My first time here and I really like the ambiance of this place ! The person behind the counter was very cordial as he took my order . Ordered the Pastrami sandwich to go ... wait time was decent . I love pastrami sandwiches and I would have to give it a 4 stars out of 5. The main reason is because I don't like onions with my pastrami. I did an online survey about the onions and the owner replied advising next time can ask for lesser onions . So pretty much I'll be back since they checked off all the boxes about my preferences. Their signature aloha rainbow mozzarella grilled cheese sandwich was a hit with the kids. It was so pretty the kids absolutely loved it. The pastrami sandwich was a hit too. My favorite was the pesto delux dunked in a nice cup of creamy tomato soup. Super ono! We had the Nutella fluff and added bananas and holy cow it was so yummy. Not very pretty but my tummy was happy. They do also have salads and smoothies which was also great to have other options besides just cheesy sandwiches. Yummy sandwiches! I really liked my Pesto deluxe sandwich. The gooey, melting cheese oozing out after a bite. Pesto was delicious and the sandwich was hot and crunchy and tasty! I got the local sandwich, which is a regular kind of grilled cheese but with corned beef added. the melty cheese and crispy bread were wonderful, and I love the added flavor of the corned beef. my only concern is that prices have significantly increased recently, when comparing the menu in store to pictures I saw online. it's quite expensive for a sandwich and tomato soup to be $20 when making this at home could be less than $5. it's still a tasty choice if I'm in the mall but I'd opt for a "fancier" sandwich next time for the price you pay. read more

Located on the ground floor, Oceanside, near the food court right outside of jollibee is Honolulu Bistro. A small space of five seats line the inside window of the bistro. The inside beautifully decorated (very insta worthy). I walk in and it's pretty full, can't tell who is next in line as we all squeeze our way inside. Both doors open inward so it's not fun standing inside when there are a lot of people in there. I was able to order the pesto sandwich and PBBH sandwich. I really wanted soup with my sandwich but they had run out. Took a bit to get my order and by then there were a good 10 people in the shop. Pesto Sandwich tasted ok. I think the cheese oozed too much onto the plate that it was missing in the sandwich. Plus I was craving some soup with it so the sandwich didn't wow me. The PBBH was just how I imagined it. The best part was the dusted powder sugar on top with the buttery crunchy bread. For $16 I probably would invest in more sandwiches with sustenance but the PBBH hit the spot. read more

Walk into a Victorian vintage vibe shop where you'll find Da Aloha, an instagram worthy grill cheese filled with rainbow colored cheese. My overall rating is a 3 star only bc the price isn't worth the portion size and it became a messy treat for my 4 year old. I HAD TO PUT THIS PLACE TO THE KID TEST. We ordered a Power Green smoothie for her, a deluxe pesto (deluxe only bc the Turkey was added to the original pesto cheese sandwich) a pastrami sandwich ( the sauce was killer but the pickle was kind of stale tasting) and the tomato soup was decent but not as creamy as I wished it were. Be sure to have a plan when eating as the seating is limited inside. The sandwiches do come in a takeout box so it was helpful to just relocate to the main food court dinning area. I've visited Honolulu Bistro a few times as I used to work in the mall. It's on the outside of the food court on the first floor next to Mrs. Fields and Ross. It's a small galley set up, but they do offer about 4 indoor seats. Lots of photo ops inside with their plants and the neon sign on the wall. I frequent the Pastrami Sandwich when I come. The bread is always perfectly toasted and the pastrami is never fatty. I was able to try Da Aloha Sandwich as well, which is the rainbow colored grilled cheese, which was okay but I definitely recommend the Pastrami over it. They offer online ordering so you can place your order ahead of time, which i do recommend. Sometimes it can take them quite a while to make your order, which does make sense because it's made to order but sometimes it's a little too long. I'd say order ahead at least 10mins so you don't have to wait as long if your short on time. For the most part the staff is normally friendly and helpful with questions, but it's pretty quick and easy to choose from their menu! read more

Honolulu Bistro is located in one of the exterior spots just outside the Makai food court. Exit using the doors to the parking lot, turn right, and you will find this charming little sandwich shop. Just look for the crowd of people all stopped to look into a big window. There are two doors, but either will lead you to the counter, where he owner will probably be waiting to make suggestions and take your order. I first visited the day after a big winter storm had swept through, leaving me with the desire for a grilled cheese sandwich and some tomato soup. I could blame my sudden need for a multi colored cheese pull on the idea of the rainbow after a storm, but honestly it was just because it was so pretty in all of the photos! It was pretty darned tasty as well, which is why I've continued to stop in when I'm at Ala Moana. As the weather warms up my soup has changed to smoothies, but my sandwich choice continues to be Da Aloha, because it still delights me to taste the rainbow. They have a tiny but beautiful hand poured resin counter in case you want to eat there and people watch as you gaze into the parking lot, or you can take your sandwich to go and eat it in the food court proper, or head across the street and eat at the beach. The sandwiches are served hot and fresh enough to last all the way to the sand, making them an excellent beach meal. I recommend the fruit smoothies over the iced coffee, as the coffee was overly sweet and had too many artificial notes. It The smoothies are made of fresh ingredients and are a refreshing way to case the cheese and garlic in almost every sandwich. These aren't the least expensive grilled sandwiches you'll ever order, but the price is in line with most of the non chain foods available in the food court. We also really enjoyed dipping all our sandwiches into the sauce (not sure what it was, but it tasted similar to honey mustard but not quite a honey mustard sauce) - including the PB&J sandwich! Customer service was amazing as well! The lady at the front (whom I believe is one of the owners/owners wife) offered to help us with selections, and she was super sweet! Came here for their Instagram worthy rainbow cheese sandwich! Its called 'Da Aloha' Sandwich and I also ordered a side tomato soup to help make the sandwich flavorful to eat and make me full a bit. The flavor cheese is just your regular overloaded mozzarella but with food coloring. You don't really taste the color but don't be afraid to eat lol and no worry your poop or pee will not come out rainbow (sorry to disappoint you if you were thinking about that haha). The only reason I took off one star is because its pretty pricey for one sandwich. The sandwich itself was okay...bread well toasted and kept its crunch and lots of cheese, so they don't scrimp on that. But, I couldn't taste much of anything else: the pesto, sun dried tomatoes.spinach, and turkey. To me, it was like a plain mozzarella grilled cheese sandwich. Additionally, the soup was nothing special. It wasn't thick, rich and creamy like bisque should be, and the container was so hard to open due to the suction created from the heat. There wasn't a line and I easily ordered. There were pictures and description on the menu, which made it easier for me to make my selection. They did start to pick up and others came to place their orders. It was clear that they're a favorite among locals and visitors alike. I did have to wait quite some time but it's understandable due to how great the food is. I'd love to try their banana fluff next time.
