If I could give this place 0 stars I would! So I had several items of furniture that I wanted to sell. Scheduled the person to come out and take a look. She was very interested in the fossil stone top coffee table from John Williams and a lamp and end table. The rattan futon she didn't really want to take even though it had never been slept on, used as a couch, and cost almost $2,000. Finally said she would take it. Had a very expensive Century sofa, almost $3K new. Said it looked a little dated because of how large it was but would definitely take it. My husband was pulling it out from the wall and she said that wasn't necessary. Took about a week to get the quote back for what they thought they could sell for, arranged for the movers to pick up, and we were on our way. Had all the stuff ready to go for the movers, and they were in and out of here in about 20 minutes. Got a call the next day from the Consignment Center to say that the back of the couch was faded and they couldn't take it. Odd since it's always been up against a wall. See above that my husband had offered to let her look at the back. We would need to pick it up that day, or they would put it on the donation truck the next morning. Well, it was around noon, both my husband and I were at work, and we don't have access to a truck. We were told that we would be mailed a donation receipt. Which we NEVER got. I wonder if it was actually donated or if it's sitting in someone else's house right now.... So I get a check from them. Unclear from the amount what was sold and for what amount. So I call and all they want to talk about is reducing the price on the remaining items that have been there over 30 days. The coffee table was $2800 new, they were listing for $499 and after 30 something days want to reduce the price to $199. What???? She said they will have to call back with details on the check. When I get a call back, there is a deduction for an hour and a half of moving and other "miscellaneous charges". She points out that the agreement says that they can deduct credit card fees, check verification fees, and the like. Although they can't tell me exactly what the reductions were. I say there is no way it took an hour and a half. They were only here twenty minutes and I live 15 minutes at most from the store. I tell her how unhappy I am about the sofa and how that was handled. I end up getting a refund for a half hour moving. I tell them they can reduce the sales price on the items according to the agreement. And oh - the item that sold - the futon that she really didn't want to take. So a couple more items sell. More miscellaneous charges that no one can explain. Then I get a call to discuss my remaining items. I call back the next day. Say who I am. The guy on the phone looks up my name, finds me and asks why I am calling. I say I was asked to call back. He says he'll have to find out who called. I tell him the name and he says why did she call. I said I told you, she just said to call back. He says I don't know why you are sounding upset and I said in a slightly raised voice, I have had a very bad experience with the store from the beginning and I am very unhappy. And he HANGS UP on me!!!!! 5 or 10 minutes later I get a call back from someone else at the store, and she says she is calling to discuss the status of my items. I said you know the last guy hung up on me right? She says yes, he said you were yelling at him. I said I didn't yell at him, my voice is actually louder with you because I am so angry. She says, well, you know, kids these days. REALLY!? So basically now they want to sell the furniture for next to nothing $150 for the coffee table, or we can "donate" it again. To recap - avoid this place like the plague. You will get more in the long run by having a donation truck come pick the stuff up and get a tax write off. It is inexcusable that they don't stand by their initial evaluation of the products. What was the point of coming out to look at the furniture if the moment they received it they said they couldn't sell it. Unless of course they donated to an employee. And they can't explain the deduction from my check other than to say they are "miscellaneous"? And then employees hang up on you and they all think that's ok? read more

I would never recommend anyone every make a purchase at this place. When the sale is made nothing can change it, regardless of the circumstances. They do not do trades, store credits, exchanges or refunds regardless of what they say. read more

I had a great shopping experience here. The staff were very helpful and polite, and do not work on commission. They explained the pricing system on the consignments and tried to help me find what I needed at a nearby store. I ended up walking out with two new chairs from dealer overstock, each priced $160 below (online) retail price. read more

I am so happy I found this place. I go in on a treasure hunt on almost a weekly basis (they receive new stuff every week). The staff is SO personable, I am on a first name basis with them. Probably one of my favorite services the store offers is their wishlist. Have something you're searching for, tell one of the staff members what you're looking for, give a name, and phone number, and they will keep an eye out and call you when what you're looking for shows up! I recommend this store to everyone I know that is trying to furnish, decorate, or update their house. I feel like I've furnished and decorated the majority of my house with items from this store at a fraction of the price that I would have paid buying new elsewhere. I was selling my home and then planned to sell most of my furniture upon closing, but only knew of Craig's list at the time. Luckily, the photographer who took my home's pictures for the MLS mentioned taking my furniture to Home Consignment Center. Since I never had anything on consignment before, I decided to visit the store first. Boy, was I surprised over the size of the store, and the vastness and variety of pieces on consignment. I was immediately assured upon speaking to the manager, Tracy Harris, and her staff that they have the background to handle selling my pieces for my optimal return. The process is SUPER EASY: one of the nicest sales staff comes out to YOUR PLACE and previews the pieces for selection and pricing. Upon agreement, a moving company contracted by the store [for cheaper rates] will be scheduled to pick up the pieces to deliver to the store. You don't even have to pay up front for the delivery to the store from your home; the money is deducted from your first sale. All this is very accommodating, with no hassles. I have since then had 18 pieces delivered to the store; there were a couple of high-end pieces and others were standard modern bedroom set, bookcases, etc. In just a couple of weeks I have already had 6 pieces sold. One of my high-end pieces was barely on the showroom floor for a day before it was snatched away, and I was totally happy over the price I'd received from its sale. I also have to restrain myself from turning right around and spending my profit back into the store since there are so many good finds. If you are thinking of redecorating or have pieces of furniture, artwork, or home décor you want to sell, you MUST call HCC!! You will not be sorry. You'll get a nice little profit and the staff act more like friends that you'd drop by to chitchat with. read more

I went in looking for a particular piece of furniture for my office. I found a piece that I liked, but it was part of a 4 piece set. I asked if they would consider negotiating for the whole set. The young man was put off by my request and came back to say that the items had only been in inventory for 6 days and there was no discount available. I left because of the less than friendly reception. I returned to the store with the hopes of speaking to someone else and hopefully getting a better result. I spoke to another employee and he offered to help, but acknowledged that the manager was the one who could help. He wanted to give her the information before she visited with me. After a few minutes of waiting, he came back with a similar answer. I asked him if they would at least consider selling the $1946 worth of furniture for $1900. I thought it was a reasonable offer. The employee went back to ask. The original (unfriendly) employee came back to tell me there would be no discount and promptly turned around and walked off. I just reviewed their consignment agreement to find that they make 50%, PLUS have the right to reduce the cost by 20%. I am not sure why they took such a hard line with me. Maybe they are hoping for full price over the weekend. I was taught, one in the hand is worth two in the bush. I am sure they will sell the furniture, I am disappointed that they were more about the $$$ vs. gaining a customer. read more

I love a bargain and I usually don't mind picking through things to find that hidden gem of a deal, but this store needs some serious help with organization and merchandising. It is so crammed full of stuff you can't get any perspective, there are itme stacked on top of wood tables, metal art on sofas leaving marks, dust everywhere and the worst of it is not the sales help but the manager. WHAT A BITCH! I was there with a friend who asked about some specific brand of furniture and it seemed to be quite a request for the manager to get out of her office and come to answer the question. EXCUSE US for wanting help. WTF? I mean isn't it your job to help customers lady? And then on top of that- we were there for quite a while, she was rude to other customers ane yelling at her staff where anyone in the store could hear her. THis is not the shopping experience I was looking for and will choose to find my bargains when that biaaaaaaaatch isn't there. YUK! Get a life lady and learn to treat people with respect! We had several nice pieces of furniture to sell before we moved out of the country. The pricing was definitely more in the HCS favor; but it did help us to be able to move the items we were not able to bring with us to South America. Tracy came out to my house and looked an the items we wanted to consign. She was great and helpful and priced the items fairly. She set up movers to come and pick our stuff up, they were great and within about 45 days all of my furniture - except one item has been sold and I have received checks. There is a chance you may make more money selling online but it's not safe and you may not make as much as you think you will. I've had a great experience with Home Consignment and would recommend them to anyone! read more

"I have been on the selling side of Home Consignment. They have been so very easy to work with. Though our home was a bit out of their radius, after they saw pix of what we had, they sent one of their professional previewers to look at the items we wanted to sell and within very little time we had a list of items and prices that they expected to charge. As we have moved, we have come up with more items that were not on the original preview but they were always ready to give them a look, give us a price and get them on the floor. It was amazing to us at how fast they did get our items out and how well they were displayed. I had thrown in a couple of extra pillows with the sofa we were selling and they used them to show the sofa very attractively. We have sold large and small items and quite quickly. We like the idea that they price the items to sell, unlike many consignment stores who price high and then follow that with several hefty discounts. Everyone we have worked with has been more than accommodating. We are very happy that we consigned with Home Consignment at the Shops at Arbor Walk. DO NOT SHOP HERE. I bought patio furniture and realized after I got home that it would not work. Even though I had not picked it up I could not return it. When I finally did go to pick it up - they did not have the furniture and would not refund my money. They said that someone picked it up but had no signed paperwork. Now I am in a dispute with them because I still have the charge on my credit card, they can't find the furniture and will not refund my money. Dealing with them has been a horrible experience. They actually deserve a big zero stars. read more

Do NOT shop at Home Consignment Center. My husband & I went in there today. We found a piece for behind our couch that was marked for $129. After we measured it, we asked them to put it on hold for us. I wanted to make sure that it would fit before we bought it. About 5-10 minutes after we left the store, I received a phone call from them. I was then told that the piece wasn't supposed to be on the sale floor and that it wasn't for sale. About 10 minutes later after we left the store we were in (right next door) we went back in Home Consignment Center. Not only was the piece still on the sales floor, they had raised the price of it by $900. Please let everyone you know about how this store operates. Most of their prices are equivalent to buying new. read more

I am soooo disappointed with my purchase. Why shop here with a sales final clause when other stores have great sales and allow returns for faulty merchandise? I bought an upscale patio umbrella with a wide swing. We just put it together new, from the box and it is perilously unstable with the slight breeze that is blowing, and the joints are under stress when pulling the unit up and down. The connection points are cheap plastic and even the bolts are inadequate in size. When putting the unit together we saw how cheap the connection points are which were immediately put under stress. It's hard to move the umbrella up and stablize it and then release the unit after use. It was a complete waste of the $250 which is an expensive enough unit given it should be marked way down from original sales price. I phoned the store immediately but was given the all sales final clause by the manager Kristen who finally called me back. She did offer more weights which I will accept but that is not going to help with the other stress points which could cause the unit to snap and crash into the window. She says they sell 100's of them, yet she is unable to return my money even though I just purchased the item and just assembled it. If this was from another seller I would understand the policy if another person was selling their household items, but a not on a new item they are selling. This was my first purchase from them and my last. I would be very wary of purchasing from a store like this now. read more
