If you want good que, skip this place. I was in from Georgia on work, stopped by for lunch. Ordered ribs and pork sandwich. Ribs were tough and not sliding off the bone and the chopped pork sandwich was extremely dry like it was in the freezer for a day or 2. The sauce tasted like ketchup or something out of a can. My family and I decided to stop and eat here, because we've been traveling all day so a local BBQ restaurant that we've passed upon many occasion was our choice. The wait wasn't long and the atmosphere was homey. We had to wait for a table to be cleaned off because they were busy and that wasn't a long wait. The server showed up very quickly to take our drink orders, and then we soon placed our meal orders. I ordered the Shrimp Po-Boy with just shrimp because I'm a plain and simple kind of person. The waiting time for the food was average. All the orders were not brought out at the same time, though. My dad received his cheeseburger before my mom and I and he was halfway through by the time our meals arrived. The sandwich was good; I highly recommend using lemon with it for added flavor. The waiter checked on us several times before we finished. Upon receiving the check, BE WARNED! Tip is INCLUDED with the total amount, regardless of quality of service. We did not catch this until after we had paid. Our "tip" cost us almost $10. read more

I pass through here about six times a year. The food at Hoots is terrific! The place is clean and pleasant. I've been there enough times to see that the white folks sit and eat but the few black folks that come through the door get carryout and leave. I've seen it happen too many times now to ignore. Probably the best bbq I've had in Arkansas. The ribs are cooked perfectly. Could use a bit more salt in rub but other than that, perfect. Brisket was good, pulled pork was meh, chicken was meh. But it's nice to see ribs done properly, they didn't fall off the bone but left the perfect bite mark on the meat when eating. Brisket was flaverful and moist. Tried both shredded and sliced. They have a south carolina mustard sauce very similar to Roxy's as well as a red that's very good. I came in both days I was here and will be back when in the area. Stopped in at this jewel while traveling thought the area. It has a relaxed fun atmosphere, great food and is a fantastic value. I was with a group of 5 people we all had something different. Each of us enjoyed our meal. I had the BBQ nachos and would recommend them. Got the brisket plate ($12) and my friend got the sampler ($15.99) which lets u pick 3 of 4 meats-- he picked ribs, chicken, and brisket. The brisket was pretty dry and came to us cold. However, my other friend swears its the best around, so i might have to visit again and update my review if its any better. My friend's sampler plate also had brisket that was cold and dry. However, the ribs were really good (fall off the bone kind), and he said the chicken wasnt bad. We also got onion rings. They were just okay...nothing special. One of my onion rings had a glob of dry flour....guess they didnt mix the batter well enough. Eaten here twice!!! I like the set up here...separate eating area and bar area. The place is clean and the service is fast compared to how many people are there. Wow, what a great find in southeast Arkansas. I would have to say they have the best ribs I have tasted in some time and probably some of the best in the state. Everything was great but you also have to try their onion rings. Will definitely make the drive back soon. read more

This place is out in the middle of nowhere on 65. At first it looks like a gas station but once you pull in you see the actual restaurant and bar. So me and my family were on our way home to Mississippi from a weekend in Missouri. Our A/C was out in the truck (the belt and compressor broke on the way up) and we were hot, tired and hungry as all get out. We stopped in Dumas,AR and walked right out the of the place we were at because they were so disrespectful. We drove on down 65 and saw Hoots! We got out and told them how many. We were seated promptly especially with all of this COVID-19. They took our temps and sat us and we were greeted with the greatest waitress ever! So sweet and just all around great! She made sure our glasses were never empty and was always asking if we needed anything. My husband and dad got the hamburger steak with fries w/gravy! Y'all that gravy and hamburger steak is fire! The gravy is more of a cream base but it's different but really compliments the hamburger steak. My mom got the loaded BBQ baked potato with pork with mixed veggies and baked beans! Soo good and I got the grilled chicken breast! It was butterflied perfectly, cooked to a perfect tender stage and the onions and mushrooms on it were soo good. We got my son their chicken fries and he ate those up! The fried dill pickles are amazing as well! Fresh dill pickles! Also we got the BBQ nachos with chicken and those are amazing! Their signature BBQ Sauce is amazing too. It slightly smoky but sweet and has a little kick but it really brings out the flavors of everything. All in all this is a great place to stop and eat. Stopped in here while on a road trip. Ordered the sampler platter. Got sliced brisket, pulled pork, and ribs. The brisket was dry, tough, with no smoke ring or flavor to speak of, and the outside was charcoal. It had obviously been cooked too hot and fast. The pulled pork, dry and flavorless, symptoms of the same problem. The ribs were tender, because they were boiled or backed, and then thrown on a hot grill. The only flavor they had was from the not so good sauce slathered on them. So, I asked my server if the chef took constrictive criticism, she said yes. I stated my thought as presented above respectively, and she got mad and told me I was wrong. I asked legit bbq questions such as how long were they cooked, what temp, what type of wood? She didn't know any of these. So, as someone who has a background with bbq, I would never claim to be an expert, this was a horrible example of smoked meat. read more

My dad and I stopped here on our way to Louisiana. We both had the smoked chicken sandwhich with onion rings. Chicken was Smokey and tender. Very good spot. Onion rings had a tasty breading. They had a regular bbq sauce and a sweet and tangy sauce. I liked the regular more but both where good. A little on the pricey side.
