Beware: They use a lot of scratch, nick, and ding cover up on the furniture they sell. And I must say they do a fine job of it. However, after you have the piece in your home for a while the "coverup stuff" comes off as you clean and dust. It is only then that you see whether or not you really got such a good bargain. I drove from my office in downtown San Jose to the Campbell Home Consignment Center store. I was hoping to purchase an entertainment center or at least a table to accommodate my 42" flat screen and the cable box and DVD player. I initially walked through the store casually looking around. As I completed my tour, I saw 3 men sitting on the side of the store eating lunch. I interrupted their lunch and asked a question which they politely answered and I was directed to the front of the store for assistance. As I approached the front counter, I saw one lady on her cell phone behind the desk, and two women at a register talking and laughing. There was one customer ahead of me who was eventually assisted by the woman on the cell phone. I stood nearby the customer and sales clerk for more than 10 minutes while the two women at the registered continued to talk and laugh. Not once did the 3 sales clerks acknowledge me. I felt I was being ignored so I began making my way to the exit. Prior to reaching the exit, I heard a customer tell the clerks at the front counter that I had been waiting a long time and was now leaving. The two women who had been laughing called to me to come back so they could help me. I told them that they had ignored me for more than 10 minutes and that I would go somewhere else to spend my money. I further added that "good customer service goes a long way, and it was not at the Home Consignment Center." What's is disappointing is that I have been a customer of Home Consignment Center throughout California for more than 8 years and have never encountered anything like this. This experience has left a lasting impression on me and I will never revisit the Campbell store. I don't know what the problem was today, but no customer should tolerate being ignored when they are square in front of a store clerk. People work too hard to earn their money and when they spend it, they should be treated with respect and fairly. By the way, Ethan Allen got my money today and I was treated with with "First Class customer service." I purchase a beautiful entertainment center and a dining room set. read more

It's really fun to walk through here every couple months just to see what they have. We got a brand-new looking leather sofa and a solid wood coffee table and had them delivered for only $75 total. This place is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for furniture or home decor. read more

I have had a very good experience in consigning with Jessica. She came out, reviewed the things that I had to consign, and we agreed on getting the over to the shop. Everything went very smoothly. I have bought jewelry from Victoria at the Consignment store too and really enjoy going there to look at all of the baubles regularly. In contrast to another reviewer, I would say that the prices are relatively low. For example, I had couches that I paid $4000 that are on sale for $699 there. Those couches are Bernhardt, about 8 years old and rarely used. They are literally in mint condition. I can't imagine anyone thinking that's not a deal! read more

Rude and cranky employees. Not bargin priced at all. I saw many used items WAAY over priced. I found a wall plaque that I was interested in. There were a bunch of these same type of plaques scattered around the store. There were several different subjects. But they were NEW items still packed in a container. Not used on consignment. And I thought they were slightly over priced. But I found one I liked. I politely asked the lady since there were several of the exact same items in the store, if that price was negotiable. They would negotiate when I bought items at the El Paseo Store several years ago. She rudely snapped "NO, ... we sell it for what it's marked." Since I wanted it I went ahead and bought it. The total price with tax was $25.04. I handed her two twenties and reached in my pocket for change. I wanted to avoid 96 cents in coins in my pocket. I had three pennies in my pocket. No more. So as I handed her the pennies, I said how about $25.03? Is that OK? She quickly handed the pennies back, almost slapping them in my hand and smart mouthed said, "NO, ... we have to account for every penny." There isn't a decent merchant anywhere who wouldn't let a penny or two slide to please a customer. Most places even have penny trays at the cashiers station NOT here This was ONE cent!! Obviously It's not the one cent that I cared about. But the rude impolite attitude I can do without. Maybe this is a different management style than El Paseo. I bought several items from that store before they closed. But No bargains at this store. And rude smart mouthed employees to boot. I'll probably never return to that store. read more

I am IMPRESSED! When my wife and I decided to sell our furniture, we called the Home Consignment Center. I cannot believe the professionalism, attentiveness and efficiency of the staff. Very poor customer service, prices so unrealistic. They sell a lot of new pieces and up the price way high. I was going to purchase a table and chairs until a friend said look on the internet and you can buy it brand new as well and pay half the price. She was right found it for $999 with free delivery. The consignment place was selling for $1800 as well as scratches! And of course no delivery. Also the custumer sevice women are so snippy. read more

I have taken a large quantity of Jewelry that i don't use anymore and the Home Consignment Center has sold a great deal of it. Once it's sold a check just arrives in the mail. It's so easy to make an appointment to review your jewelry and it's all done professionally, so you can see each line item and the price that was assigned. Everyone there is very friendly and aspires to ensure you get a fair amount for your unused jewelry. I also bought a couch there and the price was so reasonable and they have the help to load your car or arrange for dellivery. read more

This is the place where quality high-end used stuffs looks for new owner. If your eyes hurts when you see "garage-sale quality" items, this is the place for you. Clean and bright store. Most important to me, there is no weird or disgusting "old stuff being stacked up for years" smell as I enter the building, because their items turn around so quickly. read more

Stef and I love this place. It's that sweet spot between ghetto fabulous and Pottery Barn. In other words, most of us. It's nice furniture that's had a previous life (sort of like your partner) that's in great shape. We've picked up a few pieces for our home there. The prices are usually haggleable and the staff is great. $700 for the same funky sectional that I'd pay $3000 for at La-Z-Boy without the greasy salesman? It's all win! read more

Even though I see a number of negative comments, I am a positive one! I have never had a negative experience at this store. The staff is always pleasant and answers my questions. I do not find any rude behavior at all. They have a pretty good selection of merchandise, which of course changes on a regular basis and their jewelry selection is fantastic! I've been buying and selling items at the Home Consignment Store for several years. Recently they underwent new management and I love this place even more now! I regularly visit the Campbell and Mt. View sites. I have consigned both furniture and jewelry and have been very happy with the results both the short time it took to sell and how easy it is! I've also made purchases which still adorn my home. I get many compliments on the items I've purchased including an opal, garnet ring which is a conversation piece at gatherings. I LOVE this place!! I always shopped at the Home Consignment when it was in El Paseo and now that they have moved to Campbell, I LOVE the new store even better! Its bigger, has lots of windows, therefore more light. I can see even the little items much better. I have consigned here and everything about the process was as advertised and on my contract. They priced the items fairly, split the sale with me 50/50 and I got a check within 30 days of it selling. The checks go out automatically. They explained that they don't call when items sell, but I am free to call at any time to find out the status of my things. They carry new items as well as used items and the inventory seems to change daily. Its like a treasure hunt. If I can't find what I am looking for, I know to come back in a few days and check again. The people there are always ready to help with suggestions too. Most of my home has been furnished from this store and I would never buy retail again. I am a home consignor for life. read more

Such an amazing place! I discovered Home Consignment Center (home and jewelry) in 2006 and have done business with them as seller and/or buyer dozens of times since. I've always had a great experience. Each visit is like a new adventure because the inventory is constantly changing. Some of my favorite pieces and best deals once graced their sales floor. Advice: If you see something you like, ask them to put it on hold. I learned this the hard way one day when I returned the very next afternoon to purchase a stunning "solid wood" armoire I had seen, and, poof, discovered it sold shortly after I left the previous day. Jessica, Veronica and staff are professional, knowledgeable, personable and over-the-top helpful. Recently I had a need to consign some furniture, so I reached out to the Home Consignment Center in Campbell. I spoke to Dakini and Jessica. Both of these ladies spent a good deal of time, both assisting me in sending pictures, and explaining how the process works. I was extremely pleased and I often feel customer service does not exist. I was wrong !! I was pleasantly surprised ! I would give these two ladies 10 stars, if that was a possibility. I had furniture from Los Gatos Porch and Ethan Allen that I needed to sell. I called and asked if I could bring in and was told that they needed a photo sent via email only and at least 48 hours to approve. I said that I had a van for the day and asked if I could send pic via an iPhone. Evidently, that was to future forward for the incrediably unaccomadating woman on the phone. They have rules that apparently are inflexible and put the customer last that are important to follow. What a joke. My furniture is nicer than 98% of the kitchy crap they have on the floor. I wont even stop by to visit anymore! read more

I've been here many times and it seems the quality is lower each time. It's not really a consignment store any more. There were so many new items of low quality like fake black leather sofas, cheaply made sofas and bunches if other stuff. Maybe it's a good place for jewelry since pawn shops are out of fashion. I would say maybe 10% of what's in the store is worthwhile. read more

Sellers beware. I have sold twice here and suffered quintessential bait and switch on an agreed upon and co signed sale price only to get a phone call two days later informing me that "the manager doesn't believe we can sell at the agreed upon price we agreed upon WHEN I CAME TO YOUR HOME, INSPECTED AND AGREED ON A PRICE!" And the delta was not a few dollars it was almost $600! Craigslist is still the best way to sell used furniture. When I called back the manager would never return my call. only the original agent. It's a shame because had they quoted a lower number originally when the "professional" inspector came to my home i would have opted to post on Craigslist and made more money. I don't have the means or time to haul big furniture back and forth from my house to the store. What a sham. read more

What actually bothered me the most was not the inflated prices, but the attitudes of the sales people. Not one person greeted me or asked what I was looking for and there were at least 5 ladies 'working,' but actually having a nice chat. Be very careful before consigning your belongings. If you choose to do so with this company, keep a record of names and contacts, estimates, pricing - all through the process. Get a card from everyone you talk to. Make notes of everything they say. We were previewed by someone, items were picked up by moving men and then half of the items were returned by the moving men after someone else decided against our items at the store. Bottom line? You're going to get taken and loose precious money and time and be left with a headache and a searing disappointment in your fellowman. Unfortunately, I learned the hard way. read more

I've visited this store twice and each time I've been very disappointed and somewhat stunned at their lack of customer service. Yesterday, I waited at the counter for five minutes while several employees were talking with each other right in front of me. They saw me standing there but made no effort to engage me. When one finally approached me she asked me what I wanted. How about, "Welcome to Home Consignment! How can I help you? I am such a big fan of this place, I live in Richmond but have no problem going the extra miles to get there. The prices are amazing for what you get and the customer service is incredible, they are so helpful, understanding and attentive. I was amazed at how professional Nan was when I had an oops moment after purchasing it I realized it wasn't going to work, she quickly eased my stress by saying " No problem we want you to be happy" and took it back with a store credit, plus I walked out of there with two beautiful lamps that I just love. Wow! I consigned a piece of furniture here ( fireplace mantle ) and all seemed well. I went in today and did not see it so I went to the desk to ask if it had sold and the poor sales girl was puzzled. She said it still shows available in the system but let me ask the manager. She soon returned and as I watched her try to get the manager to come talk to me, I almost felt sorry for her because she was getting nowhere with this new manager. I guess the manager let someone take it on a TEST DRIVE but no paperwork was found on it. I have taken items on test drives myself and always have to leave credit card info. when you do so. Is this person special or related to the manager? The manager told the sales girl that she gave this unknown customer a couple extra days on the test drive. I have been in this store several times the past month and I never see this manager and now that she is finally there she will not come out of the backroom to address this with me. This store is going downhill. I will never bring anything else here. Big surprise, I called back today and the manager was already gone. Third time this week, wow, she has really nice hours getting there after 11am and leaving at 3pm. Poor employees................ read more
