Let's say we were not looking into paying for routine Pest Control service. We were never impressed with seeing a difference in the service from other known companies before and whether the service was worth the costs. The chemical smells were really awful and gave us massive headaches for a few days after spraying. Therefore we had bought the natural chemicals, spray every few months, and still dealt with bugs roaming throughout our home. After 10 years of spraying our home we were realizing that the battle was lost but we didn't know which companies to call. Then we had an unexpected visit this past summer 2016 from Spencer at Akela sharing about all naturally sourced Pest Control products. He shared about the natural essential oils they used and how it was much more effective yet still safer than other products available in the stores. So we agreed on a one year contract that offered a little discount. Our first visit took place a few weeks after Spencer signed us on. We choose not to have the inside sprayed. So far, we have won the bug battle. They are out of our home and not seen much outside. Ivan came and did an incredible job with taking care of our black widows, spider eggs and other pesky critters. When he came to spray for our initial treatment, he spent time dusting off the webs along the outside of the house as well as our porch steps. He even wiped off the black widow webs from our trash cans and sprayed. He also took care of the massive ant mounds on our front yard. Since we had gophers, he took care of them as well. This was an added expense but we didn't want our prized crab grass lawn with an abundance of gopher holes. Ivan checked up on us afterwards and even came out a few additional times to check on the holes to determine if they were gone without charging us. I came to find out that the additional visits were done on his days off so he wasn't even getting paid. What a hard working young man!! FYI. Even though we selected the essential oils treatment, the fumes were still very strong for us. These are more environmentally friendly but still are chemicals. If they are able to wipe out a legion of bugs then those same chemicals can cause harm to people. Our friends who use the treatment are not bothered by the scent and actually like the smell. But with three young children and also having a keen sense of smell, we just leave for the entire day. We also leave our AC on to fan in order to reduce the smell. For his 2nd treatment visit, he gave us a warning when he was coming by so we could plan to be away from the house. He was incredibly patient and even waited for us for over 15 minutes while we were getting the children out of the home before spraying. So he took more time brushing off more webs and the little fly like bugs by our front porch light. We can definitely recommend Ivan as the most thorough and thoughtful pest person we have met. The owner Adam Stout is also a mindful person. He answered all our questions about the products. It's also noticeable he cares for his employees' safety as Ivan wears what appears to be a better quality face chemical mask with filters along with proper chemical attire. I have seen other companies offering their Pest Control employees the cheap paper masks or nothing to cover their face. I highly recommend Akela for their professional working staff and use of more environmentally cautious products. read more

This company has the absolute WORST customer service I've ever experienced! I agreed to a salesman (who came to my door with a No Soliciting sign on it) to a quarterly treatment for $89. I was told that they would treat the first month, then return the following month to disrupt egg cycles. From then on out it would be every 3 months. They treated the first time. The tech spent the entire time on his phone having personal conversations that were inappropriate for my children to hear, right outside their bedroom window. I was sent a survey which was negative. I was called and begged for a second chance. I reluctantly agreed. They were supposed to return the following month as I was told to "disrupt the egg cycles". Instead I got a phone call 4 months later (NOT quarterly!) asking to schedule the next day. I was unavailable and since I have dogs I have to be home. I asked for someone to call me back. I never heard back. Then 4 months after that I got another phone call asking to schedule for the next morning. Again, I cannot schedule on short notice and asked for a customer service rep to call me. I NEVER heard back from anyone. So, I signed the quarterly contract in December of 2016. Received service April 17, 2017 for which the bill was paid May 17, 2017. I HAVE NOT received ANY further treatments or ANY return phone calls from customer service in 10 MONTHS!!!! Then I log into my bank account and see that my credit card has a $198 pending charge!! FOR WHAT!?!?!? And of course it goes through after their office closes and I am unable to reach anyone! This is the absolute WORST experience I've ever had with a customer service based company. I can't even get anyone to call me as each of the technicians who have called schedule have assured me. The only person I've talked to in almost a YEAR has been a technician calling after office hours to schedule a treatment last minute. All I've asked is that a representative call me back...EACH TIME and they have failed EVERY TIME! I just want nothing more to do with this company and now I'm dealing with a credit card charge without actually receiving service. Since its after hours I get to deal with the anxiety attack that I am currently having as I can't resolve this issue until morning. read more

We started our services with Akela in September after a tough summer with ants, spiders, and large roaches outside that would occasionally get in the house. YUCK! When they came to the door to solicit their services, the timing couldn't have been better. We've never had a pest control company before and always treated the house ourselves to keep costs minimal. There was slight confusion with billing in the beginning but was quickly resolved. We are on quarterly service now and the pricing is very reasonable. After the first service, almost one month later, I was still seeing some spiders both dead and alive both inside and outside with new webbing outside, no roaches inside, only one dead in the garage, and no more ants. I called for a re-treat, and the office was able to schedule someone to come the same week to address the spiders, no hassle, no issues. The gentleman that came was courteous, called ahead of time, arrived at the time quoted, and I explained my concerns. Pete was extremely thorough, making sure all areas were re-treated front and back and around the perimeter. He also took his time ensuring the de webbing was done around the entire house. I've been a route manager for Akela Pest Control for two summers now. Having been out with multiple technicians (Lou, Ivan, Ross, etc) to see them service homes, I can testify to the proactive work our technicians perform. Just yesterday, I ran into Ross servicing one of my accounts in Menifee as I was still knocking in the neighborhood the following day. The day previous, I had sold my customer with ant problems in his kitchen, and offered to treat for no extra cost inside, but he declined the offer and said we could just treat outside. However, after servicing his home, Ross again talked to him about about the benefits of spot treating in and around the kitchen, and emphasized the fact that our products are pet and family friendly, and my customer agreed to having the inside spot treated! That's the kind of proactive technician work I have witnessed: technicians who want to do a Job done right. I've only had one or two customers who have still seen problems after a month of service, and when I've heard back from them, I've been able to get a technician back out within 48 hours to reservice the home for free! The other company knocked on my front door, told me I have spider webs by the door. I said I am with Akela. They should come this month and schedule for bug spray soon. They said they has better spray "4 feet wide". They said akela not doing a good job that's why the web is there.... Lol.... Why would every company bring a spider web remover stick every time they do the service. They said they can spray on to plants.... Hmmm.... He said to give him a chance.... I had been with so many companies that I can say "NO pest control company in this world that will get rid of bugs at your house forever 100%!" That's why they have quarterly service to end sure and hope bugs will stay away from the house... I have been with Akela for couple of years now! I've had this service for over a year. If there were any issues we have had called customer service they were great and they always sent someone back out . the only thing they need better is to set up appointments if your not home they should leave appointment reminder and the call coming in should read akela . they should not service your house when they cant do a complete job and have to come back out anyway make sure appointments set thats better service. Today the guy that came out his name was David! and did a fabulous job as did most of the guys that came out they dusted cob webs off chairs and kids toys and explained what they doing. they have been on time when we have appointments set guys are always friendly.the chemicals they use work well we have had no ants or spiders in the house . I had previously had several other pest control companies and every summer I always have ants appear everywhere in my yard, side walks, and driveway that eventually started to come closer to the house. When the Akela rep came to my door he was extremely respectful and was able to explain everything in great detail. What I really loved about their service is that they actually took care of my yard! Not just my house but also my entire property! The ant issue that I previously had was gone within a week, initially I was skeptical so I went around avidly searching for them, only I wasn't able to find any! Talk about feeling taken care of. I have a spider problem and a small child in my house. I was worried one of these spiders was going to bite her. The people at Akela pest control really put the welfare of my family first. Joseph the tech that service my house was so kind to me and my daughter and made me feel comfortable having a stranger in the house. He was so good at his job and really got in every nook and cranny to make sure he got all the spiders out. He promise me that he would be back soon and that of I noticed one of those pesky spiders back before his next appointment that I could call and he would come and take care of it ASAP. Adam, our salesmen was very friendly and easy to work with! We just moved into our new home. Lucky us we had black widows and suprise roaches that appeared! Adam listened to my concerns and told me the game plan! A big plus to me was that they were able to come out and service my home in a timely manner! Also, when I called to set up the following apt, the receptionist was very nice and answered the phone right away! For our technician, we had the pleasure of working with Ricky. Scott came out for our annual service. He called me before he arrived and I was not home, he said he would try and come back later to accommodate me. He texted me about two hours later saying he was on his way and by then I was home. Scott treated the outside of our home and then I asked him to treat inside. Scott was very pleasant, after he left I noticed that there was no residue on my floors which has happened every time before the inside has been treated. I noticed that the treatment was on the baseboards and not the floors which I was very happy with because our floors are darker wood and shows every little thing. The Timing was right, I just finished with another pest control company and I met Adam( also referred by another home owner in my community ). He and I walked around my property and he showed me how much they spray and protect my house from pests. In addition other pest services if I needed that as well. Once I signed up, he told me a technician will be here in the next few days and we were on our way for service for this 2021-2022 year. I was pleased with the follow up emails and text and the work done. He said between times coming out I can call them back if I see pests and they will spray for free. Great service and communication. We found Akela Pest Control when a rep came to our front door. When he told us that the solution they use is organic my husband and I were sold. They serviced our house today for the first time and they went above my expectations. I thought that I was going to have to take my dogs and be out of the house for a few hours but I was wrong. Because the solution is safe for people and pets we were able to stay home and I just had to put our dogs in their crates for a few minutes. One of the owners, Adam, came for our first visit and it was great meeting him. So far all three people that we have met from the company have been great and very friendly. read more
