    Bone in Ribeye

Wow just wow!. I cannot believe the taste of the Bone in Ribeye If you are in the Greenville Mississippi area this place is a must. Don't let the location detour your plans. Great atmosphere Great food Great everything.

Simply incredible. While staying overnight for work I sampled Does and was just blown away. From the moment you walk into the front door, which is in the kitchen btw, you're welcomed like your family and you belong. You simply feel like it's where you're supposed to be. Then that "slap ya mamma" kind a good food is served. I started with the salad. Any salad that comes in a wood bowl is legit. The Filet I had was cooked to perfection and incredibly tender. The fries are cooked in an iron skillet, which you walk by while being seated. This restaurant is what'd you'd expect at mommas house but she can cook the best steak of your life. Can't wait to bring others back.

I came all the way from New York and it was worth it. I've wanted to try the original Doe's for a long time and it was a great trip. The tamales are amazing and the Porter House was perfect. While I definitely couldn't eat the whole thing, my daughter and I did pretty well. The service was great and the ambiance is exactly what makes Doe's unique. If you love steak and road trips then this is the place for you.

This place belongs in the Smithsonian next to Willie's guitar "Trigger", blues, or the Model T. There's just nothing else more genuine to it's roots than this. Take a step back in time as they serve up a big ole slice of Americana. Or rather, dinosaur cuts of perfectly cooked beef, novel delta tamales you'll want to order by the dozen, and a simple but satisfying salad like your grandma used to whip up. Doe's has stood the test of time, and I hope to make the pilgrimage, nay reunion, again soon, because when you visit you feel like family.

Yummy in my tummy. The best steak I've had in a long time. Amazing salad. Great service. Met the owner at the grill on the way out. Can't ask for more.

This updates two previous, recent reviews. Doe's now charges $82 for a Porterhouse and $60 a filet per the testimony of immediate family members who stopped in to the Greenville site just a few days ago. If this is case, the price-performance value proposition no longer exists.

So the locals said we had to come and try this place out while we were in town. They warned us it's nothing crazy awesome but it's that hole in the wall that you have to say you went to. The menu isn't anything crazy but I can say try the tamales. They are good and worth at least one. The salad reminded me the old school home made quick dinner salad as a kid and it was good. Just ignore how much oil is on it, you will survive. I really enjoyed the tender cut of beef and it wasn't a small piece l. Lastly the service was great and everyone there was so friendly and nice. I will be stopping back by the next time we are in town.

Tamales ....with chz and chilly. Im from tx so these were different presentation but equally delicious.

My coworker recommended as I am from out of state. It is Byob liquor or wine but they do sell bottled or canned beer and similar type drinks. We had the salads, shared a tamale order, chili, and cheese appetizer, then also shared the ribeye. It was huge and enough for 3 proper servings. Everything was delicious, steak cooked perfectly. Its not in tge most welcoming area at night but they employ a sheriff through closing so we felt perfectly safe.

    Bone in rib-eye. Delicious!!

Excellent steak!! I've never had better. This will be a permanent stop anytime we happen to be in northwest Mississippi.

My steak was soooooooooo delicious and so indulgent. Not even going to try to express the char or the juiciness. I believe the steak was the very best. Shrimp was very nice as well Salad was truly gross and disgusting. Nothing but lettuce, not even altogether very fresh (had to pick out and throw 3 leaves away), and it comes dressed... with something that tastes like pure salt. No acid balance. So horrible. I appreciate most learning about how in history folks would come through the rear portion and roll their four footed animals right alongside the side there. Depressed portion of town, most notably the African America side of the tracks. My great uncle 's store Bings is literally just east of this historic joint that is oh so quirky and full of ghosted walls that I coaxed to speak to me Can watch them making frites or salad in the main room. Or walk a few steps down the ramp inside and sit in the adjoining space Only Greenville could boast a place like This! CA prices

The food was great, really delicious. My steak was the best I ever had. We loved the shabby building. It definitely felt very authentic. Now for the bad: they don't give you a menu. You just have to know what to order or ask them what they have. This surely works in their favor because their prices are insane... extortionate is the first word that comes to mind. Shrimp baskets are $31 each. Side salads (though delicious) were very simple iceberg lettuce with a simple dressing (and small) and were an additional $7 each. Our 6-year-old daughter's spaghetti with tomato sauce (no meatballs) was $10. A half dozen hot tamales were $10 and they were tiny. My steak was $64. Yeah, it was huge and absolutely delicious, but come on... I ordered the second smallest steak they offered. Lastly, I used the men's room while we were there, and it was not a pleasant experience. The wall-mounted water heater was dripping on the floor and I had to stand in a pool of water, and there was a window hopper air conditioner in the window with an extension cord precariously daisy-chained above me. All I could think of was that cord falling into the pool of water and frying me as I was taking a leak. I'm not a snob, nor am I afraid of paying a premium for a good meal (and experience), but I can't understand how this place can be so popular and get away with these kinds of prices with a ramshackle dive-bar setting. It was an enjoyable meal and we had a fun time, but never again. No thanks.

Love the Nostalgia of this place. I do wish it was still the "old" Doe's with a limited menu, etc.

From the exterior, the establishment boasts a wonderfully classic, vintage aesthetic. Stepping inside reveals a uniquely styled interior featuring an extraordinarily impressive array of fine spirits and luxury beverages. The service was top-tier and delightfully attentive from the moment we arrived our host graciously poured drinks for the three of us to begin our meal. I opted for a Blackberry Shrub, which was expertly mixed, incredibly refreshing, and executed to perfection, while my assistant selected her own beverage. For our dining selections, I ordered the Tamale Boudin balls, while my assistant chose the Ribeye. When the dishes arrived at the table, they were nothing short of exceptional boasting a rich, authentic, homemade style that was utterly delicious and deeply satisfying in every respect. What makes Downtown Grille such a remarkable find is that despite its elevated flavors, impeccable service, and sophisticated bar program, it remains delightfully reasonable. Full marks for a marvelous dining experience I shall most certainly be returning!

In Greenville for a meeting and we had reservations for Downtown Grille for 6:30 on a Friday night…read more There were ten of us and we beat the crowd. I was kind of worried since it's a nice looking place surrounded by businesses that appear to be permanently closed. However, a crowd picked up closer to 8, so I can tell it's a local favorite. Our server was amazing! Didn't have to ask for refills, condiments or anything. She handled us really well and answered any questions we had. I ordered one of the daily specials, blackened redfish. Menu said it came on orzo, which I don't like so I subbed for the long grain rice. I added a side of broccolini. Food came out hot and in a reasonable amount of time. My fish, with that Cajun cream sauce, melted in my mouth! I didn't like the rice, as it was gummy but the broccolini was cooked as if a gold medal was the prize at the end of the night! My only misgiving about it was I wanted more of it!
