There turned out to be many benefits to working with this family own business. We made a decision to buy an HVAC home system from them late on a Friday afternoon. Monday morning at 8 AM a team was at the house ready to go! How was that for service? Tyler Clark was on site for three days installing and carting away the old system, installing the new system and calibrating with added amenities. Another Tyler and Maxime and others came and went as needed. We also had them clean all the heat/air ducts and the dryer vent of the 22-year-old home we recently purchased. I bought a full new system 7 years ago From this company. They did all new duct work, new Furnace and heat pump. I signed up for the yearly maintenance and changed filters twice a year. 5 years and problems started. said I needed new condenser. Replaced that and then more problems and they kept blaming it on an electrical problem. Had a very reputable electrician come out and they said all was good, it was a heat pump issue. This went back and fourth a couple times. On a maintenance visit said my ducts needed cleaning. Like a fool I said ok and had them done. The guy who came out to do it said when he was done that they were not bad at all. Then recently air kept shutting off on the hot days. They came out and said compressor was shot and it would be better to just get a new system, even though compressor was under warranty. They are just salesman. New system never worked as good as previous and my electrical bill never went down as they said it would since new system would be so much more efficient. Feel I have been ripped off by this company. Going with another company who is replacing the compressor and not telling me I need to get a new one. I am already so much happier! read more

Biggest rip off. Quoted $606 to switch out a $3 fuse before being able to "diagnose" the a/c unit and quote on remaining repair. This is after charging a $107 diagnostic fee. We declined the fuse replacement and changed them out ourselves in less than 3 minutes, no different then switching out a battery in a remote. Of course that wasn't the core issue with our a/c though. So essentially ripped us off even for the diagnostic fee since no accurate one was provided. The annual maintenance plans are $399 and cover 2 visits (scheduled at the companies convenience) and don't cover any parts or labor. So at 199/visit that's even a bigger rip off. Stay away and contact central Oregon heating and cooling instead. They actually provide you with a service for their fees. read more

It was a big job, and the way my home is designed presented a lot of unique challenges when removing the old system and installing and configuring the new system. Family run business. Owner and his two sons work for the company. Called to make an appointment and spoke to one son on the phone. Very abrupt, pushy, rude and he gave me a poor attitude. He sent who was his brother out to the house. Do they not have anyone else they can send to my home? Anyways. the same result in person. rude, disrespectful, pushy and he also had a bad attitude. Got angry, when I asked questions, he seemed like he was very disorganized. Called to speak to the owner and I did email him directly. Have not got a response. Why would he, it's about his two sons. he doesn't want to hear about it. I'd be willing to bet they are just like their Dad the owner. Following in his footsteps. Obviously he didn't teach his sons any manners, give them any communication and customer service training. Just gave them a job they didn't earn, so they could do anything they want to do and talk to people however they wanted. They both obviously are spoiled rotten, never worked a job outside of daddy's business and never been disaplined a day in their life. This is prime example of why family run businesses can be the worst. If it were my kids, I'd fire them both for these sorts of things and never rehire them back. I had wanted to use this company based on their Google Reviews. They offer multiple different services, which is a premium and the better employed staff, named in the reviews are not the sons. Do not use this company... We purchased a heat pump system from Home Heating and Cooling back in 2017. They initially installed the system incorrectly. For the first 2 months or so our system ran on auxiliary "emergency" heat which inevitably cost us more money in energy costs. When we realized this was the case my wife was able to talk them into free maintenance checks for a predetermined time. Although making them agree to this was not easy. Any reputable company should have owned up to their mistakes and made it right. This was a big inconvenience & increased cost due to their negligence in their install. We had maintenance on our unit every year except 2022. Fast forward 6 1/2 years and our heat pump goes out. We call for a check of our system, they were quick to respond. The technician arrived and I informed him of the situation. He spent approximately 40-45 minutes "diagnosing" the issue and then another 45 minutes sitting in his van in the driveway. This was all documented on our camera. After 45-50 minutes and no knock on the door I decided to approach the technician to see what he had found. As I met him at the van he opened the door and asked "am I keeping you?" I said no you are not I would just like to know what you found with the system. He then proceeded to tell me that the entire system was shot. It all needed renovated. I was shocked, as the entire system was only 6 1/2 years old. When I attempted to find out the exact issue he was vague in saying that one component went out which caused others to fail. Never did I get an exact answer of here's what's wrong. Nor did he ever venture to the back yard to check the compressor unit. I noticed this from my video and the tech even told me he didn't look at it. I found it amazing he could diagnose a complete failure of the system without investigating the entire unit. Lucky me he did already have a diagram of price points of COMPLETE renovations of the system. I was shocked when the first "Platinum" renovation was $6,741. Keep in mind we paid just over $7,000 for the entire installation of the system just 6 1/2 years ago. The options went from platinum of $6,741, to gold, silver, bronze and then "band aid" at $3,371. The technician tried to make me feel better by informing me that the parts were covered by warranty. "Go ahead and subtract $843 from any of the options." As the technician informed me of the unfortunate news, I was in shock. How could a renovation of a $7,000, 6 1/2 year old system cost me $6,741 for the "Platinum" deal? Whatever the "platinum" deal is? I asked the tech isn't 6 1/2 years old for a system a little premature for needing a complete renovation? He agreed, but said well these things happen. Never once was a "we will make this right." On the bright side he did try to up sale me into multiple options for "new" systems. I've never seen price options like this for repairs of anything. Where was the "make the system operational" price point. Since it was only 6 1/2 years old and the parts were warranted? So according to my math to get my system operational again LABOR would be $5,898 for the "Platinum Deal" to $2528 for the "band aid" deal. Which by the way had only a 30 day warranty. I'm a hard working veteran and current first responder and I could not afford these options. And fortunately I knew enough I was being taken for a ride, at least attempted to be taken advantage of. I called two different contractors and when I told them the situation, the company I was dealing with and the price I was quoted, both laughed out loud over the phone. If this isn't a sign that you are being taken advantage of I'm not sure what is. When I said $6,741 to be "renovated" he said shocked "that is 10 days of labor for me!" Within 2 hours of talking to another HVAC tech he had responded and diagnosed the system as needing a: NEW FILTER, THERMOSTAT & SAFETY EZ TRAP SAFETY SENSOR. The next day the system was repaired, parts and labor was $440.00. The system has been working great since. After hearing my story the tech informed me this is why went into the residential HVAC industry. He was tired and saddened by seeing people being taking advantage of by companies like Home Heating and Cooling. He saved me $6,301!!! I can now put this towards my kids college education vs. a greedy & unethical company like Home Heating and Cooling. Companies like this will pray on huge contracts hoping to take advantage of people that are either naive, rich or out of options. I strongly suggest to never use this company. I noticed the owner Ric has responded to most reviews here. Ric don't bother, lose our number. We don't care about voiding the parts warranty. If a contractor won't tell you how much they're charging you for labor, you're probably paying too much. I've been using Home Heating & Cooling for 6+ years, but I will not use them in the future. After two recent repairs by Home Heating & Cooling within 10 days, I called their office and asked for a breakdown of the cost for parts and labor. I was told by someone in the office that the owners do not allow them to tell clients the cost of the parts. The first job cost $2200. After researching online, I found the parts likely cost between $150-300. This means the labor (1-1.25hrs) was $1900-2050. The second job cost $832. The online price for the parts range from $15-75. This means the labor (30-45 mins) was $750-800. Both jobs were initiated after-hours (~6pm), but I don't think these rates are reasonable under any circumstances. The next time my furnace needs service I will use a different company. read more

Ric came to my home to identify why my heat pump wasn't turning on. He wouldn't look at it and offered me a $271 service call to evaluate my home and a $1800 offer to rebuild my furnace and cut a hole in my garage ceiling and hallway upstairs. But worst of all Ric had shown me a picture he said was of my dirty, and blocked up heat exchanger that should be shiny aluminum. I looked at it myself the next day, and to my surprise, it was as shiny as a new nickel. Ric lied about many things that he would do for me and my home!!! Don't ever trust this man. I have sense heard from other neighbors and friends, stories that Ric had done them wrong. Warning!!!! 2/22/2019 In response to Ric's comments, my service call request had nothing to do with air handler needs or ducting inspections. These were fine. I clearly stated that the heat pump was not turning on and needed that resolved. If he was now skilled in this, then send a tech that is. Further more, I did not call him after his visit for 2 reasons. First is because I do not owe him an explanation for feel that his visit was 100% self serving and second, that Ric is a headstrong man that would not hear my concerns as constructive criticism. We have never been happy with the York electric furnace HHC installed in our home. It take hours to raise the temp only 10 degrees. I finally did some searching, and found that the unit they put in is only 36000 BTU ( 3 ton) while our home requires a 60000 BTU (5 ton). Kicking myself for waiting so long. It was found that when the home was built 15 years ago, building debris was swept into several of the ducts. We had them come back a few days later to do a complete cleaning. I called Home heating for a gas furnace that was not operating. They were great to respond the same day. My furnace is 23 years old and has never given me a problem, but decided to start acting up. Johnathan was the technician that responded to the service call. He obviously doesn't like dealing with customers and I question his knowledge of the furnace. After a few minutes, he diagnosed the problem to be two-fold, the Control board and air movement components. I was told the furnace has out-lived it's life time and needs replacement, but a repair is possible. He gave me 3 price options for the repair. I selected the second from the highest/costly repair option of $2235. I have a home warranty, but the company does not work with home warranty companies, as they try to get the contractor to lower the price. (I get that they are a pain to work with!). I was paying for on-site Home Heating and only going to receive a reimbursement option that I have available, but the technician is still required to explain the problem with the warranty company. Johnathan, as directed by his management, refused to talk to the warranty company. He also refused to give me a parts and labor breakdown of what needed to be done. The warranty company requires this information. I was working with Jim, who fields the calls for Home Heating & Cooling and HE WAS AWESOME!!! He was trying to work with me and the requirements of the warranty company and requested me to call back at 7:15am the next morning when the technician, Johnathan was available, with the home warranty company on the line to answer the questions about the problem with the unit. Right off the bat, he informed the warranty representative he had two minutes, as directed by the owner, Ric. The representative said it would take more time that that and he responded he didn't have time. I was also on the line and encouraged Johnathan to answer the questions and move forward. When asked for the model of the unit, he said he didn't know. When the rep asked about what parts needed replacement, he wouldn't give the part information out (as per his owner, Ric). When asked if the filters were clean, plugged, or overall condition, he stated they were clogged (THE FILTERS WERE NEW TWO WEEKS AGO!!! HE NEVER EVEN LOOKED AT THE FILTERS! I WAS THERE DURING THE ENTIRE ASSESSMENT!). We completed the questions when the rep said he would put us on hold for approval. Jonathon hung up. I'm sure he had appointments to go to, but its demeanor was very unprofessional. After a minute, the rep came back and wanted to ask another question, but Johnathan was not available. I requested the list of questions they still needed and called Jim back at Home Heating (Jim gets a 5-Star rating!) and explained the warranty company had more questions. He forwarded me to the company owner, Ric, for a call back. Ric called me back, and in a nutshell, refused to breakdown the parts information and labor amounts to do the repair. I question the reasoning behind this policy? Are they not being honest and fair with their pricing? I told him that I was unable to do business with his company and we parted ways. He was kind to refund (actually they hadn't run my VISA yet) my $89 charge for diagnostics. So, now I have a house with no heat and need to find a company to do the repair that was more professional and willing to work with me in my situation. Mt. View Heating was called and they responded within 2 hours of my call. Kasey was the tech and he diagnosed the problem in minutes, cleaned off the igniter bar and the unit was up and running. He was more than willing to explain the problem to the home warranty company and the problem was totally resolved. Cost-$288! One tenth of the cost of the repair estimate from Home Heating. It became obvious that Home Heating tech, Johnathan, was just throwing parts at an old furnace and not actually diagnosing the problem. He said all the components were original and worn out. I felt like we were "putting him out," by requesting the repair option over a new furnace. Sad that local businesses can be this way. I shared with the owner, Ric and Jim, the unprofessionalism of the tech, Johnathan, and I was told "he can be like that." Why would you continue to employ someone that is not a reputable technician. He seemed like he hated his job and was cheating the customers! Don't use Home Heating if you are looking for a quality, fair and customer service-oriented business. read more

We had a horrible experience with this company. We had obtained 3 estimates to have some ductwork and vents put in our downstairs room, and even though they were the most expensive, we ended up choosing these guys because Neil who came out to provide the estimate seemed to be pretty knowledgeable and thorough. Neil provided us with a drawing and explanation of the work to be done which we agreed upon. When Jason came to install it, I confirmed my understanding that the supply line was to run along the top wall along the ceiling of our laundry room and he agreed. When the techs let us know they were done and left I went down to inspect the work and was horrified to see that the ducting, which was HUGE, had been run right through the middle of the laundry room, underneath the light making the room dark. I immediately called Neil and sent him a photo telling him it was not at all what he showed us it would look like. He agreed and said he'd send them immediately out to fix it. They didn't return until the following week; after rescheduling once on us and trying to bail a second time, they showed up to re-route the ducting in the laundry room. Meanwhile, pushing our next project (drywall), which we had already scheduled out. When Jason, the tech came back he told us that the work could not be done the way that Neil had explained. When asked why, he became clearly annoyed by having to explain to a layman the reason it could not be done. When asked why we were not notified that he was going to change the plan he simply shrugged and said he didn't know. We then called and communicated to Neil that we would have never agreed to have the work done if we'd known it was going to come out the way it had and he responded by yelling about the time already spent on the job, threatening to have all of the stuff ripped out and not charging us for the work, and he hung up on us. We responded by having them do just that. So after a month of going through getting bids, having the work done, waiting for inspection, etc. we are back to square one, only now have 2 new holes to patch in our walls. They also left the insulation around our unit torn open and did not tape it back up, so we have to go buy the stuff to fix that. I understand that the tech guys know what they're doing, but if the job could not be done the way it was explained, you don't just change it without talking with the home owners first. If someone hires you to paint their house brown, you don't just paint it yellow without asking them. The communication between Neil and the techs was clearly not effective and Neil's communication at the end was the most unprofessional experience we have ever had with any company EVER. We are still in shock over how this all ended. read more

I called Home Heating and Cooling on my neighbor's recommendation, and had them come out to do a really small job (hook up my kitchen hood). I also had them do a check up on my furnace while they were here. It was very inexpensive for the quality of work! Riley, the manager, came out and custom fit a piece for my weird internet-purchased kitchen hood (under $100 for a job that took at least an hour), and then did a very thorough inspection of my furnace (comparable price to everyone else in town). The part I appreciated the most was that he took time to explain and educate me on the care of my furnace, why the pressure reading was so important, and what I could do to fix it (it was super high). I ended up making an appointment to clean my ducts about 3 weeks later. We had gone through an extensive remodel and I'm pretty sure they hadn't been cleaned since the building of the home in 1992. The technicians, Ashlin and Benjamin, were really friendly and efficient, respectful of my home and my pets, and Ashlin in particular went above and beyond. She took time to crawl under my house and make sure everything was in proper working order, and did a quick fix on a duct that had some insulation showing. If you've ever been in a crawl space, you know it's not a fun job! They arrived on time, finished before the estimated time and cleaned up after themselves. Ashlin also took lots of pictures to show me what came out of the ducts (lots of dirt and even some nails and plastic bits!) and what it looked like under my house. I am so very appreciative and impressed by Home Heating and Cooling and their staff! I will definitely use them in the future and would confidently recommend them to anyone. read more

Measured particles in air from returns and discussed options for Humidification. We had them put in humidifier upgraded filter and cleaned ducts. 0% financing is great. Work was done by guys I would like to hang out with. Very nice to have around. Also signed up for semi annual inspections. Less cost than outfit I was using. About duct cleaning. Our house is near new but ducts were dirty from construction process. You may have noticed it is really dusty in Bend New filter has reduced dust on furniture so also in lungs. Service technician came in and said he was going to do everything possible to get a 5-star review. He replaced the filters and did the checkup for the agreed price. To his credit he spent time with us explaining why our furnace was continually cycling. However, he employed high pressure sales tactics to try to get us to buy a premium refurbishing package with a 2-year guarantee for $2400. The minimum price the technician quoted to fix the problem was $1500, but he very clearly did not want us to choose that option. He said two other times during the explanation of what he had done that he wanted a 5-star review. We had AccuAir diagnose and fix the problem for under $500. read more

Subsequently, he called to reschedule a day later saying that he wanted to have his senior tech look at the system instead of the tech he had assigned.
