It feels like your standard fare Chinese food for the North Shore area. We forget how fortunate we are, I've tried Chinese outside Eastern MA and it just doesn't compare to any places in the North Shore. My friend Joe lived in New Orleans, and he would be ravenous for Chinese when he would come home because the quality is so much better here. I'm sure there are other areas in the country with great Chinese. Anyways, Honga is no disappointment! The pork lo mein had me hooked, it was part of the D11 (3) combo. I opted for crab rangoon, which can be somewhat a challenge to find the perfect balance. But Honga nailed it, great ratio of crab filling and fried wonton. The pork fried rice didn't have sprouts, which I actually prefer. I didn't find a whole lotta pork in it, but it was tasty, a little dry. Nothing a little duck sauce couldn't fix. I also got peking ravioli, oh they were juicy but a little bland. The sauce helped, but was mediocre. I will say service was super fast. That was a big bonus. The restaurant has plastic barrier up around the counter. It's a little haphazard but it works. I was able to sit and wait in the shop, however I do not believe they allowed dine-in as an option (I ordered in person and handed my food in a bag). They may have a table set up with utensils, I forgot to grab some. Fortunately I keep a couple pairs of chopsticks in my bookbag. I ate in my car while waiting for the laundry to dry. It was the day after a night shift, it's always a wasted day because I sleep when I get home. It was my one meal Saturday, and it satisfied all those cravings.

General gaus combo w boneless pork. So good! Great price too

Best Chinese in Salem. I really like their general gaus, one of the better I've ever had! Their combination plates are really good deal and a ton of food. Their boneless pork spare ribs are also super delicious. Very fast for lunch take out

We really enjoyed Fantasy Island. I had been here on occasion with friends when younger, but this…read morewas not my family's Chinese restaurant, so I wasn't super familiar. Everyone says it has gone downhill, but I cannot compare, and we liked our experience. Maybe they are working on improving. Service was friendly. We shared the chicken fingers, moo shi, chicken with asparagus, and chow mein. My dad had a hot and sour soup, and him and I shared a Fog Cutter. We both liked the drink. The chicken fingers were hot and delicious, and my dad, who never likes them, was a fan. I do not normally eat moo shi or chow mein and thought both were good here. The chicken with asparagus was tasty, though personal preference is for thinner stalks. Our cocktail was strong. It was quiet inside, though we visited a bit later in the evening. I hope they continue to do well, as they have been a Salem mainstay forever. I am looking forward to returning.

I ordered crab Rangoon, and while the flavor was decent, I was shocked to find a small screw inside one of them. Thankfully, I noticed it before taking a bite, but it definitely ruined the meal for me. The staff was polite when I brought it up, but something like this shouldn't happen at all--it made me question the kitchen's quality control. Hoping this was just a one-time mistake, but I'd be hesitant to order again anytime soon.
