This is a must stop when going through Baker. The friendly young woman working there is what drew us in to have a fresh brewed coffee and sit-a-spell. The coffee was excellent and you smell it coming through the door. They are stocked with local goods and small business products. It's hard to put into words in a random Yelp review why this place is so special. I can point out the really cool selection of goods and the quality of the coffee and even just how it's the only place in town that is anything and has anything. But that's not what makes it special. The moment you walk into this place you just feel it. I regret not getting the other staff names this year, but Liz and Rachel I do know. They're just... awesome. You feel at home immediately. It's not just a matter of good service, it's a place where you just want to be. You can get really cool stuff and all, but you can also just feel welcome in this cool tiny place way out in the high desert. It's like it's made for just you, whoever you are. And the book nook is icing on the cake. I'm not even writing this to review the store. I just want everyone to come here because it feels so awesome from the second you walk in. I came to camp on a whim and didn't shop ahead of time. Luckily, this spot exists. Of course it is the only spot in the middle of nowhere in a tourist destination, so the prices reflect that. For example, one apple is $2.50. However, they sell a lot of really cool locally made or smaller micro brand food and snack items. They have a great selection of trail snacks, groceries, souvenirs, and more. I'll be back before I leave for one of their candles. The service is friendly and excellent. While we were in Baker, Nevada for just 24 hours you must know that we went to this establishment approximately four times and we stayed at the motel. When in Baker we will be back. The friendly people that work there made us feel at home. We had coffee, we bought some wine, we enjoyed some dinner snacks and some teriyaki dried mushroom jerky. I can only review for the General Store because I could not get a room at the Inn (it was fully booked). I can say that the staff is excellent and makes you feel welcome. I am happy that they stock items one would not expect to find in a small town, especially specialty herbal drinks and kombucha. The coffee shop and the book shop are also nice. The staff is friendly and helpful, and not in the fake way you see at most restaurants, but almost in a neighborly way. The events they have are also nice and contribute to the atmosphere of the town. Overall, this place is a gem in this little town and has a great vibe. I hope to be able to get a room here next time I come to Great Basin National Park. read more

This was such a great treat after camping for almost a week in Utah. James helped us check in and was such a great person to talk to. You could tell he cares about his guests and his inn. He even showed us a map of Great Basin and showed us all the best spots. Five of us got the family suite which consisted of a queen bed, futon, and a private room with a twin. The room was spotless and had a retro feel to it. We were given complimentary protein bars, stickers, and postcards. The inn was so calm and quiet throughout the stay. The next day we walked over to the general store to get some great coffee drinks. Location is under 10 minutes away from the Great Basin visitor center. Pleasantly surprised by this little Inn. Was here the first week of December to hunt. I have AT&T cell phone service and had no problems with making calls, sending/receiving texts or with internet (could stream Netflix/Hulu). About 7 miles from reaching Baker, all of our cell phones switched from Pacific to Mountain standard time. I guess we're so close to the Utah border, it jumps a time zone which threw me off. The Inn's office had a Trader Joe's vibe. They have ice for sale outside of the office for $4/bag. You do need a face mask to enter the office. I saw rooms 1-4 were right next to the Inn but didn't see where rooms 5-7 were. Rooms 8-10 are about 1/5 mile down the road behind the 4 pump gas station. We had room 8, which in my opinion is the best one out of the 3. Rooms 9-10 have the beds situated where they share the same wall. The walls are pretty thin so I'm glad that rooms 9-8 have the kitchen/bathroom/closets sharing the same wall. There is a little building next to room 8 that has two bathrooms (with showers) on either side with a laundry room (one washer & dryer) in the middle. There are a handful of RV hookups alongside that building. The bathroom/shower costs 2 bucks to use- via the honor system. The laundry room is coin operated and is a dollar each to wash/dry. The room was waaaay cleaner than I imagined. The shower was clean but the shower head is situated pretty low for anyone 5'5"+. I wiped down all the high touch surfaces and to my surprise nothing was really dirty. I also wiped down the floors expecting to find dust bunnies under the bed, but that wasn't dirty either. The couple in room 9 who came in late the same day we arrived checked out the following morning and shortly after we saw the housekeeper arrive. She wore a mask and seemed thorough with her cleaning regimen which was about an hour. My kid and I were outside playing catch the entire time and talked to her a bit, which is why I know this. That explains why our room was so clean. Props to her. Pets are welcome but have a $20 one-time charge. The room has a wall unit a/c and heater, but there was also a portable heater in the closet. The temp got to below freezing on all the nights we stayed and we stayed warm. Inside of the closet were about 10 hangers, a hanging shelf organizer, along with a broom/dust pan. Plates, cups/mugs, and utensils were available along with silverware, kitchen towels, paper towels, a sponge, hand soap and dish soap. A microwave, toaster, coffee maker and coffee supplies appear to be standard for each room as well. All that was missing was a hair dryer. The water pressure was fine and the water temp gets hot quickly. The water did pool up a little in the shower. The WiFi didn't work at all for us, but the portable WiFi I brought for work purposes worked fine. read more

The Stargazer Inn was my favorite place we stayed along our roadtrip. The rooms were very clean & comfortable. The general store was well stocked & absolutely adorable. The staff and owners were so hospitable & welcoming, (even gave me batteries for my red light, after they already closed for the day) Everything detail here made for a wonderful stay. WOW ! I am almost speechless with joy finding this little gem. The vibe is EVERYTHING in a small coffee and healthy food joint and this place has it! I had low expectations for this inn. It's one of the only places to stay in Baker which is just minutes away from Great Basin National Park. We didn't want to drive an hour to the next town, so we booked two nights at this inn. We were in one of the rooms in the building behind the gas station. The walls are thin, but we didn't have any issues with noisy neighbors. The room was incredibly clean and had everything we needed. The only thing I didn't like was how loud the air conditioning unit was. We tried to get it to stay on all night so that we wouldn't hear it turn on and off all night, but it still kept turning off. There is a cute store that we picked up some snacks at which is the same place you check in at. The owner was really nice and accommodating. I needed ice for my foot and there wasn't an ice machine, but she gave me some from the store. The wifi did go out kind of frequently, but we were able to get it restarted and when it was working, the speed was faster than I thought it would be. I would happily stay here again. read more

The Stargazer is a very comfortable and interesting place to stay. Liz and James will take excellent care of you and they know the area extremely well. The prices for food and lodging are reasonable, especially because Baker is pretty far from everywhere. If you have the chance, stay in the newly installed cabins. These are bright, clean, well-equipped tiny homes. We had two rooms in the Inn in early January and they were warm with nice hot showers. Liz and James made extra efforts to be sure we enjoyed our stay. read more

Perfect spot to relax after a day at Great Basin National Park. We stayed in room #1 which had a full bed. The sheets and bed were perfect for two (plenty of pillows too). Multiple towels and shampoo and body wash provided. We appreciated the earth friendly products provided throughout the room - cups, coffee packs, shampoo. Our A/C was perfect for the weather. You can't control your room but it was a good temperature for us in June. Outside it was about 85 - 90 but we were fine with the inside temperature. There is also a fan you can use too. There's a coffee station, TV, desk and chair in the room. The WiFi is okay. You can search on social media but it takes a little longer to load. I wouldn't recommend doing anything urgent on the WiFi. They have a store in the office with anything you could need and lots of snacks, drinks & alcohol. It's about 10 minutes from the park entrance. LGBTQ friendly and definitely a safe spot to stay. Staff is super friendly. 10/10 recommend staying! read more

We stayed here for two nights recently and had a wonderful time. We chose Stargazer over other options due to proximity to Great Basin National Park - the road to the Lehman Caves Visitor Center is a block from the Inn, and although the other visitor center was closed for winter, it's also right down the road. We stayed in one of their rooms with a double bed, perfect for two. The room was stocked with everything we needed - electric kettle, mini-fridge, shampoo/conditioner/body wash. The owner Liz was great; she checked in with us before our stay to make sure we were prepared for the trip, gave us some great tips on what to do around the area, and answered any random questions we had. The store was well-stocked with snacks; we bought some particularly good vegan cheese/nut snack packs and trail bars for our hikes. One important note: Baker is very remote; when we stayed in the winter offseason, all of the restaurants in-town were closed. Liz made sure that we were prepared beforehand, but you may want to keep that in mind when planning a stay depending on when you go. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and were very impressed by the hospitality. We would happily come back next time we're visiting Great Basin. read more

My one kiddo declared it was the best "hotel" we'd ever stayed in bc it was so cozy, and the other parsed out part of her rock collection from our road trip to gift to the owners. There are also board games to borrow, which is always such a nice bonus. The owners also run a general store with food, drinks, beverages, gifts, and books, both fiction and non-fiction. Liz and Rachel are amazing! The store used to be a restaurant but changed hands about a year and a half ago. It has everything for the hiker or person just passing through healthy choice, fresh fruits and veggies. They make food there they have coffee and drinks you can buy beer and wine there. They have ice there there's a self-service bathrooms and self-service laundromat they have their own small hotel. The service is outstandingHighly recommend our group us up here camping for about 8 to 9 days and we've been coming here every day getting supplies. read more

This was truly a surprise, a real jewel in the middle of nowhere. Our room #4 had an extremely comfortable queen bed a couch. It has been remodeled and upgraded with a ductless AC and Heat. Super comfortable plenty of room very quiet. The owners are on site and are the friendliest and very informative and knowledgeable all about Great Basin NP area. They also own the General Store right next door. The store is well stocked. If they don't have it you don't need it. :) This is our third week on a road trip doing national parks and anything else we want to do. Highly recommend staying here if you can get in. We had a wonderful 5 day stay here while doing volunteer work in Lehman Caves at Great Basin National Park. The owners are wonderful people and wealth of local and park information. The store has quite the eclectic mix of foodstuffs, wines and beers, and local artwork. And, probably the best hotel coffee to be had anywhere. The rooms are simple and basic (no tv) but the wi-fi was excellent for all our social media and streaming needs. In the past we've stayed at their adjacent RV park just down the street, which is again, very similar; basic but everything works well (except poor to non-existent wi-fi at the rv park). We are already looking forward to a return trip. read more

I didn't come across too many places where we can stay in Baker, NV. Stargazer Inn was perfectly fine for two people though. We stayed in #9, which was not next to the office. It was across the street next to a gas station. The room was clean and basic. It didn't have a hair dryer, which is something I need. My main complaints are that the faucet dripped and the AC unit was really loud. I didn't sleep well, but it is what it is. The best thing about the place is that it's minutes from Great Basin National Park. read more

What: cute, clean little motel on the main thoroughfare. Very quiet with sweet owners. We had room #3 with two full beds and then a little room on the side with one twin bed, TV and refrigerator. I also enjoyed the EO products. The cooling system was a swamp cooler, but this was fine since they also provided a powerful fan. Pillows, linen and towels were all nice and cozy. Ambiance: quaint courtyard area with trees, flowers and tables and chairs. The owner has two hairless cats wondering around the grounds, Rosalita "Rosie" and Carlito, which my daughter adored. Cost: $90 for room #3, I felt was very reasonable. Location: conveniently located about 10 minutes from Lehman Caves. Stargazer Inn My husband and I enjoyed this quaint stop! We stayed at the inn and visited the general store for coffee and other needs. The staff is amazing and very personable. They even remembered our names and our sweet pups name as well! Awesome location to visiting the NP and a short walk to some local restaurants. Extremely comfy beds and natural soaps and lotions for personal use. We loved our visit from Chavito the stargazer inn greeter. He is the sweetest kitty ever.
