(They only offer milk based milk options) The coffee itself had a good taste I do think I would have preferred just a regular iced coffee with the flavor but I know that for next time. I did enjoy being able to look at the offerings of the connected store (Basic.) they had many unique things for sell including clothing, shoes and various books. Tyler was great with helping make my selection of drink and I loved how patient he was with assisting on the order. The feel of the space was very comfortable and welcoming to creatives. I love the location and how it is in walking distance to so many things. Thankfully I was able to find a parking spot across the street and didn't have to pay to park. Basic. is the store sharing the space and it is nice to be able to browse their inventory while waiting for your drinks. They have some things that I have not seen anywhere else if I had to compare it to another store I would compare it to Earth Bound. Everything seemed to be environmentally conscious which is always nice to see.

Every time I go to a new coffee shop in Birmingham I think: "wow! This is my favorite coffee shop…read moreyet!" Grounds did NOT disappoint and I have no idea why it took me so long to come here. It's located right along 2nd Ave amongst all of the restaurant hubbub. Street parking, but if you're willing to take a stroll for a couple blocks, it's easy. This is one of the busier coffee shops in town, I would advise against seeking silence here. It's a shared space with "basic," a vintage clothing and art retailer which has awesome things made by local people. The people that worked there were so friendly. I came because I had to get that crème brûlée latte. It did not disappoint. One of the most delicious coffee drinks I've had in a long time. It tasted like a hug, perfectly caramel sweet, and fun to drink. It's not often that coffee gets turned into an interactive experience. The pastries looks great. The couch in the front window looked like an awesome spot to post up with some buddies. There were plenty of tables and chairs to work at. I will most certainly be back.

El Barrio - Chicken quesadilla (get the birria instead...)

When me and mi familia were driving through Birmingham, we stopped at El Barrio for dinner. We had…read morea great experience! The food here was great. For starters, we got chips and queso. They were really good. After enjoying the starters, I ordered some chicken tacos. They were great! The guacamole was definitely my favorite part. I really enjoyed my meal. The service here was great! Our waiter was super kind and helpful. The inside was super clean. The bathrooms were very clean too. This place had a good Ambiance to it. Overall, great Mexican restaurant and I highly recommend trying it if you are ever in Birmingham.

We heard lots of good things about El Barrio and since we were in the downtown area, we decided to…read morecheck it out ourselves... So glad we did! Being downtown, parking is not always the greatest, but it was a lovely evening for walking less than a block to the restaurant. It was a Saturday evening so there was a little wait, but we were able to sit outside and have a drink while we waited. Once inside, the place was dimly lit, really loud with music and very clean. And for having unisex bathrooms, those were surprisingly clean as well. Our waitress was great, I wish I could remember her name... but I do know she was from Cali. We ordered a couple of strawberry margaritas, which were just your basic drink, but still refreshing. Started off with a basket of chips, salsa and fundido. This is considered an appetizer, so no freebies here. The chips were fresh and warm, the salsa had a nice flavor and the fundido was ok according to the kiddo. We had the grilled shrimp tacos with rice and beans. You had to assemble your own tacos tonight, and order rice and beans separately as the taco plate had no sides, but all delicious.... Beans had a nice kick, the shrimp tacos were missing something in my opinion, but not sure what. We also had the best shrimp quesadilla we ever tried. It has overly stuffed and cheesy with wonderful lime cream sauce to go with it. This entree was a huge hit all around and it did come with a side, so no extra charges. To finish off dinner, we all shared the strawberry tres leches and OMG... Absolutely the best we have had in a while. Too bad it's seasonal. Over all, great experience and would definitely g

Peterbrooke Chocolatier Birmingham - Goody bag from their grand opening, thanks Peterbrooke!!

First of all....I am sorry, Madi!! The many pictures I took today at the grand opening all…read moredisappeared after my phone glitched, including the very cute one of you! I will update this review with an even cuter photo of you on my next visit, promise! Okay....now that's out of the way lol. I saw on Facebook that Peterbrooke Chocolatier is having their grand opening today, so I had to go check it out. Boy, am I glad I did! They had samples galore due to the grand opening and I got to try several of their yummy selections, including chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered pineapple, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered rice krispie treats, etc. While they will not have the same variety of samples on the future outside of the grand opening event, I was told that they will always have a plate of samples out close to the register! They have milk chocolate and dark chocolate for sure....and I am sure white chocolate but I didn't pay attention to that since I am not a white chocolate kind of gal. I can honestly say their milk chocolate is quality stuff. You can definitely tell the difference, no cheap imitation here! Also, they have gelato available in the store.....I want to say at least 10 flavors? I forgot to get an exact count, but they look delicious. Also, and this is a big one for me, they have chocolate caramel green apples. Yes, they do! So there is only one other store in Birmingham that I know of with chocolate caramel apples....but it's no good as the chocolate the other store uses is just not up to par and leaves a funny taste. I eat a lot of chocolate caramel apples and currently I mail-order them as I expect them to be of certain quality. However, I am really excited to try Peterbrooke's chocolate caramel apple next time I make my way there as I already know they have quality chocolate from the samples today! It would be fantastic if I can find a local store with awesome chocolate caramel apples! Anyway, so the fact that my phone glitched and I have no good photos for Yelp other than the one I "borrowed" from their Facebook page and the one I took after I got home of the goody bag they gave out at their grand opening today is the perfect excuse to go back and visit them again....very soon! Oh, wait, almost forgot! In regard to their service? Their employees were super nice! I already mentioned Madi. She was personable and friendly when I met her today and she talked to me about their gelatos and chocolate caramel apples. Nice employees always make any store even more of a pleasure to visit! Thanks, Madi!!

After searching through several Chocolatier's in the Birmingham area looking for family a gift card…read moreso they could have fun choosing their own chocolates, I decided to use Peterbrooke as they had an online e-Gift Card option, where the other shops did not offer this. I decided to call the local store to confirm they would accept the GC and the sweetest lady went above & beyond to help me place an order through the store's register. She sent me a screen shot for confirmation and mailed the GC that day, to family. They were so surprised & pleased! Apparently the online e-Gift Cards can only be used for ONLINE purchases. So keep that in mind.
