Ordered the red chili mac, Cuban, and ribs. The ribs were meh....too wet and the dry rub became a thick cluster instead of a firm exterior. Stopped in at the Smokehouse adjacent to this place for quick lunch. A moderately lit, neighborhood-ish bar with a decent menu. Girlfriend had the BLTA - said it was "fine". I had the prime rib dip with fries, also OK. Nothing spectacular here - just belly filling food for the road. read more

Whatever else you have, you must try the mac n cheese! They have a good beer selection, according to my beer drinking better half. I like hard cider, and although there is never more than one on tap, you are free to go get a can or bottle from the store to drink with your dinner. Fries = 5 stars for sure. Ambiance is really dreary though... when the waitstaff has to squint at you when you walk in you get the impression they're mad. But no, it's just too darn bright outside (even on a rainy day!). Cuban wasn't grilled flat but was a very solid sandwich. The BLTA got big thumbs up, the brisket sandwich was also inhaled. So the food is ok. Never very consistent it's either great or really bad. No middle ground, staff is hit or miss you can get someone friendly or someone who is just there to get paid and is annoyed if you ask for anything. Food prices is on a mid to high end for food that is mediocre at best. I would recommend many other better places in town over this place. read more

My honey and popped in here for lunch while driving from Portland to Seattle, as it is located conveniently between the two. We're childfree and Hop-N-Grape is too. I think their reason has something to do with the state liquor law. Whatever the reason, it works for us! My pulled pork sandwich was delicious. We're strong fans. We've tried several things on the menu; most recently, the pulled pork sandwich and the buffalo chicken wrap. We always get the pepper jack Mac n chz, and everything was great. I'm picky about coleslaw, but I like theirs. However, coleslaw is a cheap thing to make, so they could do a little better than giving you 2 tablespoons and calling it a side. The restaurant has always been clean and tiny, but it can get busy. Beer and wine menus are now shown on TVs on the wall, which is a different approach. Restrooms are clean. We ate lunch at the Smokehouse Pub on a Friday afternoon. I would give the pub 3 stars and the store 5 stars, so I averaged the two in this review. The pub is fairly large and takes up the back portion of the store. We were a little confused when we walked in, as it wasn't clear if we were supposed to seat ourselves or if we would be seated. We finally just sat at an empty table, and then was asked to move because the table was apparently taken. Once we were seated, a waitress stopped by to take our drink order. The drink menu is on television screens hanging throughout the restaurant, which was a little odd. One thing that is pretty annoying is that there is a capage fee of $1.50 for any of their beers you order, even if you just order off the menu, so you are basically paying a premium just to drink there. I went with the Tieton Cherry Cider and really enjoyed it. For our meal, my husband and I split the combo platter which comes with pulled pork, pulled chicken, sliced brisket, a roll, and two sides (we ordered the pepperjack mac and cheese and the hush puppies). The food came out relatively quickly and the portion was more than enough for two people. All three of the meats had great flavor, but the chicken was my favorite. I wasn't a huge fan of the BBQ sauce (this is likely a personal preference, as I don't like vinegar-based BBQ sauces) but I really enjoyed the mustard sauce they served alongside the BBQ sauce. The hush puppies were not very good. They didn't have much flavor and were dry. The mac and cheese was fantastic, though! It was easily my favorite part of the meal, and everyone at our table agreed it was awesome. After eating we wandered into the store. They have an awesome selection of beers, possibly the best I have seen. The set up isn't fancy (it was actually rather cluttered), but it was organized by type of beer so it was easy enough to find what you wanted. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat at the pub again (although it is a great option if you are in the area), but the store is definitely worth a drive if you are a beer fan. read more

I f you are looking for great barbecue, this isn't it, it isn't even good barbecue. I went for a combo plate to go. When I got home and removed the container from the bag, I noticed the bag was still heavy so I thought "the sauce must be on the side" no sooner than I had that thought then the bag started leaking....to my surprise what was left in the bag was about a cup of grease which was now running on ,y table and carpet. When I finally got to open the container what I found was three disgusting masses of unidentifiable meat ranging from light grey to black and NO sauce at all. My husband and I stumbled upon this place, and wow! What a gem! The smell of smoked meats hit us as soon as we walked in, and the taste definitely lived up to the preview. Im thinking the people who gave this place bad reviews and said the meat was tough and barely edible must have come on a bad day. We shared a combo platter and a sausage platter, and found everything to be juicy, tender and flavorful. The baked beans are among the best I've ever had. I love the mac and cheese here! They don't skimp on the sauce, which is perfectly creamy and seasoned to my salty perfection. I also tried the prime rib special but it was a bit more on the drier side for me, not something I would order again. Not a big concern since I was already quite happy with my mac n cheese.
