Walking in to this hotel is kind of like stepping back in time! The lobby is filled with odds & ends of antiques, cowboy decorations, & portraits of Marilyn Monroe. This hotel and gambling hall is located off E. Aultman St. which is also Great Basin Hwy. Out front are a few big sculptures. Parking is free here. I booked the room using Spark.com website. I got a Dlx Dbl Rm 2 Queens for $104.08 x 2 nights + $28.09Tax = $236.15. Breakfast is not included. Our room was on the second floor. I don't think there is an elevator here. We used the stairs. Upon check-in, we were given 2 drink tickets good for 2 Well Drinks from the Prospector Lounge. The room was nice, nicer than I thought it was going to be! It was nice that there was a safe in the room as well as a microwave and a larger mini-fridge. In the room, we were given some candy and earplugs. We didn't need the earplugs. We didn't hear anything going on in the hallway during our stay. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well! We stayed here for two nights. If you desire to have some wine in your room, there are two bottle of Wolfgang Puck Wines for purchase. There's an on-site restaurant called Margaritas. It seemed like a cozy place to eat. We saw the steak and decided to give it a try, but we should have opted for a Mexican entrée instead. Maybe it would have been better. The Gambling Hall is the casino. It isn't in a room with a divider or barrier so the smoke is pretty prevalent. I truly felt like I was transported back to before the 1980's when smoking was allowed everywhere! I think smoking is not allowed in the Guest Rooms. I would not hesitate to book another room here again. read more

The hotel didn't seem like much, but I was genuinely impressed for the value. The rooms were exceptionally clean and the beds were comfortable. I was worried about noise since my room was on the first floor close to the slot machines, but I didn't hear much noise. The shower was wonderful pressure and it gets HOT. Fantastic post hike! This might be the only hotel at this tier that offers you a toothbrush and toothpaste (even though the brush was terrible, but it was something!) Note that there is a microwave and refrigerator for your convenience in your room. Also, there's a coffee machine to make tea. The Mexican restaurant was also very good at a decent price. I'm a seasoned traveler and I am happy I got to stay here and would stay here again if I ever come up this way. read more

Passing thru, I had made reservations directly with the hotel two weeks ahead of time. Upon arriving, I was greeted by a friendly woman & we were provided the room that I requested for a reasonable price, in comparison to the chain hotels. Having read the reviews, I am happy with the very clean room which includes a safe, microwave, refrigerator, a table with two chairs should you want to bring food up, & a great desk for working. Several considerate additions that are rarely seen, if ever...we received two drink tickets for a complimentary drink at the casino, a toothbrush & toothpaste, several lollipops, earplugs & something that I've never seen, two bottles of wine with two wine glasses, $25/bottle which is a bit pricey but just the fact that they have it available & the convenience should you want it, 5*! The rooms are very quiet but people in the hall can get a little loud. We were on a 14 night road trip & we both agreed that this was the best room, including several higher priced, boring chain hotels & by far the BEST night's sleep, the bed & pillows were so comfy! There is no elevator but the stairs are broken up into two sets of 8 so it's not so hard should you want a 2nd floor room, we're in our early 70s. We ate at the Margarita's restaurant on site which serves Mexican & American food, reasonably priced, good service and food! I played in the casino for a bit, came away with an extra $30 & one gentleman won $1400 at one of the slot machines, so their machines do pay, there are no gaming tables. All in all, we would come back if we're ever passing thru again. read more

Absolutely fantastic!!! The rooms were so incredibly comfortable! Clean and cozy! Could NOT tell there was a smoking casino in the building! PLUS they give you each a free drink ticket. We will never stay anywhere else when we come to Ely! I really can't say enough good things! The pink trees lit up at night is really pretty. There's tons of things to look at everywhere there! I always stay here once a year when traveling home to phoenix. I've never had an issue. Friday evening earlier this week I stayed one night and I could hear nothing all night long but noise and people upstairs walking and pounding and I slept maybe two hours with an 8 hour drive ahead of me !!! Almost fell asleep at the wheel !!! On my way back home to phoenix !!!! when I called and let the front desk manager know, she was very short with me and very rude and she said I should've come and complained that night and they would've taken care of it and went and confronted the people and I explained that I don't like to get people in trouble or have Anyone know that I'm calling in fear of getting myself retaliated against , yes maybe I watch too many murder shows , and she said I shouldn't have that fear and that could never happen !! I said well I know you probably don't think I should have that fear, but that is a fear of mine !! and that is why I didn't call and complain against the people that night ! I had to leave fast and left key in room. She said I should have spoke to front desk that morning !! she continued to tell me that she probably can't guarantee me getting half my money back and I paid almost $300 for this room to get two hours of sleep , I've never paid that much , not ever at this hotel ! anyway I would not recommend this place and the manager lady was extremely rude and I don't think I'll be staying there anymore when I travel through on my way Home. I just will probably stay at other places due to this incident and then not working with me at all being I am a regular, just not good customer service whatsoever. read more

Wow! I was very impressed with this hotel! It's a fun place to visit, whether you are a human or a dog. Yes! I said that right! They have a whole section dedicated to dogs! It's tough to find good places that will allow you to bring your dog or dogs, but this place was very accommodating. I especially liked that they had tile floors in case of any accidents. There were also lots of nice little touches. There was a doggie bed, doggie biscuits upon arrival, a dedicated area to take your dogs to relieve themselves, and plenty of doggie decor. My two dogs and I had a great time. There were even ear plugs provided in case things got too wild, but I didn't hear any barking the entire night. Overall, it was a great experience. I should also mention that they had a very nice pool and spa, a little fitness room, a beautiful giftshop, and I enjoyed a nice steak dinner at their Mexican resturant. Next time I'm passing through Ely, this will be my "go to" place to spend the night! read more

This is the best place to stay if you are traveling with animals. The rooms are extremely Clean and comfortable and comes with treats for the fur babies! I was at a Residence inn the night before... so it's on par with that. The reservations wouldn't take online and they wouldn't match the online offer. The front desk staff was friendly... The restaurant, Margaritas wouldn't sit me. She sat three tables of two before solo me... Claiming there was no room. She probably would have kept ignoring me if I hadn't asked if I should leave. A lovely welcome upon arriving. Room check in at 3pm. We were early so no problem on 10/ 12/ 25. Inquired at 2:50. Not ready. 3:30 inquired again. Still no room as I watched others being checked in. At 4:00 Dan was insistent that check in time WAS NOT guaranteed. Room still not ready due to short staff. I was then offered a pet room or I COULD LEAVE NOW WITH A REFUND. I wanted to ask my husband but was told I was being ASKED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY. Spouse was told I was yelling at him. Not true at all. Yes certainly not happy with the delay of a reservation made months ago but DAN was a real slob with no customer service skills. Having a lovely time ar the BEST WESTERN next door. Honestly, we didn't expect much from this place. It was just a stop along our way to Yellowstone. However, upon our arrival, we were greeted with fantastic staff. They were friendly, funny and very personable. The hotel has an authentic old west feel and atmosphere. We were approached several times by the staff while in the casino, just to see if we needed anything, make small talk, or offer interesting facts about the hotel or local area. The casino is kind of small, but clean and well organized. The restaurant in the hotel was pretty good, nothing fancy but great staff, service and flavorful food. Even though this spot was just a stop of convenience for us, we really enjoyed our stay and will most likely come back in the future just because of the way we were treated. read more

I was looking for a place to stay in Ely, and after digging through the internet, I found what I was searching for. I struck gold at the Prospector! Reasonably priced, and the staff is super friendly. My room was quite eclectic. It was decked out with all kinds of unassociated items. In fact, the whole place was. Walking into the lobby was like being in an episode of American Pickers, sans Mike and Frank. At least it was clean junk. Upon checking in, I was given 2 free drink coupons, which I made good use of, and a coupon for a "special " handmade item from the Indian gift shop....which was a come on, so that piece of paper found its way into the trash. The casino had quite a few slots, no table games, but it did have a sportsbook, machine. Yes, you can bet on sports using a machine. I made good use of that too. In fact, great use. Thank you Phoenix Suns, and Atlanta Hawks! There's a Mexican restaurant inside called Margaritas. It touts itself as authentic Mexican food. Authentic Mexican/American food is closer to what it was. Kind of bland, but it wasn't bad, and it fills you up. I was waiting to be seated for quite some time. They were aware of me standing there, but didn't bother to acknowledge my presence. Fortunately I was bailed out by a call from my daughter. Of course I took the call. When I returned, I was immediately seated. I think they thought that I was mad at them. I let them think what they wanted. After that, service was outstanding. Quick Tip: The slots are tighter than tight. Play the sports betting machine. Just drove in looked for a decent place to eat. Prospect hotel & casino looked good they had a friendly staff. I order the enchilada chili relleno combo. It looked good what could go wrong. The rice was watered down the chicken enchilada had no flavor it tasted like the chicken swam in their pool (watered down). Last but not least who would ever of thought mixing ketchup with salsa would make a great chip dip. read more

We stopped on our road trip for the night around 1am and this hotel looked to be an interesting one to stop at. We were right. What a cool place! There are so many things to look at. All the halls have the neatest decor. They love animals here too! Rooms were very clean. They provide anything you could need, toothbrush, toothpaste, coffee, candy and earplugs (it was not loud at all as the casino is in a connecting building) with a welcome letter, and even a rubber ducky in the bathroom! They also have a little cafe to get coffee and pastries and a Mexican restaurant inside. This place we will not forget! Would definitely come back if we ever drive through town again! I first came to Ely in 2020 during the pandemic. But now it's the endemic! My first visit to Ely, I stayed at this hotel since the pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic I went to the Ely Renaissance Village. I love riding those trains out at the Nevada Northern Railway Museum. Safety first by first stay at that hotel we had to wear masks when we went out. We had to maintain social distance at approximately 6 feet or 2 m apart but this hotel has it all it has an indoor pool with disco lights. They had a Mexican restaurant in the hotel. It was margaritas, I came back ever since didn't come back in 2023. I came back in 2021 and in 2022. The Ely Hotel is the prospector. My mom and I stay at this hotel when we visit Ely. We came in March of this year. It was pretty cold out. I highly recommend Ely Nevada for those who are visiting in the white Pine county. Ely is the county seat of white Pine County. Relax! It is only four hours until Vegas. You know in Ely it is 30° cooler than Vegas is. I highly recommend visiting during the summer to escape the Vegas heat. This is a really old-school hotel. They have the finest antiques in the hotel. if you can think of it, they probably have it.Ely also has the Ward charcoal oven. It is also the gateway to great basin national Park. You will love coming up to Ely during the summertime. To beat the Vegas heat! read more

2 words - frickin awesome! They're a little on the high end for the wallet, but it is worth every penny! Free drink voucher, free arrowhead, free water, all on check in. Room has wine stocked in it. Clean as a whistle, also has indoor pool and hot tub, which was very very hot. The interior and exterior is furnished amazingly, you can roam the place inch by inch and there's something cool to see everywhere. Service was awesome, and overall just the nicest place in Ely. NOTE: Just happened to show up the night it was being sold and new owners transitioned into place. Swapping out cash registers and gambling machine tills and the like. Interesting to watch, like an elaborate dance. New ownership is the parent company of the Golden Nugget. Front desk did not know of any upcoming changes. Taking off one star for uncertainty of new ownership, otherwise quite a good stay. My review is not much different from what everyone else says, except the front desk was a lot more courteous to me than others have described. We had special needs and no problem getting them taken care of quickly and correctly. They really knocked it out of the park. Room very comfortable, spacious and tasteful. Small safe for valuables, Keurig, comfy bed. No complaints. Common areas are an explosion of Extreme SouthWest Tacky. Yee haw boy howdy. Room areas are well sequestered. Even though there is smoking in the small casino and adjacent common areas, you stay in the room section you'll be fine. Use end doors to avoid any smoke. I also suspect they have very good ventilation in common areas. I walked directly past the casino multiple times. Could smell it a bit but I'm very sensitive to cigarette smoke and didn't feel a thing. Did not try the food. Good luck. read more

Dear Prospectorhotel.us of Ely, In April ona trip to Henderson, I asked your employees to honor their advertised price. They refused to and required me to make a reservation online, using my MobilePhone app to secure that rate, even as I was standing at their check-in counter. I complied, and being very tired I screwed it up and made the reservation for the next evening. Thankfully, I used my credit card in the app. Once I realized my mistake, I asked them just to fix it. The counter person very crispy, replied, they could do nothing. I could, I immediately, left them Politely, sat in the parking lot and filed a fraud complaint against them via my credit card. I just got my money back. I hope this is a lesson to businesses to treat their person to person customers better as this basically just cost them whatever fee those ridiculous apps charge. treat your customers better, you blew it. By the way, the Motel6 around the corner was super polite, 1/2 the price and one of the best rooms I saw on this trip. I know! read more

Gayle and I stopped into the bar a few days ago, on the strength of a drink coupon that we received upon check-in at the Holiday Inn Express next door. We also received a pink slip for a free gift at the Ms. Squaw shop off the Lobby. We skipped that opportunity as we found the name of the store a bit pejorative, plus we really didn't need anymore southwestern-themed stuff. Once inside, we were seated along the wall, but in front of a bank of 3 TVs, showing a movie, college baseball, and a Canadiens/Leafs NHL game. Staff masking was good, but the rest of the bar and casino floor areas within our line of sight was sparse at best. Then there was that stale smell of cigarette smoke, an inside odor that I thought was long banned. That and watching a few "down on their luck" looking gambling patrons, pretty much sapped our desire to try out the many cool looking touch screen (no more handles) slot machines. I ordered what I think was a local draft beer, as the wait person was struggling with basic terminology. It turned out to be quite good and was probably a lager. Gayle went for her go-to choice: Bombay Sapphire martini, which was also good, albeit a bit small. Despite the above mentioned observations, we had a nice time hanging out. Our staff person was friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the floor manager stopping by to see how we were doing. And it's always nice to have a hotel bar within walking distance. read more

We usually stay at particular chain hotels so we can get points but decided to try this facility. It is great! We travel with our small dog. We were assigned a dog friendly room and it was adorable. Dog bed, dog dish, treats, poop bags, and all the decor was geared towards pets. First time we have ever encountered that and it was really nice. Our room was very clean. The staff was very friendly. The only thing I learned is next time we stay there I will request a room that does not have an adjoining door to the next room. The walls are pretty thin and I could hear every word being said and every word coming out of the television. They do give you complementary earplugs so I guess they know that is an issue but again, This was the best place we stayed on our entire three week trip. read more

I kid you not. Friendly EASY reservations, kind staff, very accommodating for pets!! Free drink vouchers, excellent bartender, HUGE delicious food portions! Our pets were greeted with dog bones, fresh water bowl in the rooms, tie downs next to the beds & dog beds. The dogs were even able to join us in the casino. Authentic native gift shop (I'm native) I found a beautiful silver hair piece. There is a brand new hotel next door that we have stayed at and I would pass that new hotel up every time to stay at this prospector hotel, seriously. This place is awesome and a VERY pleasant surprise! My wife and I were traveling through on our way home and needed a place to stay. She had been here before and said the rooms were very clean, so...that's all I expected. This is so much more! There is a lounge, small casino (machines only) and Mexican restaurant, all on the property. The lounge and restaurant were both outstanding! The room was great and the whole facility was very clean and well kept. It's hard to describe the ambiance, but it seemed to have a sort of 'western museum' type of theme throughout the building. I felt like I was looking at someone's private collection and there was a lot to look at. On top of all of that, the staff were all friendly and helpful. We're through this area a few times a year and I suspect this will be a destination location. read more

This is my second stay. They have found a great nitch market. Legit pet friendly place to stay. $10 pet fee (our other stop was $5, but honestly for what this place does for pets, I think it's fine) treats and bags and a dog bed in the room for our dog. My first stay was through AbNb, this time I called them directly and booked. With all that is going on, any help you can give a business as awesome as this,but is a good thing (same price as through AbNb, just helps them avoid the fees associated with booking through it) They have a frequent stay card. The VIP room club, stay 4 nights, get 5th free. You get a drink coupon for a bar drink (unfortunately didn't use this time, like last time since my gallbladder needs out thanks 2020) The ladies at the front desk have been awesome both stays. Really love the lack of carpet in our pet room. Refrigerator to keep cold beverage in OR leftovers from the on site restraunt. Which is another highlight. Seriously though, the fish tacos are delicious and the breakfast burritos are huge and delicious. I ate half four breakfast, wrapped the other half up in the provided tinfoil and it was delicious hours later, into our drive on US93. My daughter loved her chicken strip meal as well. Also get coffee from the restraunt, way better than the room option. I know there are cheaper stays in the area, however the beds both stays were soooo flipping comfortable, the employees working ars genuinely nice and the way they treat pets...earns my business. read more
