Horrible service!!!!!! I tried to returned an unopened cooler with out a receipt yet proof of purchase on my phone. They denied my proof of purchase and said that I must have a receipt.. store credit was offered.. but when I checked the return amount it was $80 less than what I paid on the original purchase date.. I have been there three times. First to take advantage of the grand opening sales. Second to get some more of something that I picked up the first time. And third - WHICH IS MY LAST TIME AT THE LOCATION - was today. I went there to return something that I had ordered online that was not the correct size. While there, I saw the clerk and a manager argue with a customer about an exchange of an item that he purchased the day before. Although it was an exchange, they didn't want to let him use the $5.00 coupon that he had used to purchase the original item and wanted him to pay more. IT WAS AN EXCHANGE!!! After the line had built up and his persistent explaining, they final did. Then, while that was happening, another customer came in to inquire about a check that she had written a few weeks ago for a purchase had never cleared her bank. The clerk called spoke into a radio and inquired. That went back and forth for a while. It was conveyed to the lady that form the clerk from the person on the other side of the radio that "if she wanted to be honest, she could write another check". OMGosh!!!! That was offensive no matter who you are. The lady came in to inquire. The nice lady said that she would write another check but was concerned that the old check was floating around with her info. A "manager/owner" came out to talk with her and was so short with her. He again went with the be honest statement. She said that's why she came in of her on initiative and just didn't want an open check floating around. She offered to write another check but asked that Ace cover the $20 stop payment that she was going to be charged. The "manager/owner" continued to argue and degrade. He told her that it wouldn't clear and that if it did it would be fraud, etc. I don't know how this ended. When I left, he was talking with her in the parking lot!!! Back to my experience. I arrived before both of these. Again, I went there to return something that I had ordered online that was not the correct size. The clerk spoke to a Crystal on the radio and the went back and forth. At first I was told they don't carry them. I let her know that I had asked on my first visit about this specifically of Crystal who told me they will have them in the fall. So, being fall, I was there for the return. The net was, I was not able to return it. Walmart does, Home Depot does. Lowes does. Not Ace in Seagoville. p.s. My first receipt charged my 10% sales tax. Do not buy a lawn mower here unless you're okay with buying a broken one. We purchased a Toro mower, it was already assembled, got home and started to mow and realized that the self propel function was broken. Not only that but once then it off, we couldn't get it started again (10 pulls and nothing). I called this Ace location since we live 30 minutes away, and said that the mower we just purchased was broken and we want a return. I sat on hold going back and forth with the manager for over 20 minutes. She was not helpful and simply suggested me calling the warranty... um... it was broken off your shelf! We had just purchased 2 hours prior, and she was not budging. I was sitting on hold over the phone, when we arrived at the store. I asked for a copy of the return policy, because she was not going to allow us to return or exchange... the manager handed me a copy of the Operations Manual (the Managers rule book), which stated no where that she couldn't return or exchange... in fact it gave instructions for what they are to do with a returned Toro mower! We got there, got the mower out... and the manager and buzzed the guy that had originally helped us purchase the mower come look at it... and sure enough he said "yeah this one is messed up, but I think we can fix it" and I said "absolutely not, you're admitting that it was broken at the time of purchase. I don't want a rigged up mower, I want to exchange it for that one on the shelf." That's when the manager gave me a copy of HER rule book and said "here's this since you wanted a copy, we normally don't do this but I'll make an exception" and allowed the cashier to use her overwrite to exchange the mower. The manager never apologized or anything. Very very poor customer service skills. We purchased here thinking that we'd have a great experience, but will never ever be returning. Who wants to drop $400, get home realize you have a broken item, then argue with the manager even though she knew it was broken?? Horrible. read more
