Cashew shrimp
Connie C.

This is a solid 3.5 stars but I tend to round up. So for the positive points, they had a really nice server and the inside was very decorated nicely and clean. I did order cashew shrimp, which I've never had before. It was really flavorful but a little salty. The only negative was, it was heavy with celery and green bell peppers. So i'm not totally a fan of those two vegetables, but again the flavor was fantastic. And it came with a small soup. Hot tea is an extra two dollar charge. I am glad that I finally tried this restaurant.

More than decent

Taste of Sichuan was packed so we went here: what a pleasant surprise. It's generally a good idea to order the first thing listed on the menu. Here, under the seafood heading, is the ample boneless fish filet in hot spicy gravy: excellent! Ordered six other dishes which were at or above par. The only unanimous disappointment was the salt and pepper deep fried squid. No outer crisp and too chewy, a far cry from Eastside's Zien Hong. Service was prompt and uncharacteristically attentive for a Chinese restaurant. Parking was relatively easy. A winner of a place that probably isn't top of mind.

It is easy to understand why Hometown Taste has received such a high rating. It is that good. I have been driving by the restaurant a few times, and I looked it up here and saw the many positive comments. With Super Bowl the next day, I wanted to go out and I love GOOD Chinese Food. This it it. My wife and I went to Hometown Taste and we enjoyed the food immensely. Good Taste Noodle is also quite good, but this is better. We started with an appetizer of Vegetable Egg Rolls. So good. I ordered the Sweet & Sour Chicken and it was so excellent. Very fresh. My wife had the Deep Fried Tofu Szechuan Style and she loved it. We also shared an order of the Vegetable Chow Mein and Vegetable Fried Rice. Both were also phenomenal. (she is vegetarian). We will be back to dine in or also take food home. It is now our #1 go to.

Grilled whole fish

Dine-in was not busy on a hot Wednesday evening. (The A/C works well!) They seem to have a robust take-out business. Grilled whole fish (4/5): This is a large shareable dish. The fish seems fried, which I prefer, so the tail bones were crispy and edible. The garlic version comes with a lot of veggies. (It's market price, but ours was $52) Chow beef haw fun (5/5): good balance of noodles, veg, and beef with good wok taste Sizzling fried soft tofu plate (5/5): tastes just as I wanted it to with a nice variety of mushrooms; delivered to the table literally sizzling! Steamed white rice is extra, which I'm not a fan of. Restaurant is clean; service is fine. I'll be back for my Cantonese favorites!

Sizzling beef & mushroom

Took a friend and colleague here for dinner. The soup was outstanding (fish & pickled cabbage). The sizzling beef & mushroom entree was good, but the honey shrimp & walnut was just OK. Good service,

Hot chicken! Comes with green beans. Sauces are mine that I brought in....but the chicken is very very good! And AMAZING cocktail!

Ok...this place is a bit...well...a lot...dicey. BUT...good things come in strange packages...or something like that! This place actually has pretty good Chinese food. The best in town? No. But good...yes. So why five stars? It is the bar! The bar is a hidden gem -- and also hidden! It is a room in the heart of the restaurant. And it is awesome! Full menu available...and the staff is the best! Great drinks...good food...and great price! If you find yourself in the area stop by for a drink...and food is decent!!

Tried the kung pow chicken, and it was equally delicious!!

Another amazingly delicious meal here at Hometown taste. Sizzling black pepper beef and Mongolian beef are my favorites. It's so rare that I go to a place and I can't stop eating because the food is so delicious. Great service and THANK YOU for consistently awesome food!

Having celebrated Chinese New Year dinners for 14 years with my Chinese spouse across various Bay Area and local restaurants, I can confidently say this was our best celebration meal yet. Unlike the Bay Area, where CNY reservations are notoriously difficult to secure, local celebrations have typically been more relaxed. However, I'm grateful I made a reservation through Yelp this time - the restaurant was packed, and we would have faced a significant wait otherwise. The busy atmosphere did create some initial service chaos, and the full parking lot forced my husband to park a few blocks away. We ordered family style, as is traditional. As a vegetarian, I couldn't sample everything, but two dishes stood out remarkably: Vegetarian Chow Fun: The noodles were exceptional - not oily at all - with perfectly cooked broccoli Eggplant in Spicy Garlic Sauce: While this is my mother-in-law's regular order wherever we dine, this version was extraordinary. The eggplant was cooked to perfection, and the sauce burst with flavor The quality was so impressive that I'll definitely return even outside of Chinese New Year celebrations.

Beef Fried Rice

Open 365 days First time trying out another Chinese restaurant since "Taste of Sichuan" is closed due to kitchen fire. We ordered: Beef fried rice Garlic pork spare ribs (deep fried) String bean beef String bean with eggplant Broccoli and beef All the items that we ordered were very tasty and good. But portion sizes were not bountiful as most other Chinese restaurants. So you might have order another dish if you are sharing with a group. If you want fast service you will have to flag down the waiter and be ready to order. The restaurant has a hole in the wall feeling. But still clean and recently remodeled.

Fried Rice

I'm not a Szechuan eater, but willing to explore. I ordered a few of my Cantonese favorites and they didn't disappoint! Fried rice had good level of seasoning, slight wok hei (smoky wok) flavor. Ordered Kung pao chicken, mild as I don't like tons of heat, the dish had flavorful sauce, not greasy and tasty with rice. Could have used a few more peanuts. But not a big deal. String beans were fresh, crisp, large succulent pieces and tasty. Plenty of eggplant too. Overall we're very pleased with all dishes. Service was good, nothing extra, and nothing to complain about. Good food, clean place, remodeled interior, attentive service. Pleasant lunch, we will be back!

We went there on the weekend for dinner. It's a good idea to make a reservation because sometimes they get very busy. Also we have to call in a day before to reserve the whole chicken otherwise it may not be available. The steamed chicken is our favorite. It's very flavorful and the ginger sauce that comes with it is so tasty that we can just eat that with rice. Other dishes in general are good. Their food is really close to home cooking than restaurant style. It does not have strong flavor but mild enough that we all enjoy them. They don't have a lot of choices in the menu. I wish there are more seafood options.

Stir Fried Cabbage with Chinese Pepper Szechuan Beef and more!

We come here all the time! The service is amazing and the food is even better. I love the vibe of the whole place and I hope this helps anyone who's looking for some GREAT Asian food!!

Not sure why the ratings are so low, but as a Chinese person who has been here with Chinese friends, I can say this place is 1000% legit. The grilled whole fish with garlic is my go-to, but honestly, everything I've tried has been solid. If you're looking for real Chinese food, this is it -- skip the Chinese-American options.

We came for lunch and ordered the chao mian with chicken (spicy) and bian bian noodles (spicy). The noodles are cooked to order and we were served quickly. The serving sizes are huge. Neither one of us could finish ours. We'll likely order one dish to split next time, and that'd still probably be more than enough. The flavor of the chao mian was a bit lackluster. It was savory with a soy sauce flavor base, but got a bit repetitive with each bite. It was decently spicy and texture was there with the veggies, but I wish there was a way to customize with more spice or vinegar to taste. The bian bian noodles were more flavorful and also spicier. Fun noodle texture. There are also other vendors in the garden so you can pair a dessert, drink, or side with your meal while staying in the same area. Overall, a filling meal for a good price! Would come again to try their beef noodle soup.

The place was full of hungry locals and tourists but was uncustomarily quiet and calm. From the hostess that seated us, to the waitress and servers, all staff and management were extremely polite, positive and helpful. We were starving. So we ordered 3 entrees and side of Dry-fried String beans. The Green Beans were cooked perfectly and the serving size was generous! One of our new favorites is the Mongolian Chicken. Is not a spicy Chinese food dish but the moist chicken and seasonings produced a yummy & comfort food level dish! As usual, the lightly battered & deveined Butterfly prepared Salt & Pepper Shrimp was mouthwatering, with every bite. As the last entree to be served. The ten Chicken & Vegetable Dumplings were fresh and flavorful. Needless to say, with only 2 patrons eating lunch with 3 heaping entrees plus Dry-fried String beans and white rice - we took home 2 more meals worth of Chinese food leftovers. The service was kind of weird/awkward about IDing us for drinks. I assured her I was happy to grab my ID and she was kind of rude, alluding to the fact I look old and she doesn't need it haha. As our food started to come, our friend noticed a long black hair in the chicken dumplings. We notified our server and she investigated the dish on our table. This rubbed us all the wrong way because you should believe your customer and take the plate from the table and maybe exam it in the back/kitchen? We didn't like the hair deter us and everything was truly delicious. We had pork soup buns (good, but not very soup-y), pork wontons in chili oil (yum!), chicken potstickers (probably my favorite), spicy chow mein (delicious), the dry fried green beans (so good)! We were stuffed. I ended up telling the server that we wouldn't need the new chicken dumplings and she was very rude and taken back by that. I feel bad to inconvenience them, but none of it would've happened if there wasn't a hair in the food? There were other small, rude things our server did but ultimately, it didn't ruin our night or take away from the delicious food! I would recommend the restaurant with the warning that the service is lackluster.

We devoured everything and left no crumbs but the dishes I would likely gravitate back towards are the hand pulled noodles, wings, and actually the Mandoo! The hand pulled noodles were coated nicely with a spicy sauce and had a great chew to them. I loved the thickness of the noodles and added crunch from the cabbage and other veggies. Half sweet and half spicy for the wings was the way to go - each wing was doused in sauce and sesame seeds but still maintained its crunch. As someone that doesn't usually like wings, these were fantastic. Lastly, the Mandoo surprised me! It was the sauce that sealed the deal. It was like a thousand island, poppy seed kind of dressing that worked very well. I couldn't stop eating them. If you're looking for authentic Korean food, this is the place!
