Ordered flowers for daughter's birthday, arrangement ordered was to be variations of purple/lavender hues with a purple vase and two birthday balloons. This order was placed via teleflora and filled by Chantilly flowers. The recipient forwarded a picture to me of the arrangement and I was extremely displeased. The bouquet was not as full as depicted -the vase was clear and not purple and not one birthday balloon was present. I contacted Teleflora and I imagine they contacted the florist. I received a call from someone named Alex who apologized for the initial arrangement not being to my satisfaction and would send out another. I indicated that the recipient would be at her place of business the following day. Not only did Alex have another arrangement delivered, it was exceptionally beautiful with a purple vase and two balloons attached. My daughter was extremely pleased and happy. I am beyond thrilled with the Christmas centerpiece that I received yesterday! My sister lives in the outskirts of Winchester, Va, and I tried ordering her a centerpiece for her table (as a Secret Santa surprise to go with the quilted table runner I made for her) through teleflora......even selected and paid for an arrangement, plus tip, only to find out 2 days later that they had simply cancelled my order! HOW TO KEEP YOUR FLOWERS LONGER As an event planner, I get this question often from my clients. Here are the facts: 1. The flowers you received have been cut at least a week ago from a warm climate state or more likely, overseas. I'll let that sink in for a second.... AT LEAST A WEEK AGO. You have to think of them like delicate produce. What happens to parsley or bagged lettuce when you leave it out of the fridge for 2 days? 2. Distributors and florists do the following to keep your blooms looking nice: -cut the ends of the stems in a diagonal cut using something very sharp every day -keep the flowers in cold water and change that water every day -keep them away from sunlight, heat and room temp -keep them refrigerated If you're not willing to do all of that (and I don't blame you) then expect your flowers to last 1-2 days. Degradation will happen rapidly. 3. Those little packets of floral longevity don't work. Neither do any tricks you find on YouTube. Those flowers have been dying since the moment they got cut a week ago. 4. Nothing speeds along rot faster than warmth and fetid water. The stems of the flowers are rotting in the water. Another reason I don't buy arrangements pre-made and sitting in my local grocer's fridge. They've been in there at least several days. You want fresh arrangements done right before you pick them up. January 2019 A SIX rating if we could! We can't say enough about the exceptional service Chantilly Flowers, and especially Alex gave us last week. We live in San Diego, CA. and wanted to send some flowers to our daughter-in-law for the birth of our grandson. We have only been to Chantilly, VA once so we read reviews online and went with Chantilly Flowers. Alex told us of a storm coming in and went out of his way to locate the hospital our daughter-in-law was in and when she would be home so the flowers wouldn't have to be left outdoors. He also explained and helped with the different sizes and details of the arrangement we chose - and no, it wasn't the most expensive. Besides all of this he included a nice addition to the order which made it even more special. If we can provide one piece of advise that has served us well, that is to go online and find a good local florist where ever you need flowers delivered and call and work directly with them. you will not be working with someone in a call center that is perhaps thousands of miles away. You will find out about local conditions - such an approaching snow storms - and develop a connection with the business actually making and delivering the flowers. I underwent surgery last week and am recuperating at home. I ordered a bunch of Peonies online and they didn't work out because FedEx sent it to the wrong apartment and by the time the flowers were redirected to me the buds had disintegrated coz they were shipped without water. Incredible customer service. Made a pretty last minute order that was pretty large for funeral wreaths and sprays, and they were nothing but accommodating to our requests, no matter how unreasonable. They also were willing to give great advice on how to make the setting for the funeral look the best as they are very experienced in orders for these kind of events. I tend to have bad luck ordering flowers, so she and I spent quite a bit of time discussing what the arrangement should be.
