I don't really have a busy life so a meal delivery service isn't right for me at the moment but I'd recommend this to anyone looking for one, especially considering the issues with other big meal delivery services.

Overall, the food was decent for prepared meals and met my dietary needs. However, there were two big issues that ultimately made me switch to another service. 1. The website The website is very confusing. When I tried to change my meals, the new selections wouldn't save. There is just too much going on, and something that should be simple becomes unnecessarily complicated. Eventually, I gave up and just accepted the preselected meals. And I used to be a web designer, so I generally know how to find my way around pretty much any technology. If I gave up, I can only imagine how frustrating it might be for someone less comfortable with websites and apps. 2. The biggest issue -- delivery This was ultimately the dealbreaker for me. My last three orders arrived so messy that I was actually disgusted to touch the containers. They are not properly sealed, so the liquid leaks out, the food gets shaken and mixed together, and some of the meals arrive looking like porridge. I had to wrap each container in plastic before putting it in my refrigerator because everything was wet and messy. The paper sleeves around the containers would arrive soaked, dirty and literally falling apart. I don't know if this is just happening with my deliveries or if other customers are experiencing the same thing. My most recent delivery did have some additional cushioning placed on top inside the shipping box, which was an improvement, but that doesn't really solve the problem. The individual meals still aren't secured inside the box, so they get shaken around during transportation and the contents leak and mix together. After three deliveries like this, I gave up. The food itself was decent, but the delivery and packaging problems were enough for me to cancel and switch to another service.

Everything from extremely late deliveries to bones / foreign objects in my meals. On their website they said they do produce box delivery only on Mondays and Thursdays. But on the confirmation email I received, it said they start delivering the day before into the day they promised. They delivered it straight to my doorstep on Sunday night. You can sign up for delivery notification. The process itself was very easy. As to the box itself, I attached photos of the list of the items we got and of the box (the kale hid a few of the squash and the eggplant). I thought the quality of the produce was good, but I was kind of expecting a bit more in terms of quantity (compared to my own CSA delivery in the summer). Overall I am satisfied, but wouldn't make this a regular order.

I altered almost every meal before I ate it and I threw away a few because they were just so bland and did not look appetizing. Now for my real concern with this company, I was given a gift card by some friends to use for meals after my mom died. Nice gesture. The problem was, 1) the gift card has an expiration date?? 2) you cannot just use the gift card one and done, you HAVE TO subscribe to the service for bi weekly or weekly meals - not what I'm looking for. After one meal delivery that was quite underwhelming, I attempt to cancel the "subscription" (the online interface is not very user friendly) and they deliver the meals anyways, I get them to take it back and they do so, but the charge remains on my card. In 2 weeks, they try to deliver AGAIN. I ask them to please take back the delivery as I have several times online and via email and text asked them to cancel this subscription. This second charge is removed, but the first one is still on my card 2 months later. I've sent many many emails following up on my concern and requesting a refund to no avail. The $200 charge remains on my card for meals that they took back immediately upon delivery. I would not recommend these meals or this service to a friend.

The delivery tracker makes it easy to know when food is expected, the drop off has been trouble-free each time, and the Healthy Fresh Meals customer service team responded quickly to my inquiries. I work long hours in the city that often turn into late nights working from home. Before Healthy Fresh Meals, I struggled to balance spending fun, quality time with my daughter in the evenings while also cooking, catching up on chores, running to the grocery store for items I'd forgotten to purchase, and caring for our two pets. Add cleaning up after cooking, my daughter's extracurriculars, a challenging commute, and a few additional hours of work and I was exhausted. This meal prep service has not only given me back precious time - it has saved me a significant amount of money otherwise spent on healthy, yet costly dinners and lunches from the mainstream delivery apps. Thanks to the Healthy Fresh Meals team for the delicious food and helping a busy mom enjoy her evenings again!

It is notable for those headed up to or back from the Great Falls area as a good place to stop, which is how I ended up here. Their pizza selection notably includes a thicker Detroit-style and a thinner Nonna which I am less familiar with. I got a bit of an upgrade on the default pizza, their "basil boy" comes with extra basil, tomatoes, and pesto, which I opted to get on the side. Their sachets were a little leaky and I spilled some pesto oil, annoyingly. The pizza was a worthy endeavor, with a thin but interestingly crisped crust. It had plenty of flavor without the pesto, but I also enjoyed it with. I sampled one very indulgent chocolate cake slice which had a bit of a coffee note; I appreciate the general motif of "chocolate with just a little extra flavor to help you taste the chocolate". The menu was not huge overall, but I was happy with the pizza I got and would consider coming back or trying their Virginia location.
