I was there earlier today (04/07). Very disappointed. The breakfast sandwich, made with what was supposed to be sausage, was cold in the middle, had very little flavor and fell apart. The meat patty tasted like it was frozen and not thawed all the way thru. I took a few bites, but found it unpalatable. Fortunately, the restaurant didn't charge me for it, which was nice. Had a late breakfast/early lunch here today. It was really nice. Good menu selection, breakfast served all day! I had an omelet with bacon,cheese, avocado, and hollandaise served with fruit or potatoes and toast or a biscuit. Great portion for the price. We were all very pleased with our food. This cafe came recommended to us by a local store we were in. Greeter was friendly enough. After we were seated it took about 5-10 minutes before our server even came to talk with us. We placed our orders, my wife specifically requested mayo be kept off and I requested medium rare for burger. It took about 20 minutes for order, server never once checked in on us. My wife finally went to check on our order and they insisted it had only been 10 minutes. My wife's food had mayo on it and mine was overcooked. One of the staff brought us napkins when we requested them and to go boxes, each time I said thank you but she didn't even utter any response. Complained to them about service time and order quality, they didn't even offer any compensation and argued the time it took with us. The food itself is equivalent to cafeteria food. Let me start by saying what a great wait staff you have. I really believe that they care about " service". I am personally in the "service" industry and have been over 30 years. I have been in both alone, with groups and with my 8 year old child on several occasions and have always been pleasantly surprised at the level of care by the staff and the quality and portions of the food. Take it from a food lover who eats out on a regular basis. I can say that anytime I am in Sumner I like to stop in for a bite. I would highly recommend a visit to this special little cafe. Went there for breakfast, I had the pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Very impressed, great atmosphere, staff was very friendly. Prices in comparison to the portions was more than you could ask for, I highly recommend if you're in the Sumner area. Gotta say, been here many times and this is the last. The food really is very good, but the service is terrible-really, really terrible. We were here at 8:05 and came into an empty dining area and didn't recieve our food until after 9. When we asked if something had happened, the server with snark made excuses, and told us she was really busy. When pressed-that we were the first people here, she continued to make excuses, and never apologized. Then to top it off, for the grand finalle, my husband recieved coffee in a cup with fresh lipstick on it. Talk about disgusting. Based on the good Yelp reviews a friend and I decided to stop in for lunch while running an errand in Sumner. We were seated relatively quick. Place has the feel of an eclectic diner. Server was nice and my potato salad wasn't terrible which are the only reasons for the 2 stars. I ordered a tuna sandwich with potato salad and a cup of chili. My friend ordered the south of the border hobo hash since that's what they seem to be known for (menu says it's famous). Food took a long time to come out, given the simplicity of what was ordered. We waited probably half hour for the food. I had to remind my server about my cup of chili and honestly I'm sorry I did. Tuna sandwich was meh, potato salad was fair (not sweet so that's a win) but the chili was terrible. I tried stirring it and was met with an extremely strange dry clump of beans and meat. The waitress had said they made their chili in house so I thought maybe it just had an odd consistency but a great flavor. Noooope it did not. I don't know if it was just old chili that had been reheated and dried out or what the deal was but it was truly disgusting. I would under no circumstances recommend it. My friend said their south of the border hobo hash was mediocre and had only a couple meager pieces of kielbasa. This place was a total miss. Maybe it was an off day. I did overhear the waitress telling someone they had a new cook so maybe that explains the lackluster and downright awful food we got. WOW! We must have hit this place on a bad day or time because there was nothing good about anything we were served. A patty melt with what looked like a cheap formed frozen burger cooked until it was dry and hard served with so little cheese it was almost not visible. The burger was also half the size of the bread?!? The hash browns were almost uncooked, definitely not any crisp. The eggs were runny despite asking for the medium well. unbelievable bad experience - went with my two daughters for breakfast. Ordered 3 large breakfasts - daughters each also wanted cinnamon rolls. Waitress brought out cinnamon rolls and one of them looked smushed and funny. Daughter put her fork in it and out came a hair. Waited for waitress to come back...after what seemed like forever she appeared at our table and whisked the cinnamon roll away. We waited and waited and no one returned to our table. Finally the owner came back to the table holding the cinnamon roll in her hand. She seemed perturbed by us and didn't seem to understand that we were not only annoyed at finding a hair in our pastry - but also as to how the waitress seemed totally indifferent to us. We complained to her that the cinnamon roll had a hair and that the waitress did not say a word, seemed perturbed by us, and rudely whisked it away and then did not return to our table for what seemed like an eternity. The owner defended the waitress saying "she is a great waitress...She is not like that at all..." as the owner continued to defend her waitress and her cinnamon roll I glanced closer at the roll in her hand...it was then that I noticed there was what appeared to be lint all over the roll. I brought my hand closer to the roll and picked the lint off the cinnamon roll and said to the owner..."look at this...what is this?" There was more and more lint or fuzz that soon was noticeable as you looked closer at it. I was shocked and appalled - later as I thought about it I believe they had dropped it on the floor and then put it back on your plate - as this explains how it looked misshapen upon delivery to our table. The ridiculous way the owner tried to deal with us as well as the fact they would pick food off the floor and put it on your plate makes me sick. I and every member of my family will never set foot in that place again. In addition, I make it a point to share this story with anyone that expresses interest in that dump. read more

I hate giving bad ratings... I don't go places and spend money for the fun of it. I go because I want a good, hot meal that I don't have to cook or clean up after. I tried this place a couple times after having great luck as the prior restaurant. The first time, the waitress was very rushed, which is often understandable if a place has amazing food... but that wasn't the case for us. Everything we had was bland, and our hash browns were barely light brown, and lukewarm on top of it. It sucks when something isn't right / good when you're hungry, because then half of your food is being reheated... and when you have eggs, you have to have potatoes at the SAME TIME, not 10 minutes later. I'm pretty understanding, so we ate what we could stomach at the temperature, which was smart, because we were upstairs and didn't see anyone for quite some time. Took most to go, cooked it better when we got home, and it wasn't terrible but was tasted a little like they had used something artificial, maybe fake butter? Old grease? Not sure. Tried again a few months later since we found out that the first time was literally right after the new owners had taken over. Ordered an omelette, my adult son ordered biscuits and gravy, and the younger one ordered a burger. The one thing we all said, was that our food was lacking in any kind of seasoning. The gravy was extremely bland and had that flour taste... and my kiddo who had ordered his burger medium, got it cooked all the way through, to the point of being dry. My omelette wasn't disgusting, but for me... food needs to be more than just 'not disgusting' for me to want to eat it again. To top it off... prices are pretty high for what we got, especially considering the lack of quality. Also, the breakfast items again had a fake taste to them. It really stinks, because there are so few decent places for breakfast, especially places where you can order it all day. I'd like to say that I'll try again in a few more months, but I doubt it. I hate having to drive to Puyallup or Tacoma for breakfast, so looks like I'm stuck with Van's frozen waffles, pop tarts, or wheat chex. Yay. Very nice please to enjoy breakfast or lunch. We've done both. I had and omelette and my husband had the French toast meal. Both were wonderful. Our favorite though is to go on the weekend and get fried chicken and jojos. By far the best fried chicken you can get anywhere close and the sour cream dipping sauce is to die for. We went in today for breakfast around 8:20am. There were 7 other people eating in the restaurant. It took 30 minutes to get our food and the waitress said it because they over cooked the waffle. When she brought out our food the waffles were so burned they just crumbled into pieces. The waitress then asked in a confused tone "If they were too done?" We passed on eating and asked for our bill. She removed the burned food from the bill. However the fact that they served it to us knowing it was burned and inedible is completely unacceptable especially at the prices they charge. read more
