After reading the reviews and saw two negative comments I was leery, but there was way too many positive reviews to not give them a try, and was glad we did. Seriously legit stop in town. The salad was fresh and the house dressing was great and just the right amount overflowing the bowl! The ribeye was a little bit on the lean side but the non lean parts were great and the size was perfect. There was a hint of garlic butter hanging on the side and the home made steak sauce was pretty decent. So glad we stopped in and had dinner. In Greenville for a meeting and our group dinner was at Sherman's at South Main. The dinning room is intimate and cozy and nicely decorated. Service was awesome! These folks must have had Chick-fil-A train their staff. I've never had better service at a restaurant. Since I was in the Delta, I decided I should try the catfish fillets. As soon as I walked in, I recognized the name from on TV. The entrance area was clean and our party of 7 was greeted and seated promptly. They have live music which was at the right noise level. I can't remember the waitresses name, but we sat underneath the "Sherman's" sign and it was 7 pm on Saturday night. The waitress was quick to take our drink order (which was much appreciated). There is a full service bar, so I ordered a Bees Knees and it was perfect. The Shrimp and Grits were well worth it, but I saw all kinds of delicious looking entrées at my table from Chicken Fried Chicken to Shrimp Alfredo to South Main Chicken Grill to Roasted Salmon and Gulf Shrimp. I overdid it once I ordered Bread Pudding, but we sure left full & satisfied! The ambiance, noise level and hospitality definitely made me want to return on my next trip. I knew then we had stopped at the right place!! My entree was vermicelli with meatballs. My husband had chicken Parmesan. Both were absolutely delicious!! Very generous servings!! Bright and lovely sprawling space. Though it is sprawling & sparsely decorated it is no less welcoming, in fact the bright white lends an ethereal feel, quite comforting apropos to comfort food. We were greeted as friendly as one might expect in the south. Our waitress, Brittany, was so patient with us as we pored over the menu and barraged her with questions. I'm happy to report there are plenty of choices for pescatarians. My husband ordered an old fashioned which he reported was quite good. We then decided on a pizza for him and grilled grouper for me. The food came out in a very reasonable time frame. My grouper came with 2 sides and I selected asparagus and hand cut fries. Brittany was correct in saying the asparagus was excellent. However, the fries were undercooked and flavorless while the grouper was overcooked and dry... though seasoned well. I don't think the pizza was anything to write home about. Oh, I'd noticed other tables had bread and we didn't, I assumed our meals didn't come with bread. At some point, without my asking, Brittany said she was bringing bread. Even after saying that I waited quite a while for the bread to get to me. Once it did.... OMG, it and the accompanying honey butter was off the hook! As for the most important part of any meal, the dessert, there were nearly a dozen good choices. Brittany said the bread pudding was REALLY good, as I am a bread pudding freak it was a no brainer. It indeed was very good, I've definitely had better. We plied Brittany for info about when Gordon Ramsey brought his Restaurant Rescue tv show there to give them a little help and we enjoyed her regaling of that experience. This place was a very welcome reprieve during an otherwise crummy experience of the area during a recent work trip. We ordered: Spinach dip with fried pita Pan fried chicken with lemon and capers (x2) Go figure I like fried pita?? I usually hate fried things. It was so yummy! The chicken was AMAZING! Our waitress was super fast and friendly. The only slightly negative thing I could say about the place is the fake butter on the table. Why? Man I hate to do this but.... Negative: Service was slow and had to repeat myself to clarify order several times. Waitress returned 5 times to either ask what I had ordered or to tell me an item wasn't available. Maybe she was new? Mashed potatoes were instant and not homemade. Too much breading on chicken and shrimp on the chicken sandwich and shrimp poboy. What I thought was a large piece of chicken was actually quite small. Meatloaf was cold in center. Bread pudding was clearly microwaved because the center was so hot it burned my tongue. Positive: Sides of turnip greens, okra, beans were great. Chocolate pie was phenomenal. Had to update my review because technically this is a new place now. Since they reopened I've been meaning to come by but only really had the chance once before now and went for a quick lunch. Sitting down for dinner with my visiting parents gave me a good chance to give them a fair shake. Was overall impressed with the environment they've created inside. The service felt efficient and friendly and the food was delicious. At the table we had the veal parmesan, shrimp and grits, and spinach dip. Each of these were very tasty.
