for example) is complete by the end of the day. On occasion, a repair might take longer than that due to waiting on a part to arrive or some other factor but rarely do I have to wait more than a day or so. Be aware that this is an independent shop, not part of a large dealership chain or something, so the waiting area is fairly small and spartan. I believe there is free Wi-Fi available but have not had to use it for any period of time. Again, Hope Valley 66 offers solid, reliable service for very reasonable rates and I would recommend them easily.

That made me very nervous myself when spotting it only after I'd left our Honda Accord there, but our experience was as positive as any car repair can be in trying circumstances. I had to very quickly find a garage via Siri search while on the road, with the added pressure that it was late afternoon, with many shops nearby already closed. This one was just minutes away from my highway location so the choice was pretty much forced on me by my highly alarmingly worded warning light. (What had seemed a minor cosmetic-damage-only encounter between car's front end & a buried railroad tie had, in fact, ruptured the coolant system, draining all the fluid, with potential to dangerously overheat the engine.) The very efficient and well-informed woman at the front desk helped advise the technician and they got my car in and assessed it together with speed & competency. Her initial estimate of damage and cost turned out to be accurate and both she and a man who alternated with update calls were helpful with the process of syncing with insurance + locating parts. Communication with us was routine and clear. During the initial wait, I saw them being equally well organized and courteous with others, even though it was then very close to closing time. I'm no automotive expert, so can't advise with any certainty if the job could have been done cheaper or faster (it took a few days due to coordination with insurance & getting one part), but...the final tally was adjusted slightly lower to match my insurance coverage -- much appreciated -- and three weeks later, car is still performing great following the repair (I wanted to wait on a review to ensure no surprises.) Also, they were kind to an elderly family member I was with, keeping the office open a little late so I could run down the road to pick up a rental. My right tire was showing the threading. My front left tire was wearing out from the inner tire. They also left a loose bolt. I had so much trust in them and they put me in a car that could've put me in danger. I was driving the far places not knowing that my car wasn't safe. If they saw my tie rods how did they not see my tires were ripping apart because of them. They did replace the rear tires but that doesn't justify the fact i was driving that. They performed the oil change well enough, but they always seem to be a bit less welcoming when you state that you don't want the tire rotation service. My main issue, however, is that they did not appear to top off my fluids although they include a $6-plus charge for that service on your bill, according to the genial woman who checked me in. I ended up having to buy washer fluid myself to refill my vehicle's reservoir. Also, I would have liked to have gotten the checklist of systems they checked, and the videos they used to provide. Did they not check everything because I didn't want to have the tire rotation? I don't like having to think about that possibility. I'll likely still go there for oil changes, but I am hopeful service will be a little better overall.

Since it was now mid-afternoon the day before Independence Day, I had to scramble to find another shop to tow it to ON MY OWN DIME (the lack of a spare tire is another story). Luckily I was able to find one and they patched the tire for $32; all the tires are just fine (no evidence of "dry rot" as claimed by AAA).
