We love Bantam kitchen (the owners other restaurant) and we're excited to try the new spot. We got the fried chicken with 3 special dips and the Creole shrimp. Fried chicken is 10/10 amazing flavor, crispy thick crunch on the breading, and fun dipping sauces. Also enjoyed the crème brûlée and champagne. Cocktail menu also looked very appealing. More like a 4.5 if I could! Stopped in after work for a dessert, homemade chocolate pudding. Pretty damn tasty! Got their picanha steak to go for my husband. It was delicious! It came with a couple homemade salsas, green one was the bomb. We'll be back! read more

Front the start it was kinda weird, had us stand at the register to order food and drinks before sitting down....I'm not one to ever really leave a review but.... My chicken was bleeding. When I brought it up to employee I was told they temp checked it and that's what happens with bone in chicken. I also have to point out that when my meal came it was just chicken and three dipping sauces. No one asked if I wanted a side, I assumed it came with something. Just the whole vibe was weird. The service was friendly and the ambiance is nice. But the food I had was... unpleasant. I ordered the macaroni & cheese with brisket. The sauce wasn't creamy at all--just liquid with no cheese flavor, and the brisket pieces were gray unflavored cubes of dry meat, as though they were leftovers from earlier in the week. I'm not sure what's up with the sauce... possibly someone in the kitchen didn't drain the pasta very well, resulting in watery sauce. But the real issue was the temperature. The plate and bowl were hot, but the food was room temperature. Perfect for bacterial growth and foodborne illness, but not so much for eating. Also, a minor thing: none of the staff I spoke to could pronounce names of some dishes, like "picanha." It's near my neighborhood, so I may give it a second chance. I really want to have a good neighborhood place again, but I'm not sure this is it. read more

I decided to try this place out on a whim since I was in the area and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Started with a whiskey black berry cocktail that was recommended to me by the very nice and easy to talk to bartender Ayla. Nice balance of sweetness from the blackberry and a nice texture from the egg white that is whipped into it. After enjoying my cocktail I decided to order the red beans and rice. This dish may have just changed my life forever. Never thought I could be so impressed with a simple dish but it seems like they put the extra effort into even the simplest of things! The best fried chicken I have ever had with three delicious sauces and to-die-for fried okra. Additionally, the Brisket Jam Burger was outstanding. The way you have to order while standing is horrible. Told to sit and once sat it's full service. We ordered drinks and 14-25 mins later I got up ordered dinner. We got the fried okra has 0 flavor. Catfish sandwich was soggy and fell apart and brisket jam flatbread which was doughy and sad. It sucks moonstone is gone and we get something like this. read more

First visit and a little disappointed. Very very limited dinner menu, food was OK. Have to order at the register before being seated which was fine as it wasn't busy but would be disastrous if there was a line. Restaurant does not accept reservations. Hopefully these are teething problems and it will get better. read more

Need to post accurate hours of operation. Daily from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm is not correct. Planned to visit several different times for dinner but the restaurant has not been open for business. Not excited about the lack of wait staff, but still want to give your restaurant a try to sample the food. We were loyal Moonstone customers, weekly on Thursdays night s and are eager to have a quality restaurant open for business. Ate here one time and it was pretty good. Went to go back and there is a sign on the door today saying they're closed until further notice. It would have been SUPER helpful to me (and professional) if they put this information on the recording of their phone message, AND if they took the time to update their website so people are aware of them being closed before they get to the restaurant?!?! read more

Everything . The menu is limited. I paid $16 for a frozen peach tart that I couldn't eat and angered me. I don't like going up to order my own food. It's like a cafeteria. They don't have a cocktail menu but serve everything. Love the ambience, but miss moonstone. read more

Tried this place for the first time checking in confusing and inconvenient. We were assuming since they already have another food business in town they'd be much more organized. Limited menu and didn't have some items as they were sold out. I had the muffalata sandwich which was just ok. My husband had the mushroom burger which was just a burger on a plate. Patio is nice but furniture was in need of repair. Staff was pleasant. Hours were inconsistent initially. We are hoping to give them another chance since they are new. read more

We had high hopes for a cool local hangout... however our experience on Sunday was awful. We arrived and noticed it was not very busy but there were no clean table to sit at. The guy cleaned off a table and got us some water. And then we waited... other people came in and got seated and got water AND menus and we were completely ignored without menus. So we got up to leave and the guy said take care... what does that mean? So we said that this was terrible service and he just shrugged. No apology at all. The food was good but I also was a little disappointed, fine but not what I'd hoped. First, when I go out to a nice place, I want to sit down and have someone take my order, not go up to the register. My husband did enjoy his shrimp creole and my catfish sandwich was good, breaded lightly and really flakey with a tasty tartar sauce. The food was yummy but it didn't taste Cajun. Having grown up in the South and eaten decades of homemade food in Louisiana, Mississippi, & all the rest, I know of what I speak... if this is just a 'nod' to Cajun & Creole, that's just fine but was expecting slightly more authentic. Was also hoping for beignets and chicory coffee on the desert menu and a slightly wider menu. I did appreciate the service staff, very friendly and quick to help but not hovering. Wish the decor had changed as that was the only thing I didn't like about Moonstone...I miss Moonstone. Hope they keep working on the menu and making it better as they grow because this is really a nice addition to Redding. Now, if we could also get a Low Country eatery here, we'd be cooking! read more

The food was outstanding. The brisket burger and chips delicious. The only issue was with the bartender. Their post on Instagram has indicated they were making French 75s. A traditional Southern New Orleans cocktail. It is served in a champagne glass or flute ...made from brandy or good gin, lemon juice and champagne. I order one and it was served in an apperitif glass...?? Two sips for $14 is hardly a French 75. read more

When the restaurant opened, completely turned off by ordering at counter, then sitting outside on the patio with an uncomfortable table and chair setting. No ambiance, just parking lot, plus cheesy purple signs everywhere. Although staff was friendly, it was like just dropping off food and left. I was checked on 20 mins later, leaving me feel frustrated. Very disappointed. I ordered the flat bread. Nothing special, but the toppings were a very small amount, like the ingredients to make the flatbread were running out. Experience, poor. I revisited a few months later for lunch service as there were comments the restaurant has changed to full service. Once again, menu limited and uninviting. Additionally, the menu is chaotic with no structure, and a few items were not available, so a limited menu to choose from. I chose the burger, of all things, and that came out rather fast. It was a good burger, but super fatty, and grease down the forearm. The side salad was equivalent to a quarter cup salad, if that. Lunch tab was $30. Again, disappointed. Mediocre food,, nothing feels like going back. Redding has very few culinary options, and was very much hoping for a good establishment. This one falls short. read more
