we're in the area for a short getaway and had to try this place after all the great recommendations, it didnt disappoint! we only live about an hour away and are definitely planning on coming back. we got a Barnstormer (the meal version), the karate pig burger with kimcheesy fries, creamsicle soda, ginger mule soda, and a nutty professoreo shake to split. everything tasted great and came out fast, maybe ten minutes to get it all? the mac and cheese cakes that came as part of the Barnstomer were amazing! im definitely getting more of those next time. and the spice level of the chicken was perfect, definitely had heat but it wasnt painful to eat haha. the burger was really flavorful and well done, fries were full of kimchi goodness and not soggy or overly greasy. all the drinks were also nice, we especially enjoyed the ginger mule as a great refresher to balance everything. really cant say enough about how excellent the taste was, the hardest part was narrowing down what to order! i can see why this place gets so much hype, its worth the reputation it has. the prices were super reasonable especially for the portions, for all we ordered i think it was right around $30 before tip. for two meals and 3 drinks, one being a shake, thats pretty awesome. service was friendly and everyone there good about the social distancing and mask wearing, we ate outside on the patio to enjoy the weather and stay safe. they have an online order at the table system right now and it worked well, easy to understand and nearly no contact. we also liked that the food came served in cardboard takeout style boxes so that when we were ready to be done we could close up leftovers and go without needing to bug someone or waste dishes. all in all a great experience! read more

I have two daughters who are gluten free, allergy. We were told by the staff after ordering, "we don't serve gluten free buns, but you can bring your own bun next time and we will toast it for you". Perfect. This place doesn't try to do too much. They do burgers, chicken tenders and sides and do them all really well at a reasonable price, with a small but very tasty selection of local craft beers. I wanted to like this place. I wanted to give this more than two stars. Here is why I can't. Did not live up to expectations. Ordered the "Fun Guy" (isn't this a copy of a Lexi's burger ?) and truffle fries (lexi's again?). Fries were OK, not great; and the burger was disappointing. Oily to the max, burger was too oily to stay together. Also worth noting everything is fried in beef tallow so vegetarians will be more challenged than you'd expect. Overall the food was heavy, fatty and overpriced and will either cure the most rugged of all hangovers, or you'll feel fat and gross. OK draft list though, not sure why they aren't pouring Great Rhythm or Stoneface given they tout themselves as serving NH beer. The menu, concepts and operation need some serious tuning, but given their primary audience is college students this is unlikely to happen. Go to Lexi's. (Way) smaller draft list but way better food. read more

In these crazy times of curbside food, Hop + Grind is taking it seriously. They know what they are doing from their excellent, efficient, easy-to-use online ordering, to the quick processing time, and the fantastic food. We ordered dinner for four the other night, with four sandwiches and four milkshakes. We tried three different kinds of fries and they were all delicious. Sandwiches were all fantastic, especially the Nashville-style hot chicken, spicy and delicious! Seeing the employees all wearing masks made me comfortable that they were taking everyone's safety seriously. Quick efficient service, delicious, hearty food, we'll be back often! read more

Went on Saturday night, sort of busy before the UNH hockey game with lots of families and young children. They have it set up so you wait in line to order and then find a seat. The place is rather small and space was tight. Line was about 15 minutes long and staff were handing out menus and asking if anyone had any questions prior to reaching the register. I had the chicken tenders with fries and my boyfriend had the double burger with bacon (beast mode) and upgraded his fries (truffle shuffle). Grab your own condiments aside from the sauces like ranch and barbecue mustard which you have to ask for, they forgot them with my order and it took a while for me to get them which is my only complaint. Cup sizes for them are also very small and you require 3 to 4 to eat your whole order. I will definitely be back in the future though as food was really good! read more

Best food in Durham by far. Honestly, the Honky Tonk Chicken sandwich is the best chicken sandwich I've ever had. Ever. I'm from the land of KFC, and this blows every place I've ever been too in the KY region out of the water. It's a good blend of sweet and spicy and I'd recommend it to anyone out there... I've not had other menu options (may not because this is too damn good) but I'd 100% recommend this cool little place. Also - Doesn't hurt they have awesome beer on draft, all local. The place is definitely 'hip' but it's just trendy. If I lived in Durham, I'd come here probably 3-4x a week. Lastly, my only 'recommendation' to Hop + Grind is to allow for CarryOut. I commonly look through my google maps and fb restaurant suggestions, well one day I stumbled upon this hidden flavor palace near the UNH campus in Durham, NH. Great 90s skater vibe, which spoke to the childhood memories I cherish. Walked up towards the counter and immediately Nick, a manager came over and happily navigated the menu for me... I was happy for his help, he was a gracious host and answered my questions!! Food is prepared fresh in an open CLEAN kitchen and served in record time!! My son loves the Mac and cheese bites, I'm a 10AM burger girl, and the fries are a no brainer, hands down WINNER!!! Crispy and savory - with option to top to your taste bud's delight!!! Been here now numerous times and no complaints at all - but more of a request, id love for the Mac & cheese bowls to come up here!! :) they have them at their other location and they are AMAZING!!!!! They make their own soda right there when you order, my kids love the blueberry mojito. However I appreciate that cause my daughter doesn't like carbonation they will willingly make hers with plain water & never even bat an eye at the request!!! :) super friendly staff, everyone is always busy bees multitasking and talking to everyone!!! They have a really great open range of local beers and even showcase some from the UNH beer lab now and again! This is a very good burger joint, the perfect college hangout spot. We went on a Monday night so there wasn't a lot of people there. The menu is roughly 20 items long , but they make those items very well. I got the beast mode with traditional fries and my girlfriend got the Karate Pig with the truffle shuffle fries. Really delicious. Finished it off with a Nutty Professoreo shake. Let's not forget the people that work there were very kind and extremely helpful. Great night out read more

Great spot! In my opinion, definitely better than Lexie's. The Karate Pig burger was fantastic. Love the flavors and the house-made kimchi. My kids had the fried chicken, which was cooked perfectly and really tasty. Things they could improve: the fries were inconsistent. Some of them were crispy and hot. Others were greasy and limp. The creamsickle malt had a great flavor, but there were bits of orange in it that had a mouth feel like they the the whole orange -- peel and all -- into the blender. Love the atmosphere and the employees were funny and friendly. I imagine the place gets really crowded when the students are in town, so enjoy it this summer! read more

Based on all the reviews we knew we had to come here and once UNH was out for the summer it made it to the top of our list. I can see this place being extremely busy while school is in! Great nice college bar vibe. You order your food at the check in desk or you can order from your phone at the table (super convenient). We had the Barnstormer and the Karate Pig along with the Mac Cakes. We also tried their craft sodas- the Topical Illusion and the Blueberry Mojito. For dessert we got the Nutty Professoreo Malt. By far our favorite was the Malt. The food was also amazing. I wasn't a huge fan of the Mac Cakes- I would have preferred just regular Mac and Cheese. The Barnstormer was SPICY but we loved it. They have what looks to be an awesome beer menu as well. Kids are welcome. Parking available right outside the restaurant and street parking. There is also a lot on the other side of the building but I'm not sure if it is public or not. We will definitely be back to try more burgers! read more

Nick explained the menu to us and made suggestions on what to order. My three kids ordered the Parma sutra which is a chicken parm sandwich and they loved it! And for my nine year old to love a sandwich is saying something. As far as burger places go, this joint kills them all! I got the BIG POPPAR, my buddy got the BEAST MODE, both of which were the best burgers we have ever had. Amazing birthday lunch with family! Food came out hot and delicious. The falafel dish was on of the best I have had and their hand cut fries are crisp and tasty. Very cool but funky place, but I would not go back. If you're a burger lover and someone who doesn't care if they gain a couple hundred extra calories, then this may be the place for you. However, if you're someone who thinks holistically about your health, then I would avoid this spot. I'm someone who doesn't eat red meat, so coming in, I knew I'd be limited to chicken and veggie options. But, they only fry in BEEF TALLOW, do I found myself either eating the spinach salad, or not eating at all. The salad was great, but yogurt dressing was very heavy. Hop and grind aims towards college kids and people who love a funky vibe, so don't be fooled by the seemingly "modern" sign and lights-it's not.
