My go-to when I'm in a pinch for time or need a quick breakfast. Service is friendly and very fast, even if the line is out the door. Sandwiches usually come out fast but you can end up waiting 5-10 minutes if they get an influx of orders. Like everything else now, it's not as affordable as it once was. A large iced and a sandwich runs about $10 before tipping. Rather than coming daily, I now treat it as a luxury. I normally forgo coming to get a sub or a couple slices for lunch instead. One thing that is strange is that they don't have any napkin dispensers. If Honey Dew was ever supposed to be a proper, predictable donut chain with a rigid chain of command and some sort of consistency between branches, then these dudes have gone completely off the reservation, Col. Kurtz-style. And I mean that as the highest of compliments. Their apple cider donuts are not, in any way, reminiscent of what you'd get at some orchard, but they're still the best expression of an old-school, New England-style old-fashioned honey dew donut I've ever had in a chain store, and nothing like I've ever found at a Honey Dew before. In fact, it's easily better than what you'd find at similar independent donutters -- in particular, I'm thinking of Gail Ann in Belmont and Linda's in Arlington. But, as rad as it was, the cider donut isn't why this place deserves the Kurtz Award. Their Reeses' Peanut Butter donut is absurd. And I don't use that word lightly. It's excessive and joyous in a Voodoo Donuts (in Portland, Oregon) kind of way that beats out even Kane's for sheer wackiness. The donut itself isn't any better than their other raised offerings, but they still get all the credit in the universe for going balls-out. There's enough hypersweetened chocolate filling inside that sucker to frost a medium-sized cat, and the peanut butter-smeared top is coated with what my wife (a legitimate expert on all things Reeses') conservatively estimated to be the crumbled remains of "at least four full-size peanut butter cups." read more

I'm writing about this HoneyDew for one reason, and one reason ONLY: The Iced Coffee! ;) I can go to a single Dunkin Donuts several times in one day and have the iced coffee taste significantly different each time, and not always good. But, my nephew introduced me to something very peculiar -- the iced coffee at this HoneyDew is SPOT ON every single time. Go figure this one a Bagel with butter costs more than a bagel with cream cheese. Coffee is good. Service is good. Bagel wasn't toasted enough, and they added a few slabs of hard butter in the bag. I was slightly annoyed because I was taking this to go and really like them to butter the bagel. Even more annoying was the butter was rock hard and the bagel was cold so it wasn't enjoyable. Staff was very friendly and when I asked why it was over $4 for a medium coffee and bagel with butter she gave me a "senior" discount. I will probably give this place another try. read more

Forget Starbucks and Dunks. The coffee at Honey Dew (both hot and iced) is much tastier. They don't seem to put the heavy syrups in their coffee that the competitors do. Oh.. and did I mention the cupcakes? Try the chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting. I wandered in the other day and went, "Oh? They have cupcakes?" Came here for the first time today and won't be back. We tried the french vanilla and blueberry cinnamon flavors both terrible. The french vanilla didn't taste anything like french vanilla more like ice water with coffee flavoring and the blueberry cinnamon was so overwhelming with cinnamon it was gross. I went here on my break from work yesterday for a frozen ice tea. When I ordered, the two girls behind the counter just looked at each other repeating back and forth "frozen ice tea?" Go for the donuts (early in the day) skip the coffee. So the positives- I usually find the staff friendly enough seeing as they are dealing with a high volume of customers. They have a huge variety of donuts and I think the pricing is fair considering they are gigantic. The negatives- I never seem to enjoy their coffee- dunks or even the $1 coffee you make yourself at the Cumberland next store is preferable. Bagels just ok, croissants GROSS- they taste frozen and are absolutely covered in grease. The biker crowd everyone refers to has never been a problem for me- the group of senior men who sit inside however, have. They have Fox News permanently on tv and sit there chatting (and taking up legit 95% of the parking lot) for hours every day. I could ignore them if I didn't have to hear commentary like the other day- when a story was on tv about a woman who had been sexually assaulted, that they chimed in and one said "she must be lying" the second said "she must have enjoyed it" and the third said "she would be lucky that anyone would want to **** her."
