Although I have had amazingly capable service and beautiful flowers and gifts from Karin's, I recently needed a floral wreath for the grave of a famous person buried at Arlington Cemetery. This was a remembrance from a VIP group from Texas I hosted. Having been extremely disappointed by the quality, delivery service, and follow through by florists in the Arlington, Virginia area, I sought alternatives close by. I am happy I did and happy Karin's was my choice. Kevin handled every detail of the arrangements with excellent recommendations. The group felt the wreath could not have been a better symbol of their love and admiration of the one interred. Written elegantly on the sash was their organization's name. The importance of this cannot be underestimated. I unfortunately have had wreaths where the stencilling on the sash appeared to have been done haphazardly by a child without any arts and crafts talent and brought tears to the eyes of those in charge. I worked with Carol on arrangements for a birthday party. I sent photos as references as well as a description of what I was looking for in terms of the color scheme. We went back and forth and I felt confident she understood my request. Unfortunately the flowers delivered not only didn't match the verbal description I'd provided, they also didn't correspond with the photos I'd sent. I'd asked for an analogous color scheme with yellow, orange, and peach to soften the pallet and ended up with a pink, green, and white scheme. They were lovely, but not what I'd ordered. I reached out to Carol to express my disappointment and she explained her choices. I might have understood if we hadn't exchanged photos, but the colors just aren't the right palette and Carol doesn't acknowledge seeing it. read more

We were married on 12/14/19. My family has been using Karin's florist for as long as I can remember for any special occasion. When it came time to pick a florist for my wedding, I knew in the back of my mind it would likely be Karin's. However, when we had our initial meeting with their Creative Director Bryan that is what absolutely sold me. Before our meeting they asked for any details we had about our wedding, including any pinterest pages we created. At the time, I had an idea of colors I liked and had pinned similar things. However, it wasn't until I met with Bryan that he was able to pinpoint the deco inspired theme that I was interested in and within minutes pull out pictures of flowers and inspiration he envisioned. His creativity was so inspiring and I felt absolutely excited for what was to come. Bryan and the rest of the team at Karin's worked with us to make sure we had everything covered and so that we could stay within a reasonable budget. We had a follow up meeting a few months before the wedding where Bryan shared examples of what he was planning, which was very comforting to see it in person before the big day. They were flexible with us when we added a few things last minute that we had not though about, and they didn't hesitate to go above and beyond for what we wanted. To really complete the deco inspired black, white, and gold theme, Bryan designed my bouquet to be all white flowers, with the Stephanopoulos flower (similar to my name) where he glued pearls inside the center of the flowers. This was beyond my wildest dream. To compliment the gold accent of our wedding, he spray painted leaves and used them as an accent for my bouquet and the décor in our chuppah and throughout the venue. They also were willing to have both tall and shorter centerpieces for the table, utilizing the amazing black and gold vases Karin's has for events. Finally, they worked with us to add flowers to the cake, which we didn't decide to do till the last minute. Overall, I couldn't have asked for anything better. They were professional, accommodating, and completely made the event spectacular! We pretty much went with his suggestions because...well, he's the professional and we've seen how lovely his other work has been. I've seen no one else post prices, but for bouquet, corsages, table floral, cocktail hour floral, arch rental, arch floral, and labor costs, it's less than $2,000 for us. There aren't enough kind words I can possibly say about Sarah and what she put together for my intimate wedding day. We had a small wedding of 25 guests, but I wanted it to be special. Classy, white flowers, lots of green and candles. That's basically the only guidance I gave her, and she absolutely nailed it. Sarah jumped in as more than just a 'florist'. You have the ability to work with the team and use their connections to also find chairs, table linens, plates, balloons, basically anything you need to create a gorgeous event. Every time I came to Sarah with a problem (ie: my wedding venues table cloths and dishes are hideous) she jumped in with gusto and offered me dozens of alternatives she hand selected. She was always mindful of price points and never once pushed me to purchase anything I didn't want. In fact, she actually helped me pull back in areas where I was probably trying to do a little too much, even though it ended up being cheaper for her to even suggest it. Devastated. This is only the 2nd bad review I've ever written in years because my experience was THAT HORRIFIC. I placed an order on the site for a next day delivery of a specialty bouquet (Star Wars themed) for a birthday. The order went through -- the site has a scheduler and everything -- and I assumed everything was fine. The next morning I get an email that says not only is the bouquet NOT available, but NONE of the themed bouquets advertised on their site were actually available, so there weren't even comparable replacement options. Their email suggested: "a glass vase" -- which almost seemed insulting? But what was ACTUALLY insulting was when I called customer service asking for help with a solution. All I got was snark and refusal. When I asked why the order was allowed to go through in their system in the first place if the options weren't available, the response was, "Well you placed it last night" -- as if that explained anything. Now I've been condescended, insulted, and I'm scrambling to think of something else. Long story short, if you've got a special occasion that requires an arrangement that's meaningful and timely, Karin's Florist is NOT WORTH THE RISK. Wedding Review: Karin's Florist provided my centerpieces, bouquets, boutonnieres, corsages, place card table display, and altar arch for my wedding at 8 Chains North Winery in early August. Bryan Swann, of Karin's Florist, was the first florist I met with to discuss floral plans. After going back and forth and meeting with a few other florists, I ultimately chose Bryan's services due to his creative vision and concern for remaining within my budget. I had very little direction in which I wanted to go, save for my colors (merlot and peach), and Bryan did an amazing job of drafting up his vision that would be casual yet classy for my outdoor ceremony. He was extremely knowledgeable and showed me tons of pictures of previous weddings and things he found on Instagram or Pintrest that he thought would work well. He was also incredibly honest in disclosing where he thought we could cut back and where he thought we should focus the majority of our budget allotment for floral. I did come to him with a few pictures for the arch I envisioned and he was helpful in asserting how much that was going to cost (WAY out of budget) and help me chose something that came within budget and still looked fabulous. The cost of our floral services was quite reasonable compared to other vendors and delivery, set-up, and take down (of the arch) went seamlessly. Wedding Review: My wife and I got married in February '17. We funded the wedding ourselves, so we made sure to meet with lots of vendors for all aspects of the wedding. After talking with 4-5 florists and visiting with 2-3, we were sold on Karin's by a landslide. Our first meeting was with Bryan Swann. He was incredibly knowledgeable about all Karin's had to offer, but also about our venues (church and reception hall) and what would go well in those particular locations. Unlike the other florists we spoke with, he didn't try to up-sell us on anything (which is something I was on the lookout for). In fact, Bryan even told us when he thought certain things were unnecessary. In the end, we felt like we were still getting more than the other florists were offering for about 75% of the cost! (My wife, brother, and I played a game while they were working up the quote where we guessed how much the total would come out to and we all way overshot the actual number). We decided right then and there to commit to Karin's and paid our 50% down payment. Side note: while meeting with Bryan, a local high school prom was going on. Nervous adolescent boys kept walking in with their mothers to pick up their boutonnieres and corsages and we just sat there laughing at the funny/awkward interactions between the boys, their moms, and the other employees at Karin's. The employees were great with the kids, and offered their best wishes for a fun and safe prom night. A few months later, leading up to the wedding, we were wrapping up our loose ends and paying remaining balances for our vendors. I had an unfortunate financial situation happening and asked Bryan (over phone) if we could pick up our own flowers and forego any delivery fee. He was happy to oblige, which was incredibly helpful to our situation. WEDDING DAY: My wife and I are in total agreement; of all our vendors, we were the MOST satisfied with Karin's. Everything was perfect: the church arrangement, the boutonnieres and corsages, the bouquets, and the table centerpieces. The Bride's Bouquet was particularly noteworthy. It had an amazing cascade of flowers (roses, blue thistle, and some other stuff..) and was just stunning. It was also pretty heavy.. I have no idea how my wife held it all day! The flowers smelled and looked far better than we expected and we received countless complements throughout the day on them. In the end, I could not have been any more satisfied with the quality and service that we received from everyone at Karin's. I will start off by saying that everyone tells you that things will go wrong on your wedding day. The only, yet surprising thing that went wrong on my wedding day, were the flowers provided by Karin's Florist. After purchasing flowers for over a year from them for special occasions, and raving about their work, it actually pains me to give this Florist a 2 star review. We met with Bryan at Karin's Florist several times throughout the planning process. He was nothing but wonderful and he had amazing ideas. We couldn't wait to see what he would do on the day of our wedding. Sadly, the flowers were a huge disappointment. I will start out with the positive. Luckily, the reception and ceremony flowers were absolutely gorgeous. They turned out exactly how I imagined and how we discussed with Bryan. Our wedding colors were navy and gold, with accents of white and blush. We discussed arrangements of white and blush flowers with greenery. He arranged HUGE pieces on each side of the altar, and gorgeous tall centerpieces for our reception tables, which we got a lot of compliments on. This is one of the only reasons this vendor is getting a 2 star review, rather than a 1 star review. When we had met in person, I showed Bryan a picture of my wedding dress, and he said "wow. That's a statement dress..." We then discussed a bridal bouquet that was not cascade or round, but more of a hand-tied look, with calla lilies, blush and white roses, and greenery to add volume. I asked for the bridesmaid bouquets to be blush and white as well. The groomsmen boutonnieres were to be blush. Despite these conversations, the wedding party flowers, and my bouquet were a complete disaster. As I stated, we had discussed shades of blush throughout all of the bouquets. The bridesmaid's bouquets were hot pink/magenta. The groomsmen calla lily boutonnieres were also hot pink/magenta. My bouquet came as a small, completely round bouquet, with all white flowers, and some small, ugly red flowers added in. In addition to there being no blush in my bouquet, there was zero volume and zero greenery. The bridal bouquet was so underwhelming, that the bridesmaid bouquets looked like nothing. When the flowers were delivered, my mom was convinced they delivered the wrong flowers. When I saw my bridal bouquet I asked my mom, "is this a joke?" Bryan did his best to "fix" it the day of the wedding, but there was no fixing this. My photographer did a great job of getting a lot of pictures without my hideous bouquet, but that's all I see in my photos of me walking down the aisle. In addition to the wedding party flowers not matching my wedding color scheme, the flowers were delivered one full hour late, which caused a lot of stress, and delayed our meticulously scheduled wedding day timeline. Because of this, I have no detail photos with wedding flowers. Bryan claimed that he had 3:00 p.m., in his notes, even though I had an e-mail saved that confirmed a 2:00 p.m. delivery. He also had a paper copy of the itinerary from our last in person meeting, which indicated at 2:00 p.m. delivery. My dress had sparkles throughout the entire fabric, so Bryan had a wonderful idea to add crystal bling to the centerpiece at our sweetheart table. I was so excited about this, but alas, it wasn't there. He said he simply forgot. This is just plain sloppy. I was very shocked at the lack of attention to detail on my wedding day. The second and last reason that this florist is getting 2 stars, instead of 1, is that my mom met with Bryan and the shop owner after the wedding, and they refunded her money for the wedding party flowers and for my bouquet. They made a lot of excuses for the mistakes, like the color of flowers came in darker than expected. If that was the case, my mom or I should have received a phone call prior to the wedding. We did not. In fact, my mom spoke with Bryan via phone the day before the wedding to give him delivery instructions. He never mentioned the change in color of the flowers. It's nonsense that the ceremony and reception flowers were blush and matched my color scheme, while the wedding party flowers did not. It almost felt like Bryan decided to change to the colors of the bouquets and boutonnieres, because he felt like it. He told my mom the red flowers in my bridal bouquet were his favorite flowers. Does it matter what the florist's favorite flowers are, when the bride didn't ask for that? I don't think so. Bryan introduced an unwanted element of spontaneity on my wedding day. If you care about attention to detail and your florist listening to you, I urge you to find a different florist for your wedding. If you do get flowers from here, I suggest you be VERY clear on what you want and tell them it is not to be changed. Don't give him any artistic freedom; you will regret it. read more

I walked in right as they were opening, looked around at the arrangements they had available and then was approached by a jolly young man with a shaved head, pink shirt and a fierce flair. He was very helpful and immediately knew where to find pieces to make what I described I wanted. He got the designers started right away and rang me up in style. The arrangement arrived within the timeframe I had specified, and it was quite beautiful when I saw it later. They did a great job! No issues whatsoever. I recently relocated to NOVA and was looking for a florist to continue an annual tradition of recreating my wife's bridal bouquet as a floral arrangement for our anniversary. For a Mother of Bride corsage yesterday (Wednesday), I visited the store at 9am; I'd forgotten to order the corsage beforehand, and now we were on our way to the courthouse. The staff was as excited for the bride (and her mom) as I was, asked me what colors we needed, and said, do you want to wait fifteen minutes? I went to do another errand in town, and when I returned, they had designed, created, and packaged, like a gift, a beautiful corsage for the MOB. I had googled beforehand, and thought corsages of this size and quality were about $65. No, it was $49 at Karin's. I can't tell you how easy-peasy this florist made what could have been an otherwise stressful wedding morning. Let me see if I can edit and attach a photo. I have lived six blocks away in Vienna for seven years and never thought to use Karin's though I admire their windows daily. We kept it with the appropriate water as directed. Roses wilted, hydrangea, and the rest did the same thing. Really, not even a week? When you pay money at a florist you should get good quality flowers that should last a week or more. That is our experience elsewhere. But bad quality flowers will die fast.
