I am extremely disappointed with the service my family received from Home Shield Pest Control. We originally hired them due to spiders, ants, and recently spotting a roach. Although it appeared to be an outdoor roach, I specifically requested that they treat the situation as if it were German roaches out of caution. This required a deep treatment, which meant completely emptying cabinets, drawers, closets, and moving appliances throughout the entire house. It was a huge amount of work, but we did everything required to prepare. When the technician came, the service felt rushed and incomplete, as if not all areas were properly treated. Still, we trusted they did their job. We were told a second treatment was required two weeks later, and that's where everything went downhill. April 10: I waited all day, received no call, and no one showed up. I contacted the company, and they couldn't reach the technician. Rescheduled to April 13 (3-5 PM): I rearranged my schedule again and even missed work (losing income) to be home. Once again, no call and no show. I left my house at 5:00 PM after my appointment window ended. The technician showed up at 5:05 PM, outside of the scheduled time, expecting me to be there. After this, I spoke with a manager named Louis. Due to the poor experience, I told him the only way I would continue service is if I was taken off the year contract and switched to month-to-month. He agreed and said he would send written confirmation. I never received that email. It has now been days, and despite texting him (as he suggested for communication), I have received no response. On top of everything, since the treatment, we are actually seeing more bug activity than ever before--worse than before we even started service. We are seeing more bugs than we ever have, including ants and spiders throughout the house. When I called about it, I was told to "wait for the treatment to settle," which is frustrating given everything we've already gone through. After preparing my home three separate times, missing work, and dealing with repeated no-shows and lack of communication, I can confidently say: This company is unreliable and unprofessional. This is a long overdue review! We have been using HomeShield since 2022 and have been very happy with their service! We found them because we wanted a reputable company with pet-friendly treatments, we were having problems with ants, spiders, and earwigs. We first tried some chemicals treatments from Home Depot, which worked somewhat but not effective enough. We gave up and called Homeshield and after their first treatment (inside and out) we could already see extremely effective results!! I wished we had called them sooner! Ever since, we have been doing quarterly treatments (outside only, which was our family's choice to limit our exposure to chemicals) and it has been keeping the pests at bay. I can't imagine how effective it would be if we treated inside the house too!! We appreciate our regular technician, Luis, who is very professional and quick! He always sends a detailed summary after every visit so we know exactly what treatments/chemicals were applied. A week ago we saw a rodent in our garage, it was very upsetting but we knew exactly who to call. Melissa came to our house and she was fantastic! She listened to all our concerns, answered all our questions, and educated us about rats and mice! She set traps for us and helped set us up with a free inspection appointment to find any holes/ entry points that might be letting rodents in our house, so they can be eventually be sealed up. My partner and I reached out to Homeshield Pest Control a few months back when we noticed some pest activity in our home after moving in. We reached out to several pest companies and they were the only one to respond to inquiries the same day and we were on the phone with a tech within an hour. We sent pictures of the activity to the office while on the phone and they were able to ID the problem over the phone based on the pictures . They were so punctual and happy to help despite us being far from their office, we signed up for their services while we had them on the phone. We signed up for their services Friday, they gave us the weekend to prep our house for treatment and they were at our front door first thing Monday morning. We signed up for reoccurring treatments to which we pay $65 a month for reoccurring visits. We may call during any time for additional treatment if we see any uptick in activity. We have had no issues since we have given our business to Homeshield. They have always been so kind, respectful of our home, informative and their good work shows by having no past activity since giving them our business.
