We have eaten here two times since being in town. The Pizza is quite good. The staff was friendly and attentive. The staff did appear that they could use better hygiene as far as the appearance of a few staff members. It did give me a moment hesitation while noticing long greasy hair and no hair nets being used. They had difficulty splitting our ticket both times we asked for them to do it for us. Which is just a training issue I'm sure. Over all, great pizza, they had sports on the TV's good place to watch a game and eat pizza. Clean atmosphere. read more

Driving through and stopped for the lunch buffet. I wasn't sure what to expect from reading reviews but I'm giving this a 5 star visit. We were greeted immediately, paid, grabbed a salad, pizza, breadsticks, and a drink. The pizza was very good. Had a variety of great options and very fresh. Wow! This pizza place was soooo good! If we're ever in the area again (and we might be for Great Basin), we would definitely be coming here again. Being in Ely, we weren't really sure what to expect, and it's a pretty unassuming building. But the pizza was that good! Sauce was on the sweet side and flavorful. Arrived from out of town and tried Hometown Pizza for the first time. Ordered the large combo calzone & all you can eat salad bar. The salad bar was fresh & many ingredients to choose from. Dressings were delicious. Soup was yummy chicken noodle with big egg noodles & big chunks of chicken. The calzone was cooked to perfection & big enough to share. Clean restaurant. We arrived in Ely, NV mid evening thoroughly thrashed after canoeing seven days on the Green River. Too tired to "go out," we sent one in our party out to grab a pizza. Our expectations weren't high from "the only pizza parlor in Ely." But it was a perfect subtle array of spices, toppings, crisp outer crust and delightfully chewy moist inner crust. It could hold it's own with the better pizzas in competitive urban markets. It was close to closing time, and our person had a very nice, memorable conversation with the owner. We are annual visitors to Ely (ice fishing) and tried the pizza at this restaurant for the first time. Chicken wings were good but the pizza was dry and needed more tomato sauce. We ordered the Ely combo and the toppings would just fall off as we ate slices because there was not enough sauce or cheese to hold them on the slices. On a positive note, the restaurant was decently clean and the staff was friendly. Please up your game on the basics of pizza making and you'll get better ratings/business. read more

The food is pretty good here, We got pizza and breadsticks. Service was terrible!!! They messed up the pizza we ordered and when I asked about it the cashier looked at me like she had no idea what I was talking about, after she had confirmed the order with Us, and just plainly said "sorry". They forgot to bring us our breadsticks, and when I asked her she made sure to check my receipt (good thing I kept it). She brought them and when we asked for the other sauce we had ordered she looked at me like I was crazy and asked me what sauce I was talking about, even though she had just offered us both when we ordered!!! My wife and i were driving through and looking for a place to eat. We happened upon this pizza place. I was extremely surprised about he staff that was working at the time. They were two young people, a male no older than 22 and a female no older than 19. Wow, they kept the place running. The female was a cashier/ busser, the male was the cook. The restaurant was clean and the cook kept his area and himself clean. I was a kitchen manager before and i pay attention to those things. Every time i looked in the kitchen he was washing his hands. That is outstanding. The only suggestion i have is that you add more sauce to the calzones and a side of sauce. The salad bar was great. I hope you dont take this the wrong way, but the cleaniness, friendliness, and professionalism is not what i expect from a small town joint especially with a young staff. We were there eating 08-05-2019 between four and five pm. So the staff that was working there at that time are badass. Thanks again for the great meal. read more

Unfortunately this review is only for the customer service, as we never had the chance to eat any pizza. It's a couple of months overdue. We were visiting Great Basin National Park and Yelped best places to eat in Ely. This place popped right up for best pizza in town. The wife found a coupon that she purchased on Restaurants.com, so that was nice. However, after we placed our order they refused to take the coupon. I even showed them proof that we purchased it. They called the owner on the phone and he was just downright rude. It was like he was accusing of us of trying to scam him. No worries buddy, I will take my business and my money elsewhere. I found a great little Mexican restaurant down the street called La Fiesta. What a find! Great food and the nicest people, we even went back there a second night because of the great food and service. Thanks Hometown Pizza!
