I would have never known if I tried to fix this myself. I am always hesitant about calling a company to come do work because even the smallest little thing would cost me a few hundred dollars at least. As John was fixing and replacing things, he would also give little informational tidbits and explain what things were and what he was doing along the way. They also did a great job insulating my attic - passed Austin Energy inspection on the 1st try - and relocating my condensers from the side yard to the backyard. The new 3-ton Daikin recommended by Alan for our downstairs has worked great so far - much quieter and cooler than our old system. Both Alan and Ricky were both very helpful, informative and definitely had my best interests at heart. Alan did not try to sell me any additional products that I did not need. He suggested an additional return air vent to help my system's air flow. This solved the problem my house was having not cooling the downstairs effectively. And Alan solved this problem without trying to sell me a $3300 zone damper system. Another company tried to sell me on that zone damper system. They did not get my business. Alan and Ricky both had some great ideas on how to make my system run more efficiently. They suggested I seal up some gaps in my air vents and make sure that there are no gaps in my attic insulation. I always have lots of questions about this kind of stuff and they patiently and honestly answered every question I had. The actual installation went efficiently and without incident. I was only without air conditioning for about 3 hours. Ricky and a helper got the system in, explained a few things about how the new unit worked and got my new thermostat up and running. They got rid of the old ac, furnace and the old condenser. They did a wonderful job cleaning up after themselves. I did not have to pick up a single piece of trash or anything after they were all done. I think the hallway they were working in was actually cleaner after they had finished up. We were prepared for a hard sell on a new a/c unit, but Dave didn't do that. He simply fixed the problem--and for a fair price. In the past, our experiences with a/c repair consisted of someone coming out and taking a quick look around, then either not fixing the problem or charging a lot of money for what turned out to be a band-aid and a hard sell. It was refreshing to have someone come into our home and treat us right.

I said no explained again the terrible hardship our family had been thru and said we just wanted him to inspect the AC unit and tell me if there was a leak. Once again and a third time he said that he could do a service call for over 100 dollars, how about that? I told him no thanks and I might get back to him. He seemed like a greedy unfeeling person. Between us and my MIL we had given that man a lot of money and he would not just check this small thing for us-dang what a creep! I never trusted the guy, my gut always thought something shady was going on with him. So I had heard of a rec for Dave and called him. He was so kind and just checked what we needed checked! He listened! I told my husband next time we need an AC repair-we are calling him, goodbye to the last guy. Dave came out last month and was very sympathetic to our family still going through a hell for 6 months. He did a great job with the repair. he came out the end of one week to diagnose, I never saw a harder worker with him going in and out.of the house to check the unit, get things from the truck, etc. He had to come back to install the part the next week. There are a lot of HVAC companies out there, I've done my research. If you're stumbling upon Stryker look no further and highly consider them. At least let them come out and look at what your needs are. No loss there, right? Brent knows what he's talking about and his biggest concern seems to be quality work and to meet your needs while providing a great customer experience. The handling unit in my attic had rusted condensation coils. Another company came out and told me the unit was "oversized" for my house and the plenum was undersized and this caused my coils to have too much pressure and broke one of the lines and freon was leaking out contributing to condensation causing rusting. A 14K solution was recommended to me. I wanted a second opinion and took a chance on Stryker. Brent thoroughly looked at EVERYTHING and determined that the problem was actually from the original install 10 years ago when the home was built. The drain from the condensation on the handling unit wasn't piped in quite the right way (original install problem). This wouldn't have really been a problem because there's a back-up to allow condensation to drain off the unit. However, I wasn't performing regular cleaning maintenance and that drain pipe clogged causing my coil to rust. Since I was happy with the air quality and the cooling of the house, Brent recommended just replacing the rusted coil on the handler and re-piping it and performing annual cleaning. I saved almost 10k. Brent could have underbid the other company and made out like a fat rat, but he didn't take advantage of my HVAC ignorance. When you find a company like this, it seems like a true gem. I wish every business had his standards.

I called Stryker Heating & Cooling and I could kick myself for not doing it sooner!! They sent someone out right away and fixed it in minutes. Not hours or days, it took minutes. It also cost less then $60! When the technician said he was done, I felt a weight had been lifted. I am so grateful! The Stryker team are knowledgeable, kind and had great communication skills.
