Not sure if it is the dough or the fryer setting but donuts I've tried (Apple fritter and basic donuts) were all seemingly undercooked and gooey. One of my favorite donut locations! I passed this place on my way to work and decided to finally try it. I went here during the holidays and let me tell you, the lady who owns the shop is SO NICE!!! I was taking a minute to decide which donut I wanted to get and we started to talk a bit. She was so kind to offer me to try a free eggroll! SO TASTY!! Honestly made my day. If you see this, thank you Her donuts are delicious. I am basic and get the usual chocolate or maple donut. The crust of the donut gives a slight crisp crunch when you bite it and the inside of the breading is so light and airy. They offer many types of donuts here, I would recommend going a bit earlier if you want more of a selection. They get sold out quick! This is also a good place to eat breakfast. Ube Chocolate Donut The outdoor sign just simply says DONUTS... that was good enough to catch my attention. It was a Sunday afternoon around 1:15p when I poked my head inside to see what was left for the day. They closed at 2:00p. I wanted a raised glaze but they were all out... I purchased a few chocolate glazed donuts (which is also a yummy substitute), an old-fashion and a frosted donut. The donuts were light and airy... so good. My daughter loved the frosted cake donut. Owner is super nice and friendly. As I was paying he had me sample a chocolate Ube donut complimentary... on the house. The catch is I have to eat it inside the shop to let him know how I liked it... I'm probably in the 2% who is not a huge fan of Ube but I took a bite... and a second... I didn't really like it... I LOVED IT!! I wanted to get more but it was the last one! Came here after finding it here on Yelp since I'm new to the area for work. This donut spot was the closest and on the way so decided to stop by to grab a dozen donuts for my staff as a Friday treat. Immediately had great customer experience with the lady at the cash register. She helped me choose which donuts to put in the box and I also wanted a Thai tea drink, but she politely told me they were out of stock. I told her I wanted something sweet so she recommended the Vietnamese coffee which I had before but first time here. She made it perfectly sweet to my liking. I also ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich and it was BY FAR the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The only thing I will say is they have limited seating area if people were to sit and eat. Unfortunately service was not good lady didn't seem friendly didn't know how to use the computer register and the man tried to help her but she just kept talking in her native language. Did not like that I felt like I was over charged $26.50 for a dozen donuts they first charged me $16.50 for a dozen charged me more for 6 large donuts in which I only got 4. And said that the toppings one with cereal and cookies were specialty's so that was extra. Are you kidding me for cereal topping thats like sprinkles and for an Oreo/ animal cookie that's wild. It's Christmas. I'm hungry and on the longish drive to see family. I need something to tide me over till I get there. The last 3 Starbucks I've past have lines around the block...I don't have the patience for that. I spot a donut sign and think that will have to do the job. I go to yelp...I always look at donut reviews because you just never know. Yelp said it was closed but I saw people inside so I went in. This spot was clean and the owner...he was sooooooo cool. They open at 6am, I got there five minutes early. At 6:05, the door was still locked in the "open" sign was still turned off, but there was a gal inside restocking a drink fridge that was near the door. I went and tapped on the door and the lady refused to look up. I looked and the mixer was going, but the donut case was completely empty. OMG talk about a hidden gem (Ok, maybe not so hidden, but it's been hiding from me!)! Manley's is a tiny but mighty donut shop putting out some fresh, light & airy pastries. The display case may be small but they still had a good variety of flavors and types of donuts and pastries. But since we got there later in the morning we already missed out on donut holes and the ube donuts I read about, and why I chose Manley's. When I asked if there were any ube donuts, he handed me one and said, "see if this is green tea or ube." I bit into the freshest, most flavorful moist donut ever! I said, "it's green tea but omg it is sooooo good!" I can imagine the ube one is just as scrumptious. I gobbled that up while I was deciding what else to get. My husband and the man helping us (owner?) got to talking football. He was really cool and so nice and welcoming. He even threw in another green tea donut in our bag for free. I had something that was called a "sunflower," and the texture and taste was like Hawaiian bread with chocolate icing and slivered almonds on top. It was fantastic. Another little hole-in-the-wall donut shop, the kind we pass daily without a second thought. We have passed this place hundreds of times over the years and never really paid any attention to it. We had our favorite place for donuts (Donut Spot in Orangevale) and all was good. Then, the owners of Donut Spot sold the business. The quality went to s**t and we were bereft of a good place for donuts. Driving by today, as we have before, I was seized with an urge to stop in and at least give it a shot. The smell gets you as soon as you walk in the door. Sweet, something savory, all around mouth watering. The guy behind the counter is all smiles and hospitality. We order our donuts and I notice as he is packing them in the bag, there are a fair number of donut holes making their way in there too. We get to the register to pay, and he hands us a donut, fresh, hot, and just out of the glaze bath. Once we reach the car, I bite into it because it's burning my hands. OMG... The absolute *DEFINITION* of "pillowy" and "soft" meets my tongue. The glaze is nicely sweet, but not so thick that it overwhelms the flavor of the donut itself. In a word, heaven. I had my raspberry filled a little while later, it too has the same delicious, pillowy texture and the tartness of the raspberry filling is a perfect counterpoint to the sweet glaze. Amazing! I knew I would return before I even walked out of the door with my box of donuts. They were so kind and polite and even threw in several extra donuts for me when I mentioned it was my first time in their shop. They have a Reese's donut that is actually stuffed with an entire Reese's peanut butter cup. I've never seen that anywhere else.
