Great location in Ely near many restaurants in the downtown area. Perfect place to stay in order to visit numerous parks. We really enjoyed the great basin national Park. Cave Lake State Park and we got to see the ward charcoal ovens state historical park! All are within an hour driving distance to this hotel. The breakfast was very good. The dining area was large and comfortable! Our room however, felt off. It was not very clean. The bed was good, but we did not sleep very well. while eating breakfast, We had a beautiful view and we did see a mule deer right there off the breakfast patio! so that was exciting. Coffee was pretty good with different flavored creamers and the breakfast was better than most La Quintas hotels that we have stayed in. read more

Staff told us they didnt have any double queen rooms. So i went outside and booked one online. They put us on the 2nd floor in the "executive suites" across the parking lot but failed to mention there is no elevator. After hauling all our stuff up the stairs, the rooms were clean enough but the beds were rough. They felt worn out and cheap. Probably wont stay here again. read more

Shit coveted walls, individuals urinating outside of my car. Gross. I would not recommend, the VIP spa down the road is a safer bet.

First off very unfriendly and rude front desk person. I was looking for a place to eat and she couldn't be less helpful. Again in my room, the bath mat was filthy. The wallpaper was being held up by push pins, and the front door would not lock from the inside. I called same front desk person, and she couldn't have cared less, never sent anybody to look at my door. She said, I guess I can call somebody in and then.Never did.. Unsettling to stay in a hotel where you can't lock the door. Then, to top it off, when I went to take a shower there was no hot water.. At that point I just gave up. I don't advise staying here.I stayed here years ago and it was a great stay. But this was much different.. It also was almost two hundred dollars a night with the tax.. They wrote me and asked my opinions, and I answered and told them all the issues, and they thanked me for my feedback.. read more

Probably the nicest hotel in Ely (although the bar is really low). They are very clean and look recently renovated. We were on the two bedroom suite for our family of 6. It had a king in one room, a queen in the other, and a full pull-out couch in the common area. There was also a kitchenette (mini fridge, microwave, sink, counter and cupboard space). The bathroom was roomy and had a spa tub with jets. We were in the "executive rooms" building across the parking lot from the main building (literally only a 30 foot walk). It is two story and did not have elevators. The couch bed, when folded out, partially blocked one bedroom door and made passing to the other side of it impossible without crawling over the bed, which was unfortunate. It was also a really low-quality, lumpy, springy mattress. But at least we had bed space for everyone. There is only one a/c unit (in the common area) , so to cool the bedrooms you have to keep the doors open. The jetted tub was a really nice surprise. The one jet behind the back was pretty weak, unfortunately, but the other four were good and strong and felt great. Breakfast was good: waffles, biscuits and gravy, cheese omelettes, a variety of cereal, toast, muffins, fruit, oatmeal, yogurt. The juice was really good: real, fresh orange juice instead of the usual watery stuff, and POG juice! There was also a great selection of 8 different teas, all good brands (no Lipton!) which I really enjoyed. The kids loved the pool, which is heated, and the hot tub. It is a chlorine pool. If you have to stay in Ely, this is the place to do it. read more

I usually love me some La Quinta! It's my go to motel. Usually they are very modernly decorated, they serve breakfast, they accept pets, their properties are kept up well, so for me it's usually a safe bet. I didn't live this one. I think it's the worst one I've ever been in but... I've never had a really bad experience even with this property I didn't I mean I gave it a three it's not terrible. It's just not what I expect from a La Quinta. The staff was incredibly friendly . My room even was for the most part pristine. And you know I always get "that"room when I go somewhere. This was not it. The room smelled so good when I open the door and everything looked great and amazing in terms of cleanliness however, there was a multiple and a mini green M&M on the carpet which I'm not sure how they missed those, but everything else was ship shape. The room, however, was really shabby every single piece of wall paper was peeling off the wall. The curtains were crunchy from sun damage. The furniture was in good shape some stains on lampshades, but people aren't going to take care of a hotel room like they were their own house so things like that don't bother me too much unless it's very noticeable. There was a lightbulb out on one of the tables. The bathroom had good water, pressure and nice hot water. The lighting in the bathroom, though it kind of is dim and then eventually it gets brighter which is a nice feature, but it doesn't get really good enough to do make up on so if you're gonna try to do your make up, that's not the motel to do it in. I had read someone else's review talking about the sheets. I almost brought my own sheets, and I wish I had because that person was dead on the sheets have a texture to them and they are kind of pilling a bit so they were very uncomfortable to sleep in . There is also a chair and ottoman that have seen much better days. The arms and edges on the ottoman are very soiled. Kinda gross. The hotel has nice public areas. It's got a little snack kiosk there's a huge public area. There's some seating outside overlooking the scenery so it's a nice property, but it definitely needs a lot of updating and maybe a little bit of TLC to get it up to par. The walls are also made of tissue paper . This was one of the loudest hotels I've ever been in. I could hear everything everyone was doing. I didn't even have an adjoining room, but the guy next-door to me snored so loud it kept me up most of the night.. you can hear everything everyone is doing. read more

Pros: good location. Good indoor heated pool/hot tub. Bkfst decent ( good waffles). Cons: extraordinary loud a/c unit, no ceiling fans, sheets are pilled and thin, front desk staff ( tastes and goth gal) rude and unhelpful. Lights out in bathroom/hallway of room. Asked 3x to be fixed to no avail. Told will 'eventually' be doing makeover, so mgmt not allowing bulb replacement (?). No extra blankets in closet. They want you to pre-check in; then make you do it all again. And you must have ID with address, saying that it's a corporate requirement. BS! Have stayed at a different LQ property a couple days ago and my military ID was just fine. Also, the person left the desk to check on a key. For like 7 minutes. Upon return, just gave me attitude. Asked for ground floor. Was denied, apparently those are for guests with pets. Where is that stated? The room is acceptable. The cx is horrible. We will pick differently if we ever return to Ely. read more

La Quinta in ely is a good spot at the end of the loneliest road to stay. Room a bit outdated, some old furniture, flat pillows with multiple hairs and the bed seemed to curve upwards in some area. Bathrooms were clean though I prefer a shower over a tub with a curtain. You can't beat free breakfast! Overall 3.5 stars. read more

What should have been a short stay turned into being extended, twice. The folks made to extensions seamless and very easy. Even at 04:00am when I went to the front counted. My day started early. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. I was gone so early each morning I missed the breakfast, but the staff was aware that several guests were out early so they had fresh coffee, pastries and bagels waiting for us. This is one of the best La Quinta's I have ever stayed at. read more

Upon check in, the front desk employee, Tayah was rude and unprofessional. She stated that the room was not ready and was going to be late. I asked if there's any compensation for the tardiness and she stated no, but with such a condescending tone. She was not sympathetic or showed any interest in assisting with the matter. She appeared defiant in her body language and her words were said in a harsh tone. I do not recommend this hotel based off of Tayah's rudeness. read more

No staff - long line to check in - no power to room - no maintenance staff - one was over an hour away - wouldn't change room because I booked through a third party (Expedia) - front desk clerk managed to get power to bathroom - we opted to stay as it was 8:45 and we were tired - better than waiting over an hour for maintenance and then if they couldn't fix they would still have to call the owner to change our room - I would deem a room without power uninhabitable to a guest no matter how they booked the room read more

Wyndham hotels have always held a special place in my heart because I have known the brand to be reliable and quality in what they offer. We needed a midway point from Vegas to Boise and Ely was a place on the map that seemed like a popular stopover area. Especially for folks headed to Great Basin, I can see why this is a good spot to stop. I would imagine this place is a stop overnight type of place or it's where you stay if you're visiting Great Basin for multiple days. The La Quinta hotel was not the cheapest offering in the town, we definitely had other options that were more affordable, but we chose La Quinta as a trusted hotel that is clean, offers breakfast, bonus points that there's an indoor pool! The weather here in late March is still quite chilly, it snowed as we arrived into town, so having an indoor pool made it so easy not to have to leave the hotel! The breakfast was decent, most La Quinta hotels have a waffle maker and this one didn't disappoint, there's also two hot breakfast items and choices of cereal and pastries. Also there is a little grocery store next to his hotel as well as Family Dollar across the street. The rooms here come with a microwave and a fridge, you'll be set if you plan ahead to bring microwaveable meals as I'm not sure how expensive the grocery story next door is since there's not much competition on pricing. We brought our own items and didn't need to leave for dinner. The overall surrounding areas of his hotel is a small town vibe and it's nice to stop and look around when able. Definitely recommend La Quinta and overall staying in Ely as a wonderful place to stop over on your road trip needs. Come prepared but if you need some necessities they will have it! read more

We had a King room. The room was spacious, but is showing some age (wallpaper lifting). First thing we noticed upon entering the room was that the lighting was VERY dim. We turned on the first light upon entering, but had to turn on ALL the lights as well as open the drapes to have it lit to our liking. The bathroom also had dim lighting. Perhaps it's an energy saving feature, but we would've preferred brighter lights. Room includes mini fridge, microwave, and chair with ottoman. I wanted to sit in the chair and kick up my feet, but the chair has seen better days and is dirty. The bed was pretty hard also Bathroom floor tiles had several chips and cracks. Fitness center was not very well equipped. Treadmill was broken, and free weights were only available in 1, 3, and 5 lb sizes. Sadly, the treadmill and free weights were exactly what I wanted to use. The pool and hot tub were excellent! The dining area was very nice and complimentary breakfast was very good and had great selections. Hotel is next to a grocery store and coffee shop. There are a few restaurants close by as well. read more

The staff was rude and unapologetic about the room not being ready. We were early by two hours and tried to check-in and totally understood the room was not ready. Would not recommend this place, disappointing service for a nice looking place. read more

I stayed here twice once going up to Washington and then when I headed back. I always tend to stay at La Quinta Inns because I have my dog with me. I usually request an easy room to get the dog in and out and they accommodate. Initially, it seemed like there was not a great place to walk your dog because most of the building is surrounded by fairly large rocks but I did find a dirt path in the back which was nice. The hotel is next to a grocery store and a couple of fast food options so that is also convenient. The rooms were decent sized and clean. read more

Nice clean hotel next door to a grocery store so you can eat sensible meals at a reasonable price. The staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful. The front desk lady, Pam, treated us very well and made sure we had utensils and everything we needed to enjoy a healthy meal from the market. Pam is one of those soft spoken, sweet people who make the stay memorable. This hotel has a really nice dining area and free breakfast. We stayed in the ADA room. Clean, strong wifi, good breakfast, good staff, one of the better if not best hotels in the area for sure (and priced that way)

Breakfast was lousy, loaded with high calorie options and almost nothing healthy. The big feature was a gross million calorie biscuits and gravy - huge presentation plate of biscuits with huge hot bin of gravy. I was on crutches and requested a late checkout - 30 minutes extra. The front desk person said OK, then didn't tell housekeeping and didn't keep my door card active! I had to hobble down the elevator and get it re-opened. The front desk bimbo, her name is Lilly, said "we don't control that". Completely uncaring and inconsiderate. And all this for $185 in Ely Nevada!! Most expensive motel in town, with the worst service. I should have stayed in some $110/nite place where at least they will be honest with you. Room was OK, clean and fairly new, so two stars instead of one. read more

My husband and I spent two nights at La Quinta as we took the long way from Reno to Las Vegas. We were very happy with our choice. The hotel is well managed and well maintained. The rooms had everything we needed. The complimentary breakfast offered everything from fruit to muffins to waffles to eggs and sausage. It was quite a spread! The tables were cleaned immediately upon a guest's leaving and spills on the serving line were wiped up just as quick. The location is also convenient, with a grocery store and coffee shop just steps away. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Ely. It will be our choice again the next time we are in the area. read more

What a joke !!!! This place needs a face lift !!! The wall paper was peeling off the wall ! The bathtub was rust . The door needs to be reframed !!!! When we checked in the lady at the desk ( the older one ) was not self indulging. And the younger one has noooo personality whatsoever!! Not sure if she's on something . I was walking by the front desk and the lady behind the desk was so rude to a customer who was trying to see if her room was ready ( it was after 3pm ) and the lady said ( I'm not sure where your reservation is so you will have to wait ) wow that's horrible customer service ! But to top it off is when at 8:30 am in the morning somebody literally tapped as loud as they can yelling housekeeping ! I was asleep and went to the door and looked through the peep hole and there was a young man in a sweat jacket with a hoodie on yelling housekeeping. First of all, I don't know who the hell you are second of all it's 8:30 in the morning and third of all when does housekeeping come and bang on your door three different times when checkout is at 11 AM. That's messed up what happened to the little door knob things that you could put on the door knob that says do not disturb yeah they didn't have those. read more

My brother and I are on a roadtrip across America. We were passing through the area and picked this hotel to stay overnight. In the morning, he always gets up early for the breakfast and then for a trip to a local coffee shop. He comes back in the room, raving about the breakfast. I went to the breakfast and it was a nice hot breakfast with waffles and the whole line of items that were so delicious! The eggs were nice and fluffy and the sausage not burnt. There was apple juice, orange guava juice (my personal favorite!), cranberry juice and plain orange juice. An epic morning feast! The staff is so friendly and the young lady in the breakfast area is bright and cheerful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The front desk people were so friendly and helpful when we were looking for a nice meal after our long day of travel last night. If I could rate this hotel, I'd give it 150% out of 100! I will definitely stay here when passing through the area again. read more

This is a nice hotel. Clean and comfortable. They do need to do some upgrades. Wall paper is separated in spots.

Stayed here overnight on my drive from OC to Boise. I reserved the room on hotels.com and had no issues checking in. I had a 2 queen room which was clean, no issues with heating or TV. There was also plenty of parking. There is a grocery store steps away. There is also a McDonald's and Carl's Jr. In walking distance. We ended up ordering pizza and having it delivered to the hotel. The "Instant Hold a Room Now" button on the Yelp page is a really handy feature when traveling. When we arrived, they had our room held for us which was lucky as they were quite busy. Overall. The experience was very good and what I have come to expect from La Quinta. Our room was large and comfortable. Everything was clean and and staff were friendly and helpful. This particular hotel is very convenient. It is on the highway to Great Basin National Park, next door to a super market, and close to the restaurants in Ely. Some are even within walking distance. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. I love having the fridge for chilling my wine and an in-room coffee maker. By far one of my worse hotel experiences! I had a late check in after driving 12 hours, so I was in about 1 AM. 5:30 AM the diving door was being played with and banging in it. After calling down a couple times nothing still done. I was hoping to get some good sleep and paying $179 for a crappy not updated room with 4 squares of toilet paper on each roll and hair on the pillow. Keep in mind I am bald. I would highly not recommend this place. Giving me a 15 percent off isn't anything. I should have slept in my car. read more

If I could rate a 0 out of 5 experience I would. The absolute worst experience ever with a hotel. At over $150 (king), this hotel is very over priced for the accommodations offered in my opinion. I'm from la where it's possible to drop $150 on a few cocktails so it's not the amount as much as it's what I got for it. The lobby is modern but my room was located in the annex building. Seriously, wtf is the annex building? Why am I being annexed? Guys... come up with a different name for the shitty, super-thin walled building you built in front of the existing motel making it closer to the highway and all the street noise. Yeah, the annex building sucks, but don't give off that impression before people have even been to their room. As you may be getting the idea by now, I wasn't a happy camper and did not like my room. While it was clean and comfortable (and quite large, complete with a kitchenette), it faced the parking lot so I could hear all the comings and goings all night long and as if that wasn't bad enough, if you're going to have wood floored rooms, make the walls thicker than an inch. My gawd, I heard the people (they sounded more like elephants if you ask me) above me all hours of the night. Not only did my fridge run all night ling, but being placed in front of the ice machine didn't make matters any better. Sure, with La Quinta you get a free low-quality breakfast, but that offers no value to me. I like to get out and enjoy the local flavors instead. Granted, there aren't a lot of options in Ely, but I highly doubt I'd be picking La Quinta again. read more

I've stayed at this hotel for a couple of years now and usually joyed my stay. The last two times in May & September I have had significant horrible incidences with the managers which ruined my business stay. In May I had to argue about changing my reservation even though I was giving them over 2 days notice. She did eventually agreed to change it. This month I had issues with one of my room keys the manager accuse me of sabotaging my key. That was ridiculous. I am a high level rewards member but will be trying a different hotel in October. I do want to add that the rest of the hotel staff are friendly and make my stay pleasant. Not for them I'd probably be giving the place one star. read more

We booked the room a month in advance but when we arrived we were told that the only room available was on the second floor and there wasn't any elevator. We checked our reservation and nothing was said about that. Me and my wife are seniors and I have had two knee replacements and I told the manager that I couldn't lug my luggage up two flights of stairs by myself. So I asked if someone could help me and he flat out refused to help. It was very apparent that he could care less and also said that we couldn't get another room because they were all taken. Neither would he cancel the reservation because he said AAA used a third party to make the reservation. So, I ended up taking our luggage up two flights of stairs and now my knees and back hurt. While the room was good, clean and comfortable, we won't be back because the service was terrible, uncaring, heartless, unsympathetic and cold! The worst part is that now I have to lug the luggage back down those damn stairs. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by how great this hotel was. Ely is a very, very small town, and if I had to guess, I would say this was the best choice for a hotel. The beds were comfortable, and my room was very large. It had a great bathroom with a cloth shower curtain - I LOVE the cloth shower curtain; they don't get all cruddy like a plastic one! Everything was clean. Very nice coin laundry room on the first floor - that's convenient when you are travelling. The location is pretty central, about a mile from the main strip of the town. It's next to a grocery store if you need any groceries. It's about an hour to Great Basin National park - it's an easy, pretty drive to get there. This hotel is pricey. My rate was $137. I can't complain because there wasn't any place else here I would be interested in staying at, so it is what it is. That is about $30 - $40 more than I am used to paying at these nice budget chain-type hotels (LaQuinta, B/Western, Marriott, Holiday Inn, etc.) Again, I think it was the best place in town. Breakfast area is fantastic; clean and very comfortable. The food is better than most complimentary breakfasts, and the breakfast room is like a great room. It has a beautiful fireplace, and is bright and sunny. I loved it. Staff is very friendly and there is plenty of free parking. My one and only complaint (besides price) is the wi-fi. Super, super, slow - and sometimes didn't work. I had many devices and none worked well. I asked the front desk guy, and he was VERY nice about it. He said he knew it was slow, and soon (about a month) they were going to try and get better with fiber optics. (I stayed late May/2015). If you are travelling on business and rely on wi-fi, I would check to see if there has been improvement before staying here. That being said, if they don't have good wi-fi here, I am guessing they don't anyplace else either - just a guess. Great stay. Great hotel. I would most definitely stay again. FUN THING: If you are travelling west (towards Reno), and plan on taking 50-west, go by the front desk and get a "Survival Guide". We read how 50-west was once labeled a boring and lonely road. The survival guide is fun to follow when you go through the small towns on this highway. And, we didn't find it boring at all - we found it beautiful, and very "Nevada". We saw wild horses, coyote, and a lot of interesting things along the way - including some petroglyphs which were very easy to get to and see. Loved that drive and our little "Survival Guide" booklet (I got it from the girl at the front desk) - thank you LaQuinta for that - it made the 5-hour drive SO fun. read more

I do not recommend this hotel. We made a reservation with two queen beds and sofa bed. When we checked in they only had us for two queen beds. After we showed the receptionist our booked room she still stated that it was not what they had reserved for us. I feel like I was scammed into a bogus room. After stating that I have paid additional for the sofa bed the receptionist mentioned about a roll away bed. Receptionist was very rude and we felt discriminated. Instead of a convivence to give us the bed she still wanted me to pay more for the bed after I paid for a room of two queen beds and a sofa bed. This was was the worst experience I have had while traveling. This was inconvenient for my family and as my son had to sleep on the floor with no bed or blankets.
