Excellent food. So so service. They were all very very nice but not so great at getting communication or getting food done at the same time. I got the tuna burger and it was really good. I didn't expect much as I am from the east coast but it was delicious and cooked perfectly. My 2 guys ordered burgers and they both devoured them before the fries showed up - because the fries were never cooked. We had to go ask about the fries and we got oh- the ticket was taken down so we didn't cook them. Once we got the fries they were hot and fresh and really good too. We definitely will go back but the staff should have a little better communication with each other. And the soda fountain wasn't working which seems to be the story for our stay in McKinney. Drink machines have not been working anywhere we have been this week.... read more

Finally... someone who knows how to run a business. After almost giving up on Hopdoddy after a recent " less than" experience at another location, I traipsed to the far outreaches of the ballooning northern burbs to give them one more try! Bingo! First of all, my thanks to the leadership here. It is highly effective. Watching the place work is a thing of beauty. My hat goes off to Ronnie Onott- General manager. Entering the place you're hit with an updeat feel,sights and sounds of things happening. The space has a comfortable feel,great background soundtrack playing and alot of smiling faces. At 4 in the afternoon the place was picking up and soon to be busy. Just off Hwy 380 and Custer in a gorgeous ( I don't see or say that often) strip center,it's easy in and out parking. Prepare for old school level service, quality and friendliness when you enter. Smiles all around, helpful suggestions and tasty food. I had two items from the happy hour menu. A Big Larry, excellent and sliders. My fellow diner had the Fried Chicken BLT salad and a Texas Stinger. Both superb. I recommend... Go! read more

This review is for HAPPY HOUR! By now everyone knows this is my favorite hour of the day. The prices are AMAZING. The atmosphere is chill and the drinks are DIVINE. Hopdoddy is a cool spot to have drinks. I enjoy sipping on the LIL Larry adult beverage. It's cold, refreshing and packs a big punch. LIL Larry makes me feel PROUD! It has a good taste. The bar is a fun setting and the staff is friendly. The happy hour menu offers a variety of drinks. It's clean at this location. They offer a variety of seating options. Next time I will eat it's been awhile since I have been to Hopdoddy. Eventually I may switch to a BIG Larry, but for now little Larry works! read more

Another fantastic lunch at Hopdoddy! Service quick and by very friendly staff! Lunch time is usually busy here, but today being a slightly warm day, the patio was open and an excellent choice! We ordered the Roosevelt Burger and the Thunderbowl along with side of regular fries! The bison meat in the Roosevelt was so flavorful and handling it expertly while cooking it to medium rare made it even more tasty. The Thunderbowl was chock full of salad veggies and with a luscious portion of white chicken meat. And the sauces just perfect ! The fries as always fresh, crispy and perfectly seasoned and was complimented by the truffle sauce. So perfect ! And the huge chilled goblets of Lagunitas and Modelo Especiale made the meal even more satisfying and complete! Man! We are getting spoilt here!! We will be back soon! read more

We came to Hopdoddy Burger Bar for a late lunch/early dinner with the family, and overall it was a really solid experience. To start, we ordered two orders of fries to share, which were great and perfect for the table. For entrées, I got the Ahi Tuna Bowl, which was fresh, flavorful, and a nice lighter option compared to the burgers. My daughter had the kids burger with chocolate milk and was very happy with it. Another person in our group ordered the Farmhouse Burger (the one with the egg), and that one was a standout rich, satisfying, and cooked well. My husband was extremely hungry, so he went all in and ordered two burgers: the Diablo and the Nashville Hot Chicken. Both were really good, bold in flavor, and definitely hit the spot. The setup here is a little different but easy once you get it you order first, then they assign you a table and bring the food out, which worked smoothly for us. They also have a full bar, and the drinks were really good. Even the fountain drink options were better than average, which is always a nice surprise. Price-wise, it's not a super cheap spot, but for what we ordered four burgers, a kids burger, fries, and drinks it came out to just under $100, which felt reasonable for the quality and portions. Overall, everything tasted great, the vibe was fun, and the service flow worked well. The first time I dined here was especially amazing! The food drinks and service were all on point. Second time I visited was on my 50th bday. There was 4 of us they didn't seem as friendly this time or welcoming. We didn't stay. Third time was ok but again wasn't as impressed with the food and drinks. I would try again. I visited Hopdoddy Burger Bar for the first time, and was not disappointed. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly as I walked in, It's nice that they sit you at a table and serve you, I like that type of restaurant experience. The burgers are fairly priced and delicious, the fries are crispy and fluffy. They have a great little bar in the middle of the restaurant and fantastic outside patio for your pup! The only thing I hold against them is that they have Coke products and not Pepsi, but that's my preference I had the double bacon jam which is a double 4 oz smashburger with a delicious tomato bacon jam, perfectly cooked, not too messy, held together well, on a nice brioche bun. As I'm sitting here doing this review, one of the staff recommended the tres leches shake to follow up my meal, I shouldn't...but I definitely am going to get it. Definitely recommend it! read more

I had high hopes for this place after hearing so much about this burger. First impression...not good. The lady taking the order was nice but the rest of the staff needs training. Ordered 2 burgers and 2 regular fries.. the fries came out at a minimum 20 minutes prior to the burger. I asked the waiter why the fries came out so much earlier than the burger and he stated that soon as the order is received, they go ahead and start on the order and the fries cooked quicker so instead of having the fries sit there and get cold they bring it out to the customer to start eating.. he said it normally doesn't take this long and I advised to him that I never heard of that and that most people want to eat the fries with their burger. He had no comment. I also observed him pick up food from the floor and spilled drinks with his bare hands and then deliver food to the tables without washing his hands. The burger was very greasy. Really weird set up. You get in line and cant get a place to sit. The place has no organization, we got turned away because we have to "reserve a spot" which is weird. Everyone in line standing didn't know this and after you place your order you have nowhere to sit at. Practically we were kicked out cause we have no "reserved spot". read more

The shareable sweet potato fries were half the size we got several years ago when we ate at the Beltline location. The quality is there, but the quantity has gone down tremendously. 2 burgers and a shareable fry, + water (free) is $50 (inc. tax + tip), that's crazy! So, Hopdoddy, please keep up the flavor & quality, but please do something about the quantity. Wow....ME THINKS NOT!!! Sorry. I really wanted to like this new experience, but the burgers are severely over priced and lack flavor. I spent over $45 for two burgers and fries....wow...so not worth it. I paid over $9 for the worst French Fries I have tasted in a long time.....I mean it's French fries.....if you charge that much money then the fries should be spectacular. But, I also ordered the sweet potatoes french fries and it was good....not the best I have ever tasted, but good. This was a first and last time experience. I wish someone warned me to not waste my money. Consider this your warning. I will tell you that I told you so, if you go anyway....you will hear my voice after you finish eating saying....."I told you so." Good luck people and stay safe out there. read more

I don't know how we missed this place! We stopped by in Austin and the food was amazing! So we had to make sure our local one was just as good. They are! The fries are enough to bring you here on your knees, begging for more. The burgers are next level! Read their story, local and fresh ingredients! The staff are awesome! Anyone complaining must have got here while they were spinning up the new location. We visited on February 7th, the warm up after the 2026 snow-pocalypse. Came in about 4:30 pm today. They picked our table. Unfortunately, it needed to be wiped down, so we moved. They were not busy, so they should be cleaning tables. While checking out, I noticed an additional $1.25 charge for cheese. I asked about it since I simply wanted to substitute American for cheddar. I was told that it was an upcharge. I clarified, "So swapping one cheese for another is considered an upcharge?" The employee confirmed that it was. The fact that I wasn't even told that substituting out the cheese with cost me $1.25 when I asked about it he seemed bothered. So I just told him I would not be coming back. A manager then came over, though she hadn't heard the earlier conversation. She asked if I wanted to sit while waiting, and I declined. I also mentioned that this would likely be my last visit because I was surprised to be charged $1.25 just to change the cheese on my burger. She explained that the system typically doesn't handle substitutions well and that they usually note those changes in the comments instead. Unfortunately, it seems that process wasn't followed in my case, as I was still charged the $1.25. What was more disappointing was that no refund was offered. To make matters worse, the food itself was underwhelming. Although the fries were hot, they were rubbery and chewy and didn't taste very good. The burger was not very good and I'm not even sure where my 1.25 cheese was because I barely saw it on my burger. This will be the first and last time I visit any of these establishments. We also liked the service approach - order at the window but while waiting in line to order they come and give you a table assignment - was nice not to have to find a table and everyone that helped us was fantastic and we like the atmosphere.
