Lots of good donuts today. There was a long line, which should tell you everything you need to know about this place.

Excellent donuts but the cinnamon rolls are out of this world. Choices are many, some of my favorite ones are the buttermilk and maple glazed. Everything is freshly made in the morning and sometimes before noon, they're all gone. Especially the cinnamon rolls. The restaurant is clean and tables are provided for dine in; they accept card payments; I only see two people who worked the counter and I am assuming they are mother and son. I recommend this establishment.

Donut cravings Searched for the closest donut shop from my home and this is one of the donut shops that popped up in Yelp. Made it here but wait! from my car view I see a bunch of little kids inside the shop with their parents... nothing like seeing little ones all sugared up. Thankfully, they were all on their way out and I had the shop to myself. I purchased half a dozen donuts. Some raised glazed, a couple of chocolate and, my favorite, cinnamon roll. Service was pleasant and friendly from the employee. The donuts were delicious and made fresh, pillow soft... so yummy but I surrendered at two! Two was good enough for me. The rest were gobbled up by my family. LoL! Pricing depends on the donuts you choose. My six came out to $10.25. The shop is located at a strip mall at the Elverta Crossing Shopping Center on Watt Avenue in Antelope. Lots of parking. Donuts are a classic pastry that has continued to inspire me over time. I shall return. Review #2868

$20 bucks for a dozen for basic donuts. Way too pricey. Definitely not worth it. It's way over too pricey.

Overprice for standard donut, they needed the money for their small pink box. Not the friendliest character in the morning.

With Donut King being open 24/7, they've NEVER let me down when 'called' upon. Which goes to say, Hubs & I are frequent customers of the late night variety. And with us being in our mid-40s, that means after dark but still before 9pm. LOL But hey, I'm sure the consistency we've experienced means we'd likely get the same tasty goodness & friendly service at ANY time of day--at least that's what I'd like to think. Sometimes, we may stop in for a late afternoon treat if in the area shopping or whatnot. So yeah, they consistently good. Some days the case variety may be a little more....sparse, but still enough selection to feel like they don't have something worthwhile. Most times, the case is pretty full, containing the usual classics and a few not so classics. But don't come here looking for that specialty, high-end, bougie-style donut. No no! This is your standard, run-of-the-mill, good ol' fashioned Old Fashioned donut variety, which just so happens to be one of my favorite to get, either in chocolate or maple glaze. Apple fritters are another go-to, while a rainbow sprinkle and even a sugar or crumb donut can be found. Custard filled? Check. Donut holes, absolutely. Maple bar (another go-to of mine) is also a yummy classic served up here. But the one we got on our most recent visit, the one that spurred me actually finally writing up this review, was a BLUEBERRY filled donut. Now, I do love most anything blueberry, so full disclosure. But when hubby tells me even HE found this donut to be SUUUUPER good, that's when I know my tastebuds aren't being biased. Before I wrap this up, let me bring it back to service. The Asians behind the counter, as I've mentioned earlier, is always friendly. Even if/when there occasionally are other patrons besides us, I've witnessed they treat people so nicely, practically as family. It makes me believe they have regulars, but maybe that's just their standard--and if that's the case, it's not a bad business model! So I certainly hope Donut King keeps things going strong and they continue to be abundantly blessed with great customers, to be around for many years to come. Check them out if you haven't, or maybe it's been a while. I'm telling you, these donuts are DEE-liciously approved!!

I went to Jimmy's donuts on a cold Sunday morning to give them a shot. Located in Rio Linda, Jimmy's Donuts looks like a place from yesteryear. It has an old looking facade and not a whole lot of modern touches anywhere. I'm not sure how long Jimmy's has been in operation, but from the looks of it, it's been a long time. Jimmy's has all the classic donuts that you could be looking for. There are the rounds, the bars, the old fashioned, buttermilk, etc. You can also get larger treats like bear claws and fritters. I went ahead and got a little more than a dozen so that I could get a good taste of how these donuts were. In all, I'd say the donuts were extremely solid. I was a little wary of the maple donuts at first because the maple they put on the top looked a little paler than I'm used to seeing, but it was still good. In fact, the chocolate and maple toppings had a nice light touch to them. You can't go wrong with these donuts as they are classic and are made just the way they should be. One surprise from Jimmy's had to be the custard filling that they used. They actually had some bars filled with custard, which I thought was unique. I gave one a try and genuinely thought it was a great idea that other places should do as well. I love custard so the more the better. There were also bear claws filled with apple. Again, I hadn't seen this sort of thing done at most places so I'd have to give Jimmy's credit for having a few unique offerings. If you're thirsty, there are a number of drink options that you can select from out of the cold cases to the right of the store. Jimmy's is a simple operation without much frill. That's totally ok as they aren't trying to be more than what they are - a solid donut shop.
