Mary kicked the event off with letting us know the format of the night and was prepared from start to finish! I loved the centerpieces in the table that allowed you to break the ice by asking open ended conversation provoking questions to get the energy moving at your table. As the event got started Mary gave a snippet of what was to come with each transition in the program. The event was at a family owned Turkish restaurant. The unique format allowed us to learn about the history, first hand at that, from the brothers. As we were given the history, we noshed on some homemade bread followed by a mezze plate. We were also given a tutorial via demonstration on how to make their signature dish, Mousakka (which was devine). We rounded out the night with how to make Turkish tea that was paired with some signature desserts. The food was amazing and I loved how it was more than just a elevated dinner. We were able to learn not only about the restaurant itself but what makes their dishes so special. Mary has a fantastic thing going here and if you ever get the chance to attend of of her events, I highly encourage it!! Plus as an added bonus, all the events take place at establishments she has personally dined at!!! We like trying food from around the world and welcome any opportunity to learn about cuisine and its cultural connection. Hawwi's owners personally greeted us when we arrived and while they began to cook a signature dish they shared their stories about why they came to the U.S. and started their restaurant. When we were served there was a great variety of delicious food and plenty of it. I look forward to attending future Open Kitchen D.C. events. It would make a great girls night out event, birthday gift to attend with a friend, or a special event to bring a relative or friend visiting from out of town, etc... We hadn't seen each other in almost a year, so it was the perfect excuse to catch up while doing something creative. The event was simple and fun. We picked our magnets, selected our paint colors, grabbed some pastries, and spent the next couple of hours painting and chatting. It was such a relaxing way to spend a Sunday morning. Stefani was fantastic, friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer questions. The entire space felt warm and inviting, even for complete beginners. I love that they also offer beginner pottery classes, which I'm already adding to my list for a future visit. It's great to see a pottery studio opening in the area, and I'm excited to support a local business that's bringing creative experiences to the community.

She walked us through the history of perfumery and the categories of scents. We were free to sniff at any and all of the scents as we desired. We were then off to create two perfumes that we wanted. The only limitation was our own imagination! I set my mind on a summer one (Spring day with fresh flowers and clean linen) and winter one (eating my favorite cookies near the Christmas tree). It was such a blast attempting to create these scents and smelling how the different scents would work with each other. Despite the tall order, I was able to concoct the exact perfumes in my mind's eye with Sherry's help. My hubby created a beachy evening one and a mulled wine one that smell amazing, too. This was such a unique, memorable experience and I especially loved the shared experience with my partner. I love perfume and have a few scents on rotation so it was really neat to learn more about the craft and create my own. I can't recommend this studio enough!

An employee came up and helped us figure out which ones were cat safe as well! When we checked out Olivia helped us make our little flower arrangements come to life, definitely talented . It was n out expensive as we thought and they offer extra wrapping for 5 dollars which we chose to do! The inside space is also pretty cool and open, well spaced. They also offer premade bouquets and some in vases. Id go again for the next event when i'm in the area!
