We came to H&B for dinner to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday while she was visiting from out of town. About a month in advance, I spoke with the manager, who assured us they would be able to honor our request to have Antonija as our server again since she had been absolutely wonderful during our previous visits. We were a little disappointed when we arrived and found out we weren't seated in her section. That said, it turned out to be a pleasant surprise because Bart was our server, and he was outstanding! He was friendly, attentive, and made our celebration special. We also tried several new dishes, and everyone was very happy with their meals. Overall, we had a great experience and will definitely be back. H&B continues to be one of our favorite places due to service, ambiance, food choices and drinks, and we'll keep bringing our friends and family here whenever they come to visit us in Myrtle Beach. read more

This restaurant is very fun, busy and loud. We made reservations so we didn't have to wait long. The drinks were delicious, the food not so much. I got the blackened salmon, and it was very dry and tasteless. I tried to get extra mango salsa to help, but it didn't. My husband had Brussels sprouts and they were not good either. My first visit to this restaurant. I was confused by the entrance. It's on the opposite side of the building. But once there, I was immediately greeted while coming up the steps. He was very friendly and seemingly accommodating. I was seated and immediately someone came over to let me know they would be with me. That guess kudos for me. I ordered Prosecco, then the waitress told me about the specials for today. Everything sounded good. So I looked at the menu and I decided to go with the fish bites as an appetizer because I was starving. While sipping my Prosecco and eating my fish bites, which were delicious and hot. They had already brought me some pimento to enjoy while I wait for my entree. I thought the pimento was a bit too salty for my taste. Then came my lobster tail. I ordered the greens as a side however, when it came, it was brussels sprouts. They apologized and brought me the greens collard greens to be precise. I had never heard of such a combo. Now that I have, I will be ordering it again. The lobster tail was a good size expected a little small one, but it was surprisingly bigger than I thought. As I was eating my waitress came by a number of times to check on me to see if I needed anything else or if the food was good. Someone else also stopped by to check. I don't know what his role is. But I let him know that I was satisfied with my meal. I was surprised by the Bill for lobster tail. But then I'm used to California bills for lobster tail. That's where I moved from. All in all I had a really good meal and I like the people there. So I will be returning. I was seated at a corner table so I could hear the conversations around me. In all the years that I have been eating at this restaurant I've never had a bad experience, until last night. My food was good but my husband had the short ribs, always delicious but he said they were extremely tough. My husband has severe hearing issues and wears hearing aids. I'm not sure if our server had hearing issues also or was distracted but he had problems understanding what my husband was saying, so my husband pointed at what he wanted on the menu and spoke louder. The server told him there was no need to be rude and yell. He was in no way yelling or being rude. It got the evening off to a bad start. He was so startled by being talked to in this manner that he even forgot to order the she crab soup! Myrtle Beach is really upping its dining game and we've come a long way since vacationing as a kid. This is one of those game changing additions. I'm so happy I finally got to try this place! It's been on my list for years and it did not disappoint. First things first, definitely make a reservation. It was slam packed on Monday night, but well worth the wait. You can walk up to the bar and order a drink to take outside while you wait, but must consult the host stand for bar seating. The outside area is so cozy and cute, with swings and fire pits. I started with the Old Fashioned. The candied bacon set this off wonderfully! I also had a Peach Bourbon Smash and highly recommend! It wasn't too sweet and the fresh peaches were a welcomed treat. My friend and I split the She Crab soup. It's the best I've ever had! So fresh, well seasoned and the delicious bits of crab were lovely. We also split the Burrata salad and Crab Stuffed Flounder. 10/10 no notes! I really enjoyed the guajillo bisque, it was a unique addition to a traditional plate. My other friend had the fish bites and those were outstanding. The fresh flaky fish, light breading, and hints of spice then dipped in the remoulade. Chef's kiss. Our waitress, Kim, was amazing! After a long day of volleyball, we treated ourselves to dinner at Hook & Barrel, and it was one of those rare meals where every single thing was excellent. We started with a pound of steamed shrimp, which was fresh, sweet, and perfectly cooked. The wedge salads were outstanding, with high-quality blue cheese and thick-cut bacon, while the Caesar salad featured freshly shaved Parmesan and was a hit as well. For entrées, the crab-stuffed flounder was exceptional, served with perfectly prepared mashed potatoes and asparagus. The crab cakes were some of the best we've had, and the Ocean Fettuccine with lobster tail was loaded with seafood, perfectly cooked pasta, and an incredible sauce that my daughter practically inhaled after a full day of competition. We finished with key lime pie, which was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. What really set the experience apart was that there were no weak spots. The food was outstanding from start to finish, the service was warm and attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere was elegant, comfortable, and welcoming. This wasn't an inexpensive dinner, but it was worth every penny. As my father would say, it was a true "blowout dinner"--the kind of meal and family memory you'll still be talking about years later. We went here on vacation last year with my family, a big group of 10. It was so good! Coming from Missouri, it was great to have delicious fresh seafood. All the staffs were very tentative to us. Food, however, was terrible. They start us with some crackers and pimento cheese dip, salty. She crab soup was terrible. I don't even remember what it taste like Fish bites was alright, My shrimp and grit was horrible, I don't even know what going on with the dish, why is it sour? We have been here 2 times before and loved it. Service and food were 5 stars, across the board. This last time, however, really showed that they think they're getting a little too egotistical. We made sure to let the waiter know that my wife had celiac disease and the utter importance that her food be kept separate from the others. I wanted the same thing as she did and our son wanted Mac and cheese and they swore that they would take extra precautions with hers and glove changes and all. Well, when our food came out, our son and "mine" came out on the same arm of the waiter and my wife's was in the other hand by itself. Since, I don't have the allergy, I obviously didn't think anything of it and started eating, as did our son. Seeing my wife look at her food weird, I stopped and asked "what?" She proceeded to pull a noodle from under the corn on her plate. I called our server over, showed him, and he actually asked me if we dropped a noodle on her plate. I was pretty pissed and sternly told him how it came out and had to have come from the kitchen that way. The manager later came out and said they'd make another for her and while we waited, we started eating because our food would be ice cold by the time my wife's came out. For our (mine and my our son's) need to be rude by eating before my wife's food was replaced, we didn't get even a slight discount on my wife's food's mess up. We were treated like we did this on purpose by the manager and he said he would review the camera footage the next day "for me" and I told him there was a camera over our shoulder that would prove we weren't lying. The oysters were definitely fresh, but I can't say that I love them. Next, I had the shrimp ceviche, bourbon bacon, and she-crab soup. The ceviche was light and refreshing, and the bacon was thick-cut with a rich, sweet glaze. The standout was definitely the she-crab soup. It was easily the best I've ever had, packed with flavor and a reasonable amount of crab. For my entree, I went with the pan-seared scallops, served with a sweet, creamy corn purée, sautéed Swiss chard, and smokey bacon lardons. The scallops were perfectly seared, tender on the inside with a beautiful golden crust. Our server, Cece, was excellent! She was welcoming, attentive, and undoubtedly proficient. My wife and I did not get a drink as many of the tables around us had done. We felt as if that delayed our service. It took forever (at least 10-12 minutes to put our orders in, refill empty waters (mine sat for at least 5 minutes near the edge of the table). Our server Carson was decent, he was good in the beginning but after saying No to drinks, he was scarcely seen. When getting my check, after saying no to desert he just dropped it on the table. First the service is amazing our waitress made the food sound so delicious before we got started ordering, ambiance is a little loud with everyone's conversation but it is a beautiful restaurant, very clean and well organized. The seafood fettuccine was delicious! To be honest I had eat so much of the other appetizers, salad and pimento cheese dip it was a struggle to eat it all.
