I get to the store to retrieve my item and the associate slipped up by stating that two of the same items came in this morning. She even asked a gentleman colleague about the items. She goes to the back and here comes the manager.... The manager states that the order was actually for someone else.. a gentleman... MY ORDER THAT I RECEIVED EMAIL NOTIFICATION THAT IT WAS READY FOR PICK UP AT 8:18 THIS MORNING... when I questioned her about what the previous associate commented of having received two of the same, she then changed her story and said that the gentleman's order was received earlier in the week... the order in reference was not something that I received email earlier in the week. It was something that I received today at 8:18 AM. So already stories were twisting. It wouldn't be so bad had stories been all the same but they were different and I do believe the first associate as I received the email... 2 n 2 put together made sense there. She then said it was to had to came in but didn't.... Now going down another rabbit hole of a lie. The manager stated that they do not scan in orders. I can understand that but when they receive any order, it is their responsibility to check it in. If something is missing on the invoice they will be held accountable. I know how this works, I choose them in the industry.!!! Only options per manager was to get on chat to see what was going on which again.... What's going on is my PAID item was sold to another guest for whatever reason! Or... refund me. Obviously I chose the refund. There is no reason to be made a fool twice at this location. It's the fact that I was expected to just accept anything being told. When math ain't mathin' it's time to call bull!

Night & day difference for the non-existant customer service I encountered at the Oak Lawn Home Depot a few weeks ago where they will actually go run & hide if a customer is requesting help! I get to Austin Hardware: I walk in the office area and they send me to the warehouse area. As I walk in the door, I see signs that say, "No walk-ups." "If you don't have an order, please dial 8100 and talk to a salesperson and tell them you are at the Dallas warehouse." Of course, I called the number and got a "fast busy" and finally a guy came and said he was going to get a salesperson to help me. So Tom comes out and says, "can I help you?" I tell him, "I have a step van with a tilt hood and I need the buckle that holds down the hood." *Tom's looking at me as if he's not understanding me at all.* "It's a Chevy P30 with a tilt hood?" *Still looking at me as if I'm talking a foreign language.* me: "Okay, so it's a 1996...." Tom: "I don't know what you're talking about. What do you need?" I finally figure out that this place sells just the hardware. They don't know what the hardware goes on, so of course he doesn't know what buckle goes on which car, he just knows the buckles. Me: "I have a van that has a broken buckle, it's rubber and it looks kinda like these" *pointing to a picture on the wall. Tom: "hmm.. let me bring out the catalog and you can look at those." *off he goes* He comes back and starts flipping through.. Me: "Oh, I have a picture of the buckle..." *fumbling with my iphone* Tom: "Oh, that's a (such and such) series. Let me see if we have one." *off he goes again* comes back again "the nearest one is in Elkhart, Indiana. We can have it shipped down here but it will be a couple days. Me: "Can I have it shipped to me directly?" Tom: "Sure, I just need your address and a form of payment." *off he goes once more and comes back with a receipt and we're all done. The whole experience was difficult but mainly because I didn't know what to expect but luckily, I had a picture of the part I needed and Tom knew exactly what that part was. Thanks Austin Hardware!

My purchasing agent has been trying to contact Tom all day to get a simple answer about locks he…read moreordered. He was told they'd be here no later than 4/19. It's 4/23 and not only are the locks not here, but Tom has lost his ability to answer a phone, return a call, and the hardest task of all, reply to an email. Because Tom couldn't handle the difficult task of answering, we didn't have time to re-schedule our installers. Now all of our lockers are going to site to be installed without locks and we'll have to re-schedule our installers to make another trip to the jobsite to install the locks if they ever get here. If you like being lied to, ignored, and having costs added to your project, by all means shop here.

Prices are a bit higher than at the big box stores, but not so much that it really matters. The cashiers are always friendly and talkative. The store just has a friendly vibe. Best of all, the kid likes to go with me so she can play with the chickens. That feature compensates for higher prices right there. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that the last few times I have been there, the price for an item at the cash register is higher than the shelf price. It is usually only a $1 difference or so, but it is annoying. You think you are getting one price but it turns out it is different. They need to coordinate shelf prices with prices in their database. Other than that, I am a big fan of Rooster and will continue to buy stuff here.
