I've lived in Buckley for almost 10 years and have always wanted to try Charlie's. Finally my husband and I tried it and we were so impressed! Friendly staff, and attentive. The food was huge portions. I got the Denver omlette but subbed bacon for the ham. The bacon was crispy and so good. The hashbrowns were also really crispy and tasted homemade. French toast was also delicious. They have a big lunch menu too. They sell local items inside like sweatshirts, hanging glass stars, local homemade candles, and custom cribbage boards. Breakfast on out way to Mt. Rainier White River Campground and lunch on our way home. The decor is everything Coca Cola. Service is friendly and efficient and the food is memorable. This is our go to restaurant on this route. Lots of patrons were locals and had their own coffee cup on the wall. Not cheap but worth every bit. Coffee is $3.5 and refilled as much as you want. Two generous meals and 2 coffees run about $40 plus tax and tip. Glad it is not closer or we would eat there too often. read more

Huge shout out to the staff at Charlie's. It was exactly what we needed after a miserable commute from Seattle for our mom's 80th birthday. Found this place by chance. It was packed with people for breakfast so went in. Sat the counter since we didn't want to wait 15-20 min for a table. Servers were very friendly and efficient, filling our coffee and water. Breakfast was just as delicious with lots of options. We ordered the Charlies special omelet, breakfast platter and pancakes. Love the pancakes and sausage. I'm very picky about pancakes and this was spot on. Fluffy and flavorful. We all enjoyed our meal. read more

I eat here often enough but have never posted. You know when a local spot is consistent, reviews are an after thought. Not today! I arrived on a Sunday at about 8:30 with open seating. I was quickly offered a beverage upon being sat with menu in hand. My order was promptly taken and food prepared. I ordered the Grandpa John's scramble (half size because whoa their full size portions here are massive). What I really love is that they don't season your food... meaning I control the salt. This is major for me!! The other thing is they let me be...coming by the table at just the right intervals. Today, Maribel is my server (& has been in the past) so she remembers preferences. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. Seriously the BEST customer service I've ever had!! Our waitress came by several times to make sure that our coffee cups were always topped off. Our water was topped off and she was super friendly. Just for that alone I'd recommend this place. The food was great as well! I had two 4" waffles with strawberries and whip cream. The menu said they were crispy and they sure were. So many times Belgian waffles get soggy when you put the toppings on them but these were crispy until the very last bite. This place has gone down hill! im a man who eats a lot of steak. They tried passing off a round grilled hamburger Pattie as a sirloin steak. That was 1/4 inch thick. I should have taken a pic of it . Saturday mornings are quite busy at Charlie's Cafe. We were quoted a 15 minute wait for three people, however we were seated in about 5 minutes. Service was quick and friendly but the food was just mediocre. I would say it's comparative to a Denny's but with larger portions. I love the puzzle decorations they have on the walls. read more

Charlie's is a favorites for sure. It's such a cool 1950's, Cola themed restaurant that offers the best of both of worlds of Breakfast and Lunch. Today I ordered the spicy burger without pepper-jack. I really appreciate that they give you the option to "build" your burger the way you want to. The jalapeños offered a nice spice to the burger and the pickles only made it better. The onion rings here are also good but a little too greasy. I have had many other lunch foods here such as the chicken wrap (fried), popcorn shrimp, chicken strips and more. Their bacon, cinnamon rolls and waffles are the best that I have ever tasted and their waitresses are so sweet and very attentive to your foodie needs. 4.8/5 read more

On our way out from Rainier, we were looking for some brunch nearby. We came across Charlie's and liked the sound of the menu so we chose here! It's your typical small town diner. Cute decor, personable service, and feels like a spot that's been family-owned forever. They even had photos on the wall of a family that I assume are the owners, or original owners, which was a cute touch. I went with the Country Fried Steak with Sausage Gravy for my entree. The gravy was decent but not as great as I've tried other spots. Overall was a good breakfast, but nothing crazy memorable. Definitely hit the spot after hiking, though! One Quick Tip: They offer "Swiss" cheese on some things, such as omelettes. It is not Swiss cheese. It is white American cheese. This isn't a good or bad thing, but something you should be aware of. While I personally don't enjoy American cheese, one of its positive qualities is that it has a lower melting point than other types of cheese. This makes it really perfect for hot foods like burgers where you want to get a perfect melt at a low enough temp to still get a medium rare. For some reason, Charlie's uses this white American cheese single in their omelettes. If it was on a mushroom Swiss burger, I would totally get it - but in an omelette, it just makes a very wet vaguely cheesy mess. Opt for the cheddar when possible. Other than that, Charlie's has delicious food that is exactly what you hope for from a diner. Recommended! read more

The first time my wife and I had breakfast at Charlie's it was great and we were eager to return the next time we were in Enumclaw. We went for lunch on 3/11/24 and it was terrible. I had a patty melt that was very dry and tasteless, onion rings were so so. My wife reuben sandwich wasn't much better and the fries were soggy. I asked what pies they had and was told berry so I ordered a piece to go. It was rhubarb and I couldn't tell what else was in it so It was thrown out. Very disappointing, we won't be back. read more

Came here because we couldn't find another place open and I'm actually glad that was the case. Walking in has old town vibes in the best possible way, was very clean and just a quaint little place. I ordered the chicken fried steak and eggs which was absolutely amazing, the steak was crispy, gravy savory and I love their sour dough toast which were circular rounds over the normal slices. I wasn't a huge fan of the hashbrowns but mostly because I like the thinner grated kind and these were thick. My fiancé and kids all loved their food i.e the rocket burger, clubhouse and 222. They all were fond and complimentary of the house made fries. Our server was super friendly and very efficient, the restaurant and bathrooms were very clean. Stopped in a couple of weeks back on a weekday morning. We made it in just in time, by the time we left there were several parties waiting for tables. It was a little wait time for someone to take either a drink or food order but the food came out fairly quick and we could see how fast the people in the kitchen were moving. This was a nice alternative to the regular local Sunday brunch options. It was at the end of a few open country roads so we could make some noise with the car before settling in for breakfast. In all honesty I would give a generous 3.5 rating but there are no half stars. On a side note it's a perfect destination for a car club gathering. Great small town diner out in the country and farmland. Wonderful history and, for what it is, a very donation-generous business (as witnessed by the restroom hallway). Took a lunch break from our field review here. I had the Fish Sandwich, some tea and water. The fries remind you of Dick's, only perhaps more substance. The fish patty had a crispy, chewy texture to it. Pretty good. Super cute diner, decor of a bygone era everywhere, vintage Coke memorabilia everywhere, small, cute, simple artsy bits here and there... definitely felt the clock turned back. The road it's on reminded me of the intro sequence in the film It Happened At The World's Fair, where Elvis hopped a ride to the Seattle World's Fair in '62 along such a road with a view of Mount Rainier. We ate breakfast here twice last week. I'd recommend calling and getting on the wait list, this will save you time. service was excellent. Breakfast #1- I ordered a "hunter's omelet", which comes with mushrooms, green peppers and onions. Unfortunately the mushrooms and peppers were raw and the onions only marginally cooked. The egg was great, nice thin crepe like. It also had bacon and cheese - no complaints. I also asked for "extra crispy" hash browns. The potatoes' that came out were not your classic grated potato, but rather chopped up potato and the size of a dime in size. Minimal crisping was done to these potatoes. They were cooked, but not crispy. My wife got the "cowpie" which is a bunch of stuff with gravy on top. She really liked the gravy, but this also came with raw vegetables which she didn't care for. She said it was good not Great. Breakfast #2- I got the 222, 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage ( you can choose other things if you want). I got the eggs over medium and they were cooked nicely, sausage was great too. the pancakes were a bit gummy and I'm not sure if they were under cooked or that's just the batter they use. Perfectly fine, nothing special. Wife got - "True blue" omelet, with "extra crispy" hash browns. omelet was great, not raw veg included in this one. potatoes' not crispy, again. Overall we like this place, but it could be a little better. read more

Terrible service just don't go... went this morning for breakfast, waitress told us, after 15 minutes of waiting, my husband going up to register and asking to place our order, that she has other tables and would get to us in a few minutes, that was the 2nd time we were told this. There were plenty of staff there and it should not take over 15 minutes to simply place an order. Staff was rude and we will not be back. Unless you have excessive time to hang out at Charlie's waiting to place an order, I would say do not go. read more

I've been debating to do this because we live in Enumclaw & the places to eat out are starting to dwindle. I came on 05/19 got the buckaroo & got food poisoning I should of known when the gravy was very cold. They also charged for a single slice of French toast with blueberries almost $10 which I asked for the cakes but got the $10 single slice of French toast didn't make it a big deal. The food poisoning was a big deal.Sadly after my last visit I do not think we will ever come back it might be concerning for their health standards & pricing. read more
