On Saturday evening, my wife and I decided to go to Hook Burger. She loves their skinny fries and I love the Ahi sandwich. We were very disappointed. No more Ahi sandwich and the fries were regular cut. I ordered the Veggie burger and my wife had her usual Mushroom burger. We also ordered onion rings and asked for no salt on the fries. We have been evacuated for 13 days, over a week down in Oceanside. It was finally comforting to be able to have lunch at a place we really enjoy, Hook Burger. I typically have the Spicy Chicken sandwich. It comes on sour dough toasted bread. It is a great sandwich. I complement it with sweet potato fries. Cara has the California Burger which has a dollop of avocado. The staff is always friendly. They always go above and beyond. Love the ambiance of the seating area. Hook Burger is an excellent spot if you want a classy burger with beer or wine to wash it down with. I got myself a classic burger and sprung for some jack cheese (american and blue were other options.). I'm also a sucker for carmalized onions. Once you order, they'll give you a number plate to put by your desk and they'll drop it off at your table. Located near some mega shopping center, it's a good place to rest up and recharge after a marathon day of shopping. The bathrooms were also nice and clean individual accessible bathrooms The main entrance seems to be in the back by the parking lot with a nice outdoor patio area that's heated for comfort. Parking- A+ Private lot with a ton of free parking spots. Always a big plus! Service- A Servers are all super nice and extremely good at what they do. Took our order no problem and food was brought out to us in a timely manner. Food- B Tried the mushroom burger, hook burger, spicy chicken sandwich, and the trio with fries, onion rings and sweet potato fries. My favorite was definitely the mushroom burger with the melted cheese and tender juicy patty. The hook burger was also good but a little bland. The chicken sandwich was decent as well but no comparable to some of the local chicken shops. The trio was good as well but the portions were way too small for what it costed. I believe I only had like 5-6 pieces of onion rings. Ambiance- A Restaurant is clean and the employees are constantly cleaning after each party so that there aren't any dirty tables just sitting there. Great atmosphere. Price- C This place is very pricey for what it gives. A burger is typically $10+ and the sides are extremely expensive for what they give you. The trio was a complete rip off for the price. I was craving for burger one day for dinner and my husband been wanting to try hook burger for awhile now, so we decided to come here. I got the mushroom burger and my husband got the original hook burger and added blue cheese on it. We both like the burger and like how light the burger was. We didn't feel bloated after eating the full burger. The onion rings was nice and crunchy and a nice onion inside. It was my husband's favorite. The sweet potato fries is my favorite. I'm not so sure about charging extra for extra sauce. Sometimes the burgers come out with not enough sauce. Sometimes people have different opinion about how much sauce is the right amount of sauce. To try to save money on sauce is just not the right area to focus on. If money is being lost in sauce. Something is wrong. Find other areas to save. Service was quick as you place your order at the counter. Food was delivered to our table with in 10 minutes and this burger I ordered tasted really yummy. The onion rings though wasn't all that good but passable. I liked the Hawaiian burger with that slice of pineapple and juicy overall burger just kinda melted in my mouth. The place was clean and lively and our seats were comfortable and cushy. They also offer outdoor seating so that'll be nice during the summer months as it's covered so you have that shade. I loved the toasted bun and generous amount of grilled onions. The patty was thick and meaty. The lettuce was very leafy and gave a nice crunch as well. The fries were also a mix of crispy and slightly soggy, which is my favorite kind. They were lightly seasoned with salt but otherwise generic. Overall, the hamburger and fries were tasty. I particularly like that the restaurant gives you a several different choices for what type of cheese to add to your burger, which is something I can't say that I've encountered anywhere else before. The prices seem pretty reasonable for the quality and portion sizes of the food. Plenty of free parking is available, and they have patio seating available. I honestly can't think of anything this place could have reasonably done to make my experience better (they even put up an American flag inside), so ... why not 5 stars? I had my heart set on the California burger, even rehearsed the order in my head but I last minute went rogue and ordered the spicy chicken sandwich. Why did I order a chicken sandwich at a burger joint? No clue but no regrets. I really liked the sesame bread they used and the chicken was crispy. Every bite was a good time. Never had an issue with ordering online or over the phone until they updated the app. For some reason the app was not allowing me to order petite meals and I was forced to call in my order. We are officially Hook! Have been eyeing this joint for a long time, finally came in today after a Pop up pet adoption hosted by the Pasadena Humane Society. Hook uses Martin's potato buns , which use high quality ingredients that make the bun marshmallow-soft and sweet. Their fresh USDA lean beef is very juicy and lightly salted. They have different sauces on the side to pair with and it's not often you see a burger restaurant that provides A1 sauce. Really, really good. I've passed by this place no short of a dozen times within the last several years. I'm leery of burger joints as a whole because they seem to serve only set burgers and there is no room for upgrade or even downgrade. This one really surprised me. When I entered alone, my wide eyes and shy demeanor (I'm actually like that 24/7, but I have a review to write and a story to tell) must have signaled to the staff I was new. So, they guided me through the burgers on the wall and recommended the famed California burger that is the most popular. I normally don't like to choose the most popular listing on the menu for the simple fact that sometimes it can really, really suck. But I was sold. I took my place at a booth and anxiously awaited my food. I didn't have to wait too long at all as it came less than 10 minutes. Mind you, it was late at night and the restaurant wasn't too busy. My food was amazing! The burger was significantly bigger than I thought it would be so I only had half of it and shared the other with my husband.
