Yesterday afternoon I was looking for Homeland Locksmith to have keys copied. This store had been recommended by a hardware store as being a top place to go to. Located on 14th between First & Second Avenues it was east to find. Amir, the owner was welcoming and made copies of my two keys. Here they specialize in Medeco keys which often cannot be copied in most other places including Home Depot. Amir is a man who speaks many languages (Hebrew, Korean, Persian, Arabic, Spanish, Hindi, Marathi) to name a few as he has traveled around the world. A fascinating man who is charming and professional. $8 for two keys was reasonable and he put them in a key ring for me and gave me another ring free. Toda Amir. Highly recommended. read more

Have been here before to get a basic key made. The guy behind the counter was subbing for somebody else but I needed it, and when it didn't fit and I had to go back, the guy who was there was unnecessarily weird: Maybe it was Amir and maybe "he has traveled around the world" like another reviewer here wrote but I wasn't there to party, just wanted a key. My partner on the other hand had a good experience when she was unable to unlock the bedroom door. When she went to the store, there were two men, and the older one didn't hesitate to come over and fix the situation. It only took 20 minutes, and she didn't feel that it was expensive. A third time we got two different keys made. They specialize in Medeco keys which often cannot be properly copied. I had a really fantastic experience at Homeland Locksmith! I had a pack of screws that arrived with no tool, and none of my screwdrivers were able to fit. I was hoping a locksmith may be able to help me and I have to say that the service that I got was better than I ever imagined. Scam artist! Not a locksmith. I had 3 keys duplicated and none of them worked. He won't give you your money back either. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere read more

THIEVES. They asked me $105 in cash for 3 keys. But $120 with a credit card! As I was so chocked and ready to leave, an other vendor came and proposed to give me a break at $88. The keys didn't work at all, they were incapable to make them so they had to reimburse me. Then I found Warshaw Hardware. I payed half the price and the keys work perfectly. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND GIVE YOU A NONWORKING KEY. I went to make two duplicates for a key. One key worked and the other did not. I was charged $7.65 for the two keys (cash only!) and not given a receipt. When I returned the next day to let them know one of the keys did not work, the guy at the front register rudely said that he knew it would not work (why would he knowingly sell me a key that does not work?) I asked him how could it be possible that one of the duplicates he gave me works, and the other one does not? He refused to make me another copy, so I requested a refund. He then refunded me $2.50 (even though he had charged me over $7 for the two keys). I will never return here again. read more

Rude, i'd rather walk 20 min to a different locksmith than give them a cent of my money

I got a couple of keys last week, didn't get an opportunity to try them out until this past weekend and neither worked. Wouldn't even breach the keyhole. I should have suspected that spending no more than 30 seconds or so on each key would be good for them but not good for me. No rush was necessary in any case since no one was waiting behind me. Live and learn and hopefully you folks out there looking to get the job done right and reasonably can learn along with me. Too bad what may have once been a solid neighborhood establishment seems (to me at least) to have gone downhill. read more

I came here to get a key cut. The man behind the counter was extremely rude. I turned around and left.

Extremely helpful. If you ever get locked out they are the ones to call. Even after using a different service(which I regret, homeland would have done for cheaper and without drilling the lock) they set me up wIth a new cylinder and explained how to install. read more
