    Double Queen Room 111
    Jerry M.

This is a place I have stayed at several times over the last 8 years. The owners have kept up on this establishment quite well, even recently doing some office/breakfast area upgrades. If you like independent places, then you won't be dissatisfied by staying here. The rooms are well kept and beds are very comfortable. Linens and towels are nice and soft. Like everywhere these days, staffing is short so office is open from 7am to 10 pm. There is an after hours number for "emergency" use only. Don't leave your room key behind! Ample parking right out front, and all rooms are a very short walk from there. The pictures in my review are of Room 111, a double Queen room.

My dog was very comfy staying here. Nice and quiet after people got checked in and settled.

Dog friendly! Was looking for a dog friendly place for a quick getaway. While it appears there are several in the area I chose the Bristlecone because it has doors to the outside. A lot of people don't like bully breeds so I thought this would be easier and safer for my dog. The lady at the front was very friendly, the pet fee was only $15! The pet friendly room has tile floor and 2 queen beds, smelled very clean when we walked in. The room is large, the bathroom is a bit small but met our needs just fine. Cleanliness is my biggest pet peeve when staying in motels and this place, while not brand new was very clean. Gave it 4 stars because it's not brand new modern fancy but that's not what I was looking for. Great place to stay!

    Super friendly place

Wow, really loved it. Super clean room, really comfortable beds, receptionist unbelievable nice, sweet heart. We had amazing family suit for really good price. I think in our 10 years journey through National Parks it was the best room. Thank you!!!!!!!

    Nice play to stay.

I got a Dlx Dbl Rm 2 Queens for $104.08 x 2 nights + $28.09Tax = $236.15. Breakfast is not included. Our room was on the second floor. I don't think there is an elevator here. We used the stairs. Upon check-in, we were given 2 drink tickets good for 2 Well Drinks from the Prospector Lounge. The room was nice, nicer than I thought it was going to be! It was nice that there was a safe in the room as well as a microwave and a larger mini-fridge. In the room, we were given some candy and earplugs. We didn't need the earplugs. We didn't hear anything going on in the hallway during our stay. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well! We stayed here for two nights. If you desire to have some wine in your room, there are two bottle of Wolfgang Puck Wines for purchase. There's an on-site restaurant called Margaritas. It seemed like a cozy place to eat. We saw the steak and decided to give it a try, but we should have opted for a Mexican entrée instead. Maybe it would have been better. The Gambling Hall is the casino. It isn't in a room with a divider or barrier so the smoke is pretty prevalent. I truly felt like I was transported back to before the 1980's when smoking was allowed everywhere! I think smoking is not allowed in the Guest Rooms. I would not hesitate to book another room here again.

I was worried about noise since my room was on the first floor close to the slot machines, but I didn't hear much noise. The shower was wonderful pressure and it gets HOT. Fantastic post hike! This might be the only hotel at this tier that offers you a toothbrush and toothpaste (even though the brush was terrible, but it was something!) Note that there is a microwave and refrigerator for your convenience in your room. Also, there's a coffee machine to make tea. The Mexican restaurant was also very good at a decent price. I'm a seasoned traveler and I am happy I got to stay here and would stay here again if I ever come up this way.

It had a king in one room, a queen in the other, and a full pull-out couch in the common area. There was also a kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, sink, counter and cupboard space). The bathroom was roomy and had a spa tub with jets. We were in the "executive rooms" building across the parking lot from the main building (literally only a 30 foot walk). It is two story and did not have elevators. The couch bed, when folded out, partially blocked one bedroom door and made passing to the other side of it impossible without crawling over the bed, which was unfortunate. It was also a really low-quality, lumpy, springy mattress. But at least we had bed space for everyone. There is only one a/c unit (in the common area) , so to cool the bedrooms you have to keep the doors open. The jetted tub was a really nice surprise. The one jet behind the back was pretty weak, unfortunately, but the other four were good and strong and felt great. Breakfast was good: waffles, biscuits and gravy, cheese omelettes, a variety of cereal, toast, muffins, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt. The juice was really good: real, fresh orange juice instead of the usual watery stuff, and POG juice! There was also a great selection of 8 different teas, all good brands (no Lipton!) which I really enjoyed. The kids loved the pool, which is heated, and the hot tub. It is a chlorine pool. If you have to stay in Ely, this is the place to do it.

I`ve been traveling to Ely on and off for the last 20 years and have stayed here and there around town, but decided to try to save a few bucks and stay at Rustin Inn last time. I thought perhaps this was a diamond in the rough. Maybe I have high standards when it comes to a place being "clean". I don`t know. Let's just do a pros and cons list to make this easy. Pros: -Cheap. I paid $55 for a night -Location was on the main road, so it felt relatively safe -Hot shower -Nice owner -Parking right outside your room Cons: -When I arrived, no one was in the office, which is totally fine, but there was a note on the door that had guest names and the rooms they were staying in(directing them to the room number). I don`t love a note with the room I`m staying in to be available for anyone to view -There is a difference between rustic and dingy. I had room 14 and it was okay, definitely had seen better days. My issue was with the cleanliness. The sheets were formerly white but now were a tan color from wear. The pillows were flat and the actual pillows had stains on them. Pillow covers were the same worn color of the sheets. I slept in my hoodie because I didn`t want to lay on the pillows. Random hair(not mine) in the shower and a less than pristine toilet. I know, I know. This is a cheap motel. The front office looks so cute with the lights and homey feel. The motel has a lot of potential, but it needs repair, updated items, and a deep clean. I`ll pass on this place in the future. For $20 you can stay elsewhere that will be cleaner and more comfortable.

I have been traveling to Ely on and off for about 20 years, so I`ve stayed at a lot of the hotels around town, but decided to gamble on a motel in town for the first time. The price was right and who doesn't want to save a buck sometimes? I want to come back when this place is in better shape because there is a lot of potential, but yes, it does need work. Let's do two lists for my stay. Pros: Good location Quiet at night(other guests respected an unspoken quiet time after 9 p.m.) Internet is pretty good Streaming services are welcome Exterior is cute Owner Ian is communicative and friendly Best price in town during their revamp Hot water Felt relatively safe as a solo female traveler There was a friendly orange cat who hung out with me for a bit Cons(This is for room 5): The walls are a mess and need repair(holes everywhere) Carpet gave me the ick Lack of outlets Bathroom is in need of...a lot(including better cleaning) Shower handles fell off when I would turn (lol) Curtain rod fell down when I closed the curtain (lol again...) Need more of a lock on the door (keypad and chain lock is OK) Towards the back of the room there is a noticeable dip in the floor I really want to come back and stay in a refurbished room sometime. Some recommendations to the owner( that they didn`t ask for): Gut the carpets and replace with floors, add better top door locks, designate a smoking area so guests who smoke can go there(I am not a smoker and there was a guy who was constantly smoking outside of my room), add short curtains to cover any light that comes through the blinds, hair dryers(even small, cheap ones) would be good. Look, I get it, this is an old motel with decades of repair and grime that is being cleaned up. This is a place that is totally fine for others as is and it was a good price. I can see the direction the owners are going in and the retro vibe they want to achieve, but try to stay in a refurbished room if you are picky about what I have mentioned.

Ely is kind of a town that time forgot and I was a little nervous and dismayed when I pulled into this place off the main drag. The outside facade leaves a lot to be desired, but this place is the pillar of the old adage "don't judge a book by its cover"! Though, some of the other guests staying at the hotel were a bit suspect. After a weird interaction w/the front desk clerk (who I could not get to understand that I had already paid for my room through my Orbitz reservation) where I had to call my credit card company to tell her the charge for the room had already been made and who seemed a bit out of it, I finally made it up to my room. Thankfully, I was on the 2nd flr and had no one staying on either side of me, so I had a very quiet experience. Also, parking seemed limited, but there did not appear to be a lot of other guests there when I was, so I never had a problem finding a space, especially right in front of my room. To my very pleasant surprise, the room was spacious, well appointed, clean, had great water pressure in the shower, a big tv, micro and fridge...and the best part (I rarely say this about a hotel) was the bed!
