Very cool restaurant. Tasteful decoration complimented a really good bbq . Tried a sampling of brisket, ribs and chicken with bean and slaw . Brisket and chicken both seasoned well full of flavor but those ribs stole the show. Fall of the bone juicy and not overly smoked. Both bbq sauces delicious couldn't decide on a favorite . I have been eating here for a few years when passing through the area and the food has always been average to good four star fare. We went this weekend to treat a couple of family members. Did not have a reservation, but this has never been a problem in the past. I don't know when reservations became a problem. The hostess immediately developed a surly attitude and told us reservations were "recommended" and wouldn't say whether we could get a table or not. While we were waiting, we saw others arrive with no reservations, and they were seated before us. After probably 3 groups were seated ahead of us, the surly hostess suggested we get take out. Since there aren't many other places in town, we got it to go and ate in the car. We will know next time. read more

Family and I were on a road trip from Jackson Mississippi to Tulsa Oklahoma. On the route we were hangry and saw hoots by chance the parking lot full so knew it had to be good bbq. Upon walking in it the bakery side na lil old lady on the phone and fresh cake forsale. I told my wife let's go on in and eat. It's order get a number and sit down. Nice bbq decor. Menu on the wall. We ordered a bacon burger, 3 way with 2 sides and kids burger. The food came out after 10-15min. First my wife's burger looked great no bs no pre made patty this was a real hand made patty, bursting out of the bun cooked to perfection. Juicy but done. Bacon nice and crisp. Tasty not over seasoned. The 3 way came next. Brisket, ribs, chicken, potato salad, baked beans and a piece garlic bread. Brisket was definitely the star followed by the chicken. Ribs were dry but damn can't be perfect every time. Beans were outstanding potato salad was creamy but got better with every bite. The 2 bbq sauces are nice and spicy very nicely done, right up my ally. A bit vinegary but definitely helps with digestion. My daughters burger looked great too best kids burger I've ever seen honestly. The meal was great. I honestly loved it and it put us in a good mood. You could tell it was cooked with love. Very rare these days. I'd definitely recommend a stop and try it yourself. Btw I had to get a piece of grandmas home made German chocolate cake! It was excellent and I'm not a huge fan of coconut on my cake definitely homemade taste from first bite. read more

The food is ok , not fantastic as the prices reflect. Five dollars for a little piece of pie and astronomical prices for food. This was in February when my dad passed away. My two daughters and I ate there for a total of $57.44 . Heres the kicker. They actually charged me .75 cents for a glass of water!!! What kind of GREEDY shmucks does that! I think they are legends in their own minds because they are the ONLY BBQ joint around for miles. Well I can assure you I drive right on by that place after being robbed . There is a great Sonic a mile south of them. Real nice girls work at the Sonic. That's another thing at Hoots, not one person that works there had a nice thing to say or a smile! I was gonna give a higher rating but Yelp giving me the "please remember businesses are doing their best" bs made me change my mind because I realized how terrible the restaurant lobby is and how they need to be punished. Why is it our job to tip when they aren't paying their employees minimum wage? (Note: this doesn't have any bearing on hoot's bbq who I'd imagine does take care of their employees, I'm just taking a dig At racist yelp). Anyways, this place is okay. The ribs and the smoked chicken. are pretty good, but I've had way better briskets and being this close to texas, there's no excuse for not having good briskets. When you are in the middle of nowhere USA and the locals are waiting outside to get in at opening time you know you have come to BBQ Church. This place is so good, the only bad thing is it too far away to enjoy it on a regular basis. The sliced brisket and chopped beef were excellent along with the sides. The deserts were very tempting but had a long drive ahead of us and didn't need the additional calories. Well done and it is worth the trip. read more

Mid July while coming back from a fun drive. A friend and I stopped by HOOTS. Well as usual hoots does not Disappoint. If you're looking for barbecue or a sandwich or hamburger steak or steak or their menu so large I can't even name at all. But also they are cakes oh my goodness. They have strawberry, caramel, Italian cream cake, German chocolate, I just can't remember them all. All I can say if you ever go to 65 across Arkansas. First off...I am very picky when it comes to BBQ! We stopped at Hoot's for dinner after a 7 hour car ride with 4 hangry kids and some sun soaked parents who were done after a 6 day vacation in Pensacola. So, the service was spot on...we walked in and were pleasantly greeted by a young man who found a nice round table for us to sit and contemplate/take bets on which kid would let the hanger monster out first. Our service was prompt in getting the drink orders, and as usual one of our kids decided to challenge this poor lad with a cherry coke...without missing a beat he said that they did not have that, but would be happy to figure something out. Five minutes later, he arrived and made her day with a coke with cherries in it. Enough with the blah blah boring stuff, to the almighty reason we stopped...the Q! First off the fried green tomatoes to my shock, lasted about 1/10 of a second...they were nothing fancy, but were very tasty and a great start to the dinner. The kids, well, they live on chicken tenders, grilled cheese and/or fish bites with fries, so the kids were easily impressed. (Eye roll!) I chose the mix plate with ribs, brisket slices and the 1/4 chicken...the brisket was perfect on flavor and the ratio of meat flavor and smoke, also it was cooked perfectly. No add one, sauce or other was needed! The chicken was also spot on with flavor and smoke, tender and fall off the bone delicious! The masterpiece was the ribs...amazing! I was recently in Memphis at a top BBQ joint and was greatly disappointed....but the ribs tonight were on point! The combination of sweet with a small touch of heat was killer! The ribs were fall of the bone, not dried out and full of great smoke flavor! The sides were also great, good slaw and the beans had a good level of spice to them. The wife got the nachos and they too did not disappoint. Can't rate them other than the cleaned plate was all that needs to be said! So wrap up...if you want great BBQ...no need to drive all the way to Memphis, just hit this place up! Great food at a great value for the all mighty dollar. Seriously, we ate some great food over the course of this vacation week at the beach, but this was hands down the best meal for this trip and I truly wish I had left room for some pie! Great place to eat! We stopped two years ago and when we found ourselves traveling through this part of Arkansas, we stopped again. It was a Saturday night, so it was crowded but the restaurant is huge so we didn't have to wait long to be seated. We split the Phat Girl Fries, which were great and came out quickly. Stopped to grab some lunch. Went in and spent almost $25 for a burger and two small drinks. Waited over 20 minutes but our order never showed up. After several tables received their food that came after us, I asked the server to check and she said our order was lost and that happens sometimes. We needed to get back on the road so we said we'd like our money back. In the mean time a line had formed with over 15 People to place orders. While traveling home from Florida, we felt as though we were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by farmland and crop dusters (I'm not referring to people who flatulate while they walk past you, but actual planes spreading pesticides on crops!) We were starving when we checked out nearby restaurants. Hoots popped up and honestly I'm sort of a BBQ snob but nonetheless decided to give it a go anyway. I had the pulled pork salad and ordered an extra rib. The pulled pork was moist and delicious! The rib was great, very tender. My wife had the brisket sandwich. The brisket had good flavor, but was a little dry. The smoked chicken was also delicious. Then we tried the banana pudding. Wow. It was near perfection. Amazing ending to a great meal. What a great find on our way to Vicksburg. The food is fantastic! I had the chicken fried steak and my husband had the smoked chicken with the baked potato salad and slaw. The food was served fresh, hot and fast. Great service. They treat you like family. They were super cautious with the staff all wearing masks and serving limited capacity. Must be a hometown favorite because we saw about 20 to go orders go out while we were there. They also have a bar and serve full bar drinks! Great little gem off the highway in McGhee. Strands of bbq pork, & burnt ends on top of creamy yet sturdy slaw. This is a "2 hands" sandwich. Tangy sauce with a touch of heat. The onion rings are delicate. Like a catfish batter light.
