Folks here are super. Back to being a single dad, as life events happen, and people change for the worse. Worst customer ever. I show up, ON my anniversary, having JUST been inspired to recreate the bouquet my wife carried at our wedding, with noting to convey the requirement but a low-resolution photo on my phone, which was about to die. They knocked it out of the park. I mean the first words out of my (long suffering) wife's mouth was "you had them recreate my bridal bouquet!" She loved them. And not once did they give me crap for doing it all so last minute. So long as my wife doesn't read this review, she will be under the impression that I was far more organized and attentive than I deserve to claim, and it is all because they made me look so good. I will be back. As a typical husband, I'll probably do it last-minute again, but I'm betting they will make me look even better if I give some lead time. read more

During our consultation, Crystal really listened to what I was looking for even though I couldn't give her specific instructions, only inspiration photos. When I arrived at both events, I was extremely happy with the flowers, especially since they were able to find some specific meaningful flowers to add to the displays. This has been our go-to flower shop for a few years (as you can see from my previous review), even though we now live across town. We recently went in on a weekday to get flowers for my elementary-aged sons' friend's bereaved mother on the anniversary of their friend's passing. I took the boys immediately after school and they were very excited to pick beautiful flowers for their friend's mom. We arrived at 4:50, thinking we had just enough time to put a bouquet together -- it's never taken me more than a few minutes in the past -- but when we walked in, we were essentially shooed right back out. We were told that they had no ready-to-grab arrangements, and that they "couldn't help us today" if we wanted to just pick some stems and have them wrapped. Something that would have taken less than three minutes. I asked if they were sure we couldn't just quickly grab something, and we were told unequivocally No. We left, got in the car, and backed out of the parking lot (by this time, it was *still* only 4:56) in time to see them flip the sign to Closed. Rather than create a bouquet from the heart, I wound up just taking the boys to Giant to get some generic flowers. While I understand not staying after hours, I truly don't understand the shop's unwillingness to sell flowers DURING business hours, and even to shut down before the posted closing time. Especially when two little boys just wanted to grab some stems for a very important occasion. All this to say that if you will be cutting your arrival time close at all, go somewhere else -- they certainly aren't "open" until 5. read more

Never, never use this company... they are NOT honest people, if you can call it that. I ordered, well in advance of my friend's birthday. To be delivered to his place of employment. Well....they finally arrived at 3:46 pm. His birthday is almost over and he had left for the day. The office staff sent me a picture of the roses and they were already bloomed out. When I called and spoke with Deb, for the 2nd or 3rd time. I asked her to replace them and then she pretended to speak with the owner and told me she said no. Anyways, a new friend I just met likes pink roses, so I popped in to buy a single one today. A young lady named Alyssa helped me, and went above and beyond. This past weekend I was a patient In Fairfax hospital recovering from spinal cord surgery. On Saturday afternoon My boyfriend's family who live out of town ordered a bouquet of tulips from this florist for him to deliver to my room. The tulips were (already beginning to be wilted ) we followed how to properly care for them in hopes that we could give them to the nurses when I got discharged.! Lastly, the icing on the cake was when I found out that the tulips were over $60.00!! Thankfully we didn't have to get them delivered that would have been more money wasted. When I have something in mind, I'll stop by and they are always happy to work with me on what I'm thinking. If I want more purple, I get more purple. If I want more greenery, I get more greenery. A Burke Florist company van was driving recklessly on Fairfax County Pkwy. The van was speeding and constantly changing lanes cutting it close from crashing into other vehicles. When the van driver confronted a road work truck by I395, the driver got even more reckless. I guess there was a flower emergency or driver had to use the bathroom immediately! I will never order flowers from Burke Florist. The reckless driving created a negative impression for this business, damaging its credibility. I did contact the business and they told me the owner would be notified. I also notified Fairfax Police. I do not recommend doing business with this company. The company responded to my comment below and the person who flipped their finger was NOT me! I observed the Burke Florist driver's reckless driving in front of me. The company's comment just confirms that another driver was annoyed with the Burke Florist van or they want to shift blame to me. Ridiculous! read more

I was so afraid with the wedding being in December and the short time frame but she worked her magic making sure everything was beautiful. Short version: I hired Burke Florist for our May wedding at the Carnegie Institution for Science. Their floral arrangements were GORGEOUS. Katie was also so sweet to work with and the prices were much more reasonable than anything else I'd been quoted. You will absolutely not regret using them for your wedding floral arrangements! So, the long version: I found out about Burke Florist because I'd gone to a friend's wedding the previous June and loved her flowers - she told me her experience working with them was great, so I decided to do a consultation. When I met Katie at the store, we looked over pictures I'd brought of the venue and what I envisioned. To be honest, I know very little about flowers - I can only name a handful - roses, hydrangeas, peonies... but I can look at a picture and say very quickly if I like it or not. That wasn't a problem at all for Katie! She was so kind, patient, and really listened to what I was trying to say. She gave a few suggestions while we were discussing what I wanted, and I left the meeting feeling like she really understood my style and preferences. When she emailed me the final quote a few days later, I was happy to see the price was very reasonable. I'd already gone through a few consultations with other florists that week, and some people were coming back with significantly higher prices. Our venue has this gorgeous mantle that I wanted to have decorated - another florist was charging twice as much to do the same thing with silk flowers! After feeling really comfortable with Katie's abilities and super happy about the quote, we decided to book them. But of course, throughout the months of planning, things got added, removed, modified... and even though I started to feel bad about it, not once did Katie make me feel like I was a nuisance. She still provided suggestions and made sure to clarify what my requests were so that they got it right. AND THEY DID. When I walked into the venue on Saturday, and I saw the arrangements and bouquets... I was in awe. They were exactly what I wanted - perfection. They were so, so gorgeous!!! I honestly couldn't have asked for anything better. Burke Florist (and Katie) - THANK YOU!!! I can't even begin to express just how much I loved the flowers. Your arrangements were perfect and brought the venue to life!!!! I loved my bouquet and my bridesmaids loved theirs as well!!
