For my sister's 35th birthday (Coronavirus-era style) we decided to do it up real big and meet up at HomeGoods for a socially distanced hang. I grabbed my hand sanitizer, masked up and as soon as I walked in requested a large cart because MAMA'S HOME BABY! It has been over 116 days since my last HomeGoods trip but I made up for lost time by picking through every single aisle with a fine tooth comb. Did I really need two lamps, yet another oven mitt, a pink mermaid stool, woven folk art hanging, a step trash can, flamingo wrapping paper, lemon wrapping paper, a baby doll, three puzzles, an over the shower rack and an over the door rack? The answer is YES. Quarantine means that we are hanging out at our casa way more so these items were an essential investment. (OK I probably didn't need the lemon wrapping paper but flamingo, definitely yes). It was a bit crowded on the weekend but everyone was masked up and socially distanced. They had arrows on the floor that allowed you to browse through the aisles easily without bumping into anyone. The Kingstowne HomeGoods is my favorite one out of all the Homegoods because it is always well stocked and it's right next to a TJ Maxx for double the fun. The manager at this store location in kingstowne va does not understand customer service at all. I gave him 2 reasonable requests at purchase and he did none of them to my satisfaction and one of the requests he didn't do at all. It isn't hard to embrace customer service. Annoying. read more

I am a loyal HomeGoods customer, but today I'm angry. It's the day before thanksgiving and the line is extremely long. There is an elderly lady with a cane at the end of the line. I went to the registers and asked the manager (Chris, ginger w/ earrings) if he would allow the lady to move up in line so that she doesn't have to stand in the long line. He said NO. His response was "I don't know what to tell you, if I let her then others might get upset... and I'd have to make other exceptions". I reiterated that she's elderly and handicapped. It made NO difference! Wow! I'm disgusted with the lack of empathy and concern for the elderly and handicapped. The elderly lady was purchasing an angle for her granddaughter. All I can say about this particular location is wow! I was so impressed with how large of a space it is yet there are seemingly endless products available for purchase. I mean an astonishing amount of Christmas merchandise was available/crammed in during my recent visit. All beautifully arranged and organized. I found myself wanting many things and adding them to my wishlist. I absolutely love HomeGoods because they have so many great quality products usually at awesome prices too! Offering the same variety of items as other HG stores, they seem to have a limited selection in furniture, rugs, lighting fixtures, mirrors, bedding, bath products, dining options, kitchen essentials, and pet accessories/snacks. I usually stop by to check if they have specific specialty pup snacks available, or specific French saute pans. The clearance section mostly has seasonal food items. This is my favorite HomeGoods store in terms of customer service. Everyone here is sooooooo nice! People shopping at discount stores have a tendency to ask for ridiculous things and I have witnessed a couple of incidents where this could have gone badly, but their employees manage to take it in stride and somehow keep a smile on their face. I highly commend them for this! As for the store content, I think Fairfax gets slightly more variety, but they almost always have what I am looking for, and their is a TJ Maxx right next door if they don't. I am also impressed with the cleanliness of this store, again, this is an area discount stores can struggle in, but not this store! Man, this place is like a museum. You could literally spend hours in here. I found myself walking slow and trying to eyeball every thing that had a sku number in there to see if there was something worthy of going home with me. Lol They even have this old school arcade game with 13 games on it. If that thing was $500 cheaper there would've been some late and no sleep nights happening. Anyway, going to stores like this reminds why going to the big stores for things like kitchenware, furniture and bathroom stuff makes no sense. Wouldn't accept a $100 bill to pay for my purchase despite it being legal tender in this country because, I was told, "they're not a bank." I had already given the cashier the money and they refused to give my money back until they ran through the entire thing as a "return" because my items had already been rung up...I just stood there several minutes with neither my money nor my items until they had processed it all. For the most part, this treasure trove of home decorations and furniture never lets me down. Sure, it can be rather pricey at times, but when you find that ideal piece, it is all worth it. My two favorite finds include a dresser goes perfectly with my bedroom's Indian inspired theme..Namaste..and giant TV stand for my flat screen. I really love my new TV stand for it is the perfect height and is load with basket drawers that once again match the decor of my living room. It is from Indonesia, which since I go there at least every other year, feels just like home. Of course, my TV stand was most likely designed as a bench, but it doesn't matter, for re-purposing is the name of the game in home decor, and this HomeGoods certainly has you covered with all sorts of cool finds that will make your house pop with style. The service is also pretty good here, and an attendant help me find and load my TV stand into the van. He was so nice that I tipped him $10 for his effort. Needless to say, I will return to this store, for I am sensing an upcoming makeover for my man cave. read more

Amazing store! Homegoods offers quite an array of items every home could use! From dinner ware, to kitchen gadgets, to bed sheets, to living room and bed room furniture all the way to bathroom decor and gardening! Homegoods has it all! I didn't even mention their food. The store offers a modest amount or gourmet coffee, chocolate, and cookies as well. I really enjoy looking at their picture frames and my sister likes the stationary items. She finds THE CUTEST journals here. I've also found many International products here as well. Last year, I found an entire collection of animal shaped piggie banks from India (Owls, Elephants, Kitties! Oh my!). My sister and I purchased quite a few to give as gifts. "We are not allowed in here for another year," declared my bff happily as we exited this corner of paradise, laden down with bags filled with with more decorating goodies that you ever thought existed. I didn't want to concur with her self-imposed ban but all good sense protested otherwise. After all, hadn't we just gone tearing through the place with the abandon of a starving, unruly child in the proverbial candy shop? Our shopping cart seemed to magically load itself with inexpensive, lovely things the budget decorator just dreams about. A white linen shower curtain with twisty black trim that perfectly matches my newly painted red bathroom? How abut a pink suede duvet for 15 bucks? Set of solid yet reasonably priced wineglasses (4 for $8)? Interesting lamps and paintings? An antique-style clock for $15? A hatbox for odds and ends storage in your bathroom, or any other room? Comes in three sizes, with the largest one being 12 bucks. Patterned boxes and candles of every color, shape and size? For every item we put in our cart, we reluctantly put two or 3 back on the shelf. For the decorator on a budget, I can think of no better place than Homegoods. VERY dangerous store! You take your home decorating fantasies to an entirely new level in this store. I found some fabulous coffee there. Wedgewood dishes, a perfect new pot for cooking, playmobile toys for Christmas, books, closet sachets, christmas gifts for my mom and dad, daughter, friends. Visited a few HomeGoods stores but this one is just average as the one in Fairfax is cleaner and more organized than this one. I thought Kingstowne one might be better since most stores are around and newer area, but I was wrong. The parking spots are huge so finding one isn't a problem during weekend or rush hours. The staffs here are very nice though and very helpful on finding the things I need. I remembered one time I brought an items to return but the sale associate gave me back what i returned but took away the items I bought. Came back two hours later, a different sale associate and the manager were extremely helpful on finding the item for me. They didn't give up until it was found. Very good customer service. read more

Just got back from my first visit to Homegoods following the Post's article on where to find discount furnishings, etc., in the DC area. I've slowly been working on furnishing and decorating my apartment on a small budget (it's been a year and I'm nowhere near done), so I'm always on the lookout for new places to buy pretty/funky/cool stuff for my pad on the cheap. Today's mission was to find bedside tables and lamps. My style is eclectic, though I lean towards more streamlined warm-modern with a bit of whimsy and some French revival thrown in for kicks. Homegoods was an interesting store. They have a section each for bath products and accoutrements, bedding, kids stuff, fake plants, home accents, lamps, basket storage, picture frames, kitchenware and accessories and furniture. Most of what was on the floor was definitely not to my taste. There was quite a bit of "country home" style business going on; you know, roosters and chickens and fake copper patina and gingham and quotes on a board and so forth. However, the furniture selection was interesting, the bedding steeply discounted and the selection throughout the store was vast--not always great, but there was a lot of stuff that was worth picking through. This is definitely one of those places that you should go to prepared to hunt for the good stuff. I spent about 3 hours there today and came away with a suitable pair of end tables (they'll need to be repainted as I think they came off a showroom floor and are a bit dinged up and, ew, they're purposefully "shabby chic" anyway), 2 cute lamps with "meh" lampshades (again, those can be replaced), a storage basket for the top of my fridge, 2 queen sheet sets at 500+ threadcount each , some linen spray and a funny cat statue thing to put next to my fireplace. Total cost, including tax, was about $280--which is GREAT as far as I'm concerned. I would have bought more too, the kitchen section has La Creuset stuff up the wazoo, but I was trying to keep myself reigned in. 3 stars. I'll definitely be back, especially to check out the furniture selection and drool over the cookware, but only when I'm in the mood to get my "hunt and gather" on. read more

Homegoods pretty much rules. I've just moved to the area, and I have gone to Homegoods three times already. In case you didn't know, Homegoods is run by the TJ Maxx people, with their promises of quality, name brand goods at reasonable prices. I wouldn't say their furniture items are super high quality - you won't be finding a lot of real hard wood furniture here without veneers, and a lot of the clearance furniture has scratches on it. However, the prices for small home goods and linens can't be beat - we got a lamp shade for twelve bucks, a king size sheet set for fifty bucks (and it's that fancy 600 thread count Egyptian cotton business, and has held up beautifully after a washing, and feels lovely against the skin ...), a Ralph Lauren cushy mattress pad for thirty five and lots of little kitschy stuff for four or five bucks (a picture of cherry tomatoes, hand wash, bottles and bowls and ceramic chickens). I'll also add that it's a great place to spend a lazy Sunday walking around - there's so much random stuff. Highly recommended. read more

I am a Home Goods enthusiast. If you have an interior decorators eye, you could hook up your home in no time. I've visited all Home Goods in Northern Virginia and several in Maryland so let me tell you, the VA locations have it going on! I always see different pieces to add character or give my place more texture and dimension. While I don't need and haven't needed anything new for some time now, I sometimes have to stop myself from purchasing furniture or items but in the end, it's all worth it. My place is cozy and nicely decorated thanks to Home Goods and all of my other stores. I'll be building my new home soon and these same pieces will be ushered right into it. Oh and they always have cute knick knacks of all sorts... I love it. read more

I went shopping for a shower curtain and the one I liked was in an open package. It did not even have a price tag. I took it to the customer service desk for a price check and after waiting a long time she came back and said it's $19.95. (I'm thinking it was a return item) I asked for a discount and the woman looked at me like I was crazy and said "it still a shower curtain and there is no discount!" This store has some fantastic finds if you shop often and early. In the past, we've found the perfect holiday ornaments for a fraction of what you'd pay at Target or Pier1 or other retail stores. I've also gotten some exotic chocolate and random (but delicious) snacks at their food section. I love checking out this place for home decor, snacks, cooking ingredients, cooking wares, and inexpensive (but nice) accent furniture. On the downside, it's slim pickings after major post-holiday sales and the arrangements/ placement of the items tend to look cluttered and chaotic. read more

Home Goods is one of my favorite places. I have recommended them to almost everyone I know. I love the layout ( the isles could be a little wider) I have been shopping with them for years. I love the selection, the color variety and how you can get ideas from just looking at one item. I will say that I have noticed that the sheet selection has changed over the years. Today while in the store I overheard a manager speaking really nasty and demeaning to an employee in the front of the store and it disturbed me to point of leaving. I am unsure if she was a manager and I overheard someone call her Ashley but she looked unkept and she was loud and obnoxious. This is the last thing I wanted to encounter after a hard days work. I along with my mother usually shop at homegoods either at the Beacon Mall location or this Kingstowne location. My experience today at this location was horrible. I shopped at the Beacon mall location first & picked up curtains, with other things, but unfortunately they only had 2 panels. The cashier there was very helpful and told me to check them out at the Kingstowne location. Since I opened the Tjxrewards card, I received 10% discount. she told me that since we didn't have more of the curtains that I needed & if I find them at the Kingstowne location I should ask the manager on duty there and he/she can honor the 10% off coupon and give you the discounted price. So I went there, found the curtains I needed & went ahead to pay and told the cashier there the whole story. She went to ask the manager, ERIC about the 10% discount. He didn't honor it and told me, in a very rude manner that he can't and won't honor the new tjx reward 10% discount. I still made my purchase and went back to the Beacon Mall HOmegoods and fortunately the same cashier was still on duty. She saw me and I told her what had happened. She was surprised that during the holiday season they didn't honor the 10% discount. she called the manager on duty there, GINGER, & the manager within a split second told her to return the curtains & re-ring the purchase with the 10% discount. I really appreciated their gesture and the courtesy. The manager herself was quite surprised at this. At the end, Its not about the 10%, it was more about the way to deal with your customers with respect and courtesy to keep bringing them back to shop. The good deals you find in Home Goods are more in the small home goods and linens area as the other reviewer said. They have a lot of very attractive furniture, but the good ones are still on the expensive side and most of the pieces have chips and scratches on them. I got some beautiful curtains, a whole set of towels and a shower curtain and spent around $45. Not too shabby. Their children's section is great-- complete with decor, beddings and toys for kids. I definitely love browsing in this store and could spend hours there. read more
