First of all, I am an interior designer for over 32 years. For my more budget projects, I've been shopping HomeGoods in various location in Los Angeles. I have always found the staff, friendly and helpful. A year ago, I decided to move to Palm Desert and and continued my Residential Interior Design here. I've been to the store a few times. I am not sure what is happening at this location, "Palm Desert CA " , but the staff looks extremely unhappy. specifically one gentleman who calls himself the store manager but he is not. I have seen him picking fights with different clients almost every time I go there. I have tried to strike a friendly note with him, trying to calm him down. At one occasion, out loud, he was telling a client that his job is what people call "choose wisely" at the beginning of ones career. Once he was staring down at a client to a point where the lady started yelling " Are you staring me down? may I talk to your manager?" With a great attitude, he responded, "you are talking to him." Long story short, last time I was there I was doing heavy shopping for a 85 year-old woman. Nothing big knickknacks and kitchen items and Home Staples. I was doing a small project for her here at the desert. she has various ailments and I had to be careful choosing the right products for her, which is light enough and easy to operate. Thus it took me over two hours in the store to do selection of various items.. I think that had raised a red flag with the staff. I was treated so poorly there. I had over five workers approaching me and asking " can we help you with something? it seems you've been here for a long time . Every time I would respond, yes I am buying for a client. I need to make the right selections for to clients situation. Sorry this takes time. I do understand store security is important and shrinkage is a problem, but not everybody is a thief . I do believe I dress up nicely and present present not like a bum, so not sure what the issue was ? At the end, yes, the same man approached me aggressively with the same question. May we hrlp you? You have been here for a long time . I broke out in anger, saying "is there a problem sir? " I'm buying over $800 worth of products here. Nevertheless, I was followed by him until I went to the checkpoint and paid for the products and left the building. Funny enough, he knows me from previous purchases from him, which always has been over five to $600. I tried to make a complaint to their head offices. I got a email saying that my concern has been sent to the store manager Jennifer Martinez and she will get back with me shortly . This was a month ago and no one did. again, it's a pity. I love the store and most probably I will be shopping at their other locations, but this one definitely has some major staff issues . I will not be returning there. The customer service in this particular store is Terrible. I have been treated disrespectfully in 2 instances: firstly, last Friday evening, by a young employee; secondly, this afternoon, when a more senior employee misunderstood my attempt to polite conversation and said " Who don't like it here, can go", meaning if I don't agree with certain people ideas of how things are done, I Should Leave California!!!!! WOW!!!! Terrible Customer Service!!!! Staff Need Retraining and Video Recording!!!!! No matter if a customer is a guest or local, such behavior is unacceptable. The only staff member who understands and applies appropriate customer service is shift manager Jennifer. Also, the store has bad wi-fi connection, so I couldn't access my TJMaxx Synchrony credit card, when staff asked me to scan the QR code present at each cashier's station. Martha Flores (cashier) was very helpful and we always love shopping this location. This time, though, there were two associates who were walking around the store talking to each other. They bumped into my wife and almost knocked her over. No apology, no acknowledgement, not even an, "Excuse me." What a poorly run store... I have been inside of the store numerous times and each time the quality of my shopping experience has been subpar at best. The managers are clueless, there's never enough employees, the registers are always understaffed, every employee seems miserable that they have to be there including the managers, the list just goes on and on. One of my personal key issues here is the constant need to rearrange the store for whatever reason... the whole thing seems to be an enigma to not only me, but the employees as well. Any attempts to go into the store to get something specific is fruitless because all of a sudden the the section you need goes from the front of the store to the very back corner and then to the middle of the store all in the span of a month, and the employee seem to have no information on this at all. You'll ask them where you can find something and they'll take you to where a certain section used to be and suddenly realize it's not there anymore and then just leave you to find it on your own. The only time I have ever felt like somebody made an attempt to help was when I was assisted by an employee named Michael a few months ago who proceeded to take me to where the section used to be before realizing that it wasn't there anymore and then committing himself to not only helping me find where the section had gone but helping me find the specific items that I was looking for. Something should also be said about the fact that this place is a dump. There is absolutely zero organization to any of the shelves here and it seems like people just stuff as much as they can onto them with no regard for what goes where or any sort of presentation. read more

It's time for a rating. We were in the store around 545 on the 28th of May. 3 people behind the counter, 1 checking and 2 standing around talking while we were in line. The guy was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans talking to a young lady. He appeared to be a manager who kept looking, but not one time did he ask us to step forward so we could pay for our items. As you know, stores are closing all around us, making it easier to find better employees. Roll the cameras back and check out the video. Maybe he is comfortable enough to dare you to fire him. Just had the worst experience in Home Goods in Palm Desert. I was returning orange tea which tasted and smelled like tobacco. I had the most obnoxious sales person ROBERT who claimed to be the manager. I owned many stores and would fire this person immediately. I tried to explain that it was a misrepresentation of the product and he would not except return with a sales slip and I said I will put this on line and social media as to his callousness . Worst service. I needed to do a return because towels I purchased started changing color after a week of using them so I had put them in a bag for returning them. The manager was rude and said they looked washed and had animal hair on it but they are shower towels so of course they got wet... and I have animals so obviously that would happen. I just wanted to exchange them out for other towels and he would not make an exception due to it being one day over the 30 day return. However I went to my original purchase location on Bermuda dunes and I he manager said we eat more understanding and kind. I would definitely rate this home good location ( Palm Desert negative 0 One of the manager name Robin he was a complete ass hole and the associate Name Karen was really a Karen. Her name definitely matches her personality I have bought a rug that was on clearance $68 . The rug was white and it had an opaque gray pink peach vein pattern running through when I bought it back for return the manager sad he won't take it back because it had a gray stain. His additue was sky high He just sad the associat No acceptable and he left. Whitout even say sorry can't take it back or anything like that. I'm standing there Trying to explain " Karen" can you guys at List open the rug completely and see the vein patter it has. She's like he already sad No. I'm like to my self bitch open the rug and see. She like stop arguing. Which I was not. So back and forth trying to convince them to open the rug flat . Fantastic customer service!! I bought a huge and heavy outdoor fountain from this location. Chris, Robbie and a couple other guys helped load the fountain in my truck. This store has an amazing selection. I drive one hour out of my way to shop here. Now the bad. I had a poor experience on March 11, 2018. I arrived at the store at 7:30 pm. It closes at 8 pm. The store manager, Mary Pruitt, does not know how to run this location to maximize sales and offer great customer satisfaction. Here is what happened: 1. Every 5 minutes, beginning at 7:40 pm, she announced how many minutes later the store will be closed. Is that really necessary? It makes for a rushed shopping experience. Most other locations will let you know, in a friendly tone ten minutes before closing. I felt very rushed with these constant reminders. 2. When I did take my purchases to the cashier, Mary looked puzzled and asked out loud, "It's after 8 pm. We're closed. Do we have a cashier still open?". There was one cashier still open. I looked at my phone. It was 7:59 pm. I had to almost beg them to scan my items to check out. The cashier chimed in, "We're open tomorrow morning if you'd like to shop." Ms. Pruitt created a work atmosphere where they are not interested in helping out the needs of the customer. Other HomeGoods that I have been to we're happy to help us check out 3. Oh, the kicker? It's when the cashier asked me, "Do you speak English?". As in, "You dumb Asian, did you not know the store closes at 8 pm? Didn't you hear all the announcements?". 4. To add to the experience, as I was walking out the store, Ms. Pruitt and her associate snickered and never did apologize. No apology that is until I called her the next day asking for her district manager's phone number (Michael Robinson). I didn't accept her cheap apology. I came in last night (01/07/23) and I had a little over $100 of stuff I was going to buy. I had a few questions on my items since I was buying numerous clearance items and sometimes the prices can be different. The older woman who was a cashier acted immediately annoyed by my questions and there was nobody else in line. She was extremely rude and short and tried to just rush me out of the store. This store is horrible!!!!! I did what we all do. You go there to get an item and wander the aisles picking up other items you want as you slowly make your way to the register. When I tried to purchase my 5 items with my gift card I was told their system is broken and they haven't been able to accept gift cards for 3 days. Really?!?!!? Because there was no signage when I entered the store telling me this. There was no one telling customers when they entered the store. I wouldn't have shopped knowing I couldn't use my gift card. Home Goods is a nice shop to go to for wedding gifts, and items to gift yourself. Check out their clearance aisles for reduces price, end of season goodies. I would rate 5 stars, but for one flaw. The ladies room needed a cleaning. Toilet paper on the floor, and in the toilet. A roll of paper towels at the sink that was wet from people washing hands rather than being placed inside the dispenser. Water ok the floor. I'm a stickler for clean. read more

While I was paying for the items she had me bag my own stuff and she's just looking at me while doing It. I have found some pretty good gems at this location... they always have a ton of new things but that's my issue.... they have so many merchandise you can hardly walk peacefully through these aisle without bumping into someone..... I found many items I had in my cart to buy got up to the counter and the lady told me my decorative towel was not for sale. I said "but there's a price tag on it" she told me that it was a recall and she wasn't allowed to sell it to me. I have no idea how a decorative towel would do me any harm. The store is losing money by sending it back to the company when it was a perfectly good cute towel that I is ready to purchase. I don't really understand this. I left very sad. Love this store and the staff is super friendly. What they carry is always shifting and I love that. It's a bit of a hunt as you never know what you'll find. This store usually has a good variety of merchandise. However the staff seems pretty uninterested in helping their customers. One employee was blocking my way with her cart but didnt offer to move out of the way. Just chose to stay right where she was. One cashier's light was on but no cashier there. Another cashier finished helping someone check out, clearly saw me standing and waiting to make a purchase but chose to leave her station anyway leaving me still waiting. ( Without a word such as "someone will be right with you which would have been the 2nd best thing to do if she wasn't going to help me.) So sad when people who are in the service industry obviously care so little about actually being of service. Just going through the motions and collecting a paycheck. My wife and I have been shopping at home goods for about 2 years now. We've asked to put Rae Dunn items on hold before, and have always been told no; which is fine. But I saw a Rae dunn canister in a cart full of items one of the employees were putting away. I asked her if I could have it since she was putting all the items out on shelves. She snapped at me and said it's already sold. Than my wife came up to her about 5 minutes later and asked about it as it was still in her cart of items she was putting on the shelf. She told my wife it was on hold for a friend. Than put an empty box on top of it. The older ladies in that store give it a bad name. Another time I saw a employee putting Rae Dunn pieces in the towel section to hid them for later. I hope the lady working here tonight gets fired. read more

I LOVE HOME GOODS. They have so many cute necessary and unnecessary things. Since it's late August, they're bringing out all the autumn / Halloweeny stuff - the store smells like spices and pumpkin spice. Definitely brings out everyone's inner basic bitch. Gets you in the mood to whip out your ugg boots and head to the nearest coffee shop to get a pumpkin spice latte. They also have tons of cute office supplies like planners and pretty staplers. I love their baking section, I got a really nice Madeline pan from there like years ago and I get most of my baking supplies from there. But they always have tons of great smelling candles besides the basic autumn bitch smelling ones. Omg. Like during Christmas - it's amazing. Candles that smell like trees and whatever else Christmas smells like. They also have really cute stuff for pets, containers for pet food, pet treats, poop bags, shampoos, toys and etc. Home Goods is just like a target - great place to spend your money on things you never knew you needed or wanted. read more

The staff is friendly and helpful, and if what you bought doesn't work out, they will gladly refund it in good condition. Prices here were better than expected. I've gone twice to this store in the past 5 days and both times I had such a bad and disappointing experience. I work two jobs and everything is always closed by the time I get out. On Saturday the 16th by a miracle I got out of work early and managed to get there 15 minutes before closing to return an ottoman my husband purchased that didn't match our room. I was parked right outside he entrance struggling to get it out of my car for 10 minutes and an older lady with short gray hair wearing a blue shirt saw me twice while I was outside. By the time I managed to get it on a cart and was walking towards the entrance she came to the door and told me I couldn't go inside because "we close in 5 minutes." I told her I was just going to return the ottoman I wasn't interested in looking at anything and she said no you can't come in. So I went back to my car and struggled to put the ottoman back inside my car. Today the 20th I went in 45 minutes before closing. I went in for one thing and searched the whole store and no one was there to help me. That was fine I guess. The. 15 minutes before closing a lady goes on the intercom saying "we close in 15 minutes. Bring your stuff to the register so we can go home." I see these two employees walk by and I asked where I could find what I was looking for and she was really nice and pointed me to the direction. I found what I was looking and walked to the registers 5 minutes before closing. I was standing waiting to be called to the register for a few minutes while the employees were at register talking to each other. Then the male employee dims the lights and leaves the register and they finally noticed I was standing there and he said he couldn't let me pay "sorry we're closed. There's nothing I can do" I was super confused at that point. I had been waiting to be called to the register and now I couldn't buy anything because they were in a hurry to leave and didn't see that there was still a customer in line. I left to my car and decided to go back to get the man's name. When he opened the door he had the things I was going to purchase and wanted to give them to me. I told him no because at this point I don't want anything from Home Goods anymore. I didn't even get his name because I felt bad after that gesture. It was super upsetting. I hardly ever have time to go to the store. I drove 15 minutes to go there because I loved Home Goods and all that happened, twice in less than a week. I would give the store 5 stars, had great prices and a huge variety from Pet supplies , house hold items, children's toys and I absolutely love the Christmas Decorations. The reason this store gets 1 Star , This was my first time In a Home Goods store . My brother brought me here when I came to visit. 11/3/18 Approximately 8:00 pm . Seth who is a worker was very rude. I was looking at the blankets and he pushed his way between my cart and the rack, shoving my cart in to she shelf's on the other side of me. He never said excuse me or anything. I just looked at him. My brother and I were looking at things towards the back of the store about 20/30 min later and again Seth pushed his way past me. This time pushing against my body and almost took my backpack style purse right off my back. This time I made a remark. He just looked at me and kept going. Again not saying excuse me, I'm sorry or anything. He really needs to learn some manners.
