This place is AWESOME! From beginning to end we had a wonderful stay. Staying in the canyon was super beautiful. There is a staircase built into it that you can climb up and view the sunset which we really enjoyed. The owner was so friendly and helpful. We got a breakfast credit to use in the market and were surprised at how much it got us! The rooms were very clean and cozy. All of the lights are turned off at 9:45 pm to be able to view the dark sky and it was truly epic. The commute to Great Basin is about 20 minutes so it was super convenient for us to stay here. Can't recommend this place enough! I hope to go back some day.

I don't know exactly how it happened, but my wife and I ended up having stupid amounts of fun for what was supposed to be just a cute/rustic place to crash (we're millennial garbage.) I'll relay our stay in chronological order: We're on a two week vacation and this was the most communicative place by far in terms of emails of what to expect. There's no cell service there and the wifi is only good for email/text so we came prepared for that. The drive is about 14 minutes of gravel road and there's a winding path that you'll either find fun to drive or will be slightly scary. We went to the lobby to check in, and I was blown away by the amount of time and attention we got for directions, amenities, travel and national park tidbits, and my stupid rando questions. I am not used to that at all when it comes to air bnb's, hotels, and the like. We chatted about our travel circumstances and the front desk person sent someone to deliver some extras we didn't intend to ask for. Made the stay a lot less fussy on our long travel/ There was a mix up on the exact rental type that might annoy some people, but I don't think we would have even noticed with the room quality we got. Either way, the retreat made it right beyond what we would have expected. The property is beautiful. I ran around everywhere taking picture like a coke-head asking for spare change. There was a moderate difficulty hike up the canyon wall that I did. Good views. Almost got lost. We came back to our rooms which were nice. The bed was super comfortable and we slept well. There were a lot of other patrons around the patios and Porches drinking various sorts of booze and clearly having a blast. Was a good atmosphere (but surprisingly very quiet at night.) We had intended to go to town for dinner, but we reconsidered since it seemed so pleasant to have dinner and a drink on our porch. So instead we went to the main office store and raided it like fat children with mini red Barron pizzas, burritos, booze, and a microwave meal. The stuff was surprisingly good quality and tasty (especially the premixed bourbon drink!!!!). I'm still fiendin' after one of them green hatch chilli burritos. Yum. Ended up seeing deer which approached within 15 feet of us, apparently not giving an F. Saw some sheep and cows and chickens. It's a real ranch in a real canyon. We ended the night at the gas fire pit. FYI gotta hold the button for 20 seconds after you light it. There's a pool and a hot tub which we did not use. I got up to do star gazing but the moon set at a stupidly late time that night, so I could only barely see the Milky Way. Seems like it would be a star bonanza on the right lunar cycle. The next day we were on our way to Great Basin (drove in from Bryce Canyon) and didn't have to checkout at the office.

A lovely, peaceful and well thought out retreat. The canyon is an oasis with a rushing creek, ponds and cascades. We sway wild turkey, mule deer, ducks, swallows, and the ranch dog even took us for a walk. We were a family of 4 adults in a 1king/2 queen suite. Rooms are spotless, lots of cooking options (induction surface, convection oven/air fryer, microwave, toaster, stocked Keurig) and comfortable beds. Pool is lap size and also a great place for stargazing. Game room was nice although do the jigsaw puzzles at your own risk - the one we tried (golden retriever) had BOTH missing and extra pieces for insanity mode. The token system for the market is awesome - we came prepared with a cooler of food so we used our tokens for things like ice cream, frozen pizza and mixed drinks. Staff were all friendly and helpful. The only downside is the lack of internet (the visitor center at Lehman Caves has great signal though) but if that's a deterrent this is not the place for you. That's what the "retreat" in the name is for. Would definitely come again.

I loved staying at Hidden Canyon Retreat l! It was so amazing and peaceful, and our room was large and cozy! The only downside was that the hot tub wasn't super clean. Aside from that, everything else made for a really enjoyable stay. Even the drive to it feels like you are alone! Super cool spot! read more
This is a great spot to stay if you're visiting Great Basin National Park. The staff was incredibly accomodating. Thank you for letting us check in an hour early! The suite was very, very clean. The grounds were well maintained with a family of deer and turkey! The gravel road to get into the canyon would be easier to travel with a high clearance vehicle. Don't count on cell phone service while you're there, but you won't need it. Plenty of space to lounge, swim, or walk the grounds. The scenery is beautiful. Loved watching the sunrise and sunset here. They also have a great selection of food, drinks, and other items at their market. Loved staying here! read more

I was at this Ranch 6/15 -16 , 26 Was a 10. Friendly staff who rea;;y cares about their guests. Very clean rooms and property. The store at the office was so nice and goes with the rooms that have everything you need to cook. The stars are great at night. They turn off the lights on the property as to make it dark. It is a oasis in the dessert. I would recommend this gem to anyone. Great for kids also. read more

We absolutely loved their accommodations. Very clean and very spacious with lots of amenities like microwave and toaster oven and refrigerator. Very helpful and courteous check-in which included a mini store. Breakfast was included, but it basically was anything out of the mini store for example frozen breakfast burritos, etc. so instead of using our breakfast tokens for something like that we got a pizza that we enjoyed for dinner the night that we arrived. Very beautiful surroundings and the night sky was unbelievable. Pictures do not convey the gorgeous night sky. They turned all the lights out at 10 PM and it was absolutely gorgeous. Had to travel down a gravel road to get to the hotel but it was well-maintained. read more

Great location in a beautiful secluded canyon with deer all around (including right outside our front door one morning!) and friendly staff. The rooms themselves are a bit "rustic" and be ready for the long gravel road drive in, but given the options of places to stay when visiting Great Basin National Park, this is definitely the best. read more

Upon arriving, the staff was so helpful with everything. We encountered a man in Great Basin who left us very unsettled after harassing one of us, but the staff connected us with law enforcement and made us feel safe and welcome. Before arriving here, we had stayed at the Venetian in Las Vegas, and this place was FAR better in value and quality. As others have written, it is a hidden gem. The rooms have a very homey feel, and had everything we could possible need (and more!). Everything we could think of was accommodated, including vegan food options. Also, the night sky was unlike anything we have ever seen. They turn all the outdoor lights off shortly after it gets dark so that guests can enjoy the stars. This is the first time I have written a review simply because the service, experience, amenities, and views exceeded all expectations, and allowed us to have the most memorable excursion. We will absolutely be back in the future and cannot recommend this place enough! read more

Nestled in a canyon just south of Great Basin National Park, Hidden Canyon Retreat offers a luxurious green setting in the middle of the high desert. It is a quiet, beautiful retreat from a busy world. In late May, we spent time there, watching deer graze at dusk and listening to the creek running by. There is a hot tub situated just above the creek. Accommodations are very clean and spacious. There is a small kitchen in each room where you can cook a full meal, or barbeque outside. We enjoyed the trip into the south entrance of the park which is quite close. It provides another beautiful canyon that has moderate hiking trails and primo campsites. read more

Best place to stay if going to the park. Remote, quiet grounds, very friendly staff and lots of wildlife. Just got here and already saw about 10 deer!! Christina was super nice and accommodating at check in and we even made friends with a cat. Breakfast is included as well and the rooms are so spacious. Go for the deluxe, it's worth the extra money. Lots of amenities and absolutely loving this experience!! read more

What a perfect place to stay while in the area visiting Great Basin National Park. My husband and I usually camp or backpack, so sleeping in one of their cabins for our first "glamping" experience was a real treat. Highly recommend! read more

We stayed at Hidden Canyon Ranch in order to explore Great Basin NP. HCR is a beautiful setting where we enjoyed comfort and relaxation after stargazing, hiking and experiencing the famous Lehman Cave Tour. Not only did the Ranch provide excellent accommodations and delicious home-made breakfasts but when we had car trouble, they went above and beyond helping to get our car repaired and arrange alternative transportation so that we would not miss out on any of our planned excursions. The kindness and care we received from the owners made this trip even more memorable. read more

This retreat really is a retreat! According to other reviews, some were able to use their wi-fi and phone calls via cell phones, but we weren't, and that helped the retreat experience! No TVs in rooms, either, which was great. The property is beautiful. It is truly a hidden gem. The road to it includes some switchbacks, but well worth the 7 mile drive on an unpaved road. The owners and staff are courteous and helpful. The customer service we experienced is probably the best I've experienced, and I've been to multiple luxury hotels and resorts. For being hidden away in the middle of nowhere, the food and furnishings are surprisingly luxurious. We stayed in room 12, arrived late at night, and the ranch dogs are very welcoming---and protective of the guests. Sage chased away deer and is a very sweet puppy. We saw deer, turkey, and a coyote. read more

After driving from Salt Lake to Big Basin NP, we were so pleasantly surprised arriving at Hidden Canyon Retreat . Lush and green, comfortable, clean, well supplied room. Access to BBQ, nice outdoor picnic area watching deer eat apples. Wish we stayed more than 1 night. Good available to cook for dinner. Breakfast good. read more

Had a wonderful visit to Great Basin National park and our stay at Hidden Canyon Retreat! Rooms were super clean...like really, really clean!! Bed linens were luxurious and comfortable. The basic amenities in the kitchenette space were just enough for making our own lunch and dinner! Then the extras like bathroom products, coffee, hairdryer, etc were just frosting on the cake. The common areas were clean, yet you could tell they've been used. Overall property certainly has the "out in the country" feel with old tractors, gravel roads, and old buildings, but those are just visual compared to the great rooms. They were happy to ask about any specific requests for breakfast and the eggs were made to order! Since you're 30 min from any store, it is wonderful they offer basic amenities, small selection of food items, frozen entrees, snacks, beer, wine, and a nice variety of options! read more

We stayed here this weekend and had a lovely time. The hostesses were friendly, breakfast was homemade, they all lived in the area, everyone we met was friendly and they have 2 outdoor dogs that are real characters. The place has great animal and bird watching (saw a badger for the first time) and we are real nature buffs who have been animal seeking for 30 years. Beautiful setting. Why I give this four stars instead of five are it's "kitchenette" features are very lacking. When I think kitchenette I think an oven with a cooktop, utensils including pots and pans, sink with a drain protector and a small kitchen table to eat at. Their kitchenette is just a small mini fridge like you would find in a hotel, a very small convection oven and a microwave. We weren't experienced in the convection oven. Beware it gets extremely hot on all sides. There should have been clear printed detailed instructions on convection oven use in the room. We were told how to use it when we arrived but it wasn't enough info. Our steak became very smoky so we were scared to continue. Chicken the next day was better. There really needs to be a cooktop. You won't be able to sauté anything. Last, we had to sit on the floor to eat. No table. The only alternative to eat was at their nice couch or on the floor. Absent too were a dish drying rack, a drain protector in the sink, and pots and pans like you would see in a kitchenette. Next time I would bring precooked items that only need to be heated up as the entree. Also WiFi is very unpredictable. Most of the time we had no service and other times one can reach a connection but over an unsecured network Cell phones don't work at all but there is free landline in the common area. Would we come back to Hidden Creek Canyon? Yes for the sheer beauty of the place and the nice people we met. But next time I'm going to bring things I can boil or cook in a microwave. And maybe some tray tables. read more

History
Established in 1992.
When Ron and Robin Crouch purchased the property in 1992, they were not sure what they would do with it. They cleared the land and soon discovered there was a need for guest accommodations around the Great Basin National Park area. The property has slowly evolved from camping to traditional B&B to traditional hotel accommodations.
Meet the Business Owner: Robin C.

Like many small business owners, she wears multiple hats - Head Cook, Kitchen Manager, and bookkeeper (just to name a few). When she's not working, she enjoys traveling with Ron to visit her kids and grandkids, reading, and spending time with animals.
