The customer service here has gone completely down hill!!! The receptionist here Ann is about the only person with good service and she's not even a service provider. I've been going here years but not anymore after today. Stopped going to Kev because he did my nails they chipped same day he wanted to charge me $20 to fix it next day as if I didn't just come pay and tip him $20 the day before that's wild af no customer service at all!!! Today was my f up I missed my 10am stuck at a doctors appointment they rescheduled me to 1 (Ann having good service) I got there at 12:54 got put in the water for my feet at 1:14 And sat there while the lady started a new set of nails. While it was disappointing, I very much appreciated them being upfront about what they could and could not do with my nails so that I would still be happy about it in the end since I wanted to keep my nails short. So I settled on getting just plain dip powder color and I loved the outcome! She was very nice and thorough. I don't get enjoyment out of leaving bad reviews. This place is decently close to where I live and it's nice that they are willing to accept walk-in appts. However, there was only one person that was working there yesterday that seemed to speak and fully understand the English language. I saw the work he did on two other ladies nails and it's really great quality. However, I did not have him working on my nails and the full set I was getting took longer than 2 hours. I think I had to rush or stop the guy that was doing my nails because I was going to be late for work. Also, he hurt me a number of times. I had an appointment at noon. It's 12:44 and I'm still being asked to wait another 10 minutes. Strange, with COVID and all... The place is plastered with "social distancing" signs, and yes, there are sneeze guards between guests. You also must wash your hands before you enter; however, a client told me, not the shop owners/operators. I think after all this time I would like an honest appointment time, like, "please come at 1:30 or even 3PM" whatever. Everyone has time issues and constraints now, especially in dealing with appointment times. It's not a restaurant wherein the employees are so minimized that basic fast service is almost impossible. It's an actual appointment. Just call me and let me know you're behind. That would be amazing customer service. I am still waiting.... It's almost 1PM. No update. No "thank you for waiting" and no service. I'm not sure it's quite time to travel out and get our nails done yet. My last pedi/mani was in February 2020. Right before my birthday, and right before California was shut down. Maybe I was better to stay home and continue "au natural" living... Sat in chair for feet at 1:08. Freezing cold water. Love my nails! I've heard about this place a few times when I've asked others where they got their nails done and finally got around to going here. I wanted to get a nice design for my new set for my birthday and after reading the reviews I booked an appointment. Also, I do suggest calling ahead of time to make an appointment because this place is busy so it's best to make one if you really want to get your nails done at a certain time. I got my nails done by John and he was quick and did a great job! I was just able to show him a photo of what I wanted and he was able to do it easily. Very unpleased with this place now. I got my nails done by Kevin a full set which was rushed to do within 30 minutes. Then less than a week by pinky broke off, so i went back to re fix it! He didn't take his time and just added the acrylic powder on top of what was there which now makes my nail look fat and ugly! The color doesn't even match. I've tried so SO many nail salons all over the Bay Area because I know exactly what I want from my nail tech, & no one has came anywhere near what I want compared to John & Hollywood nails. They've never EVER disappointed me. When I call Annabelle is always very helpful in finding me an appointment within a day or so of when I contact them. I really appreciate that, as I don't want to have to wait a week after I call. John is a fast worker & is highly skilled. I've frequented Hollywood Nails off and on for the past 5 years. Recently, I've noticed that the quality and the service here have both gone way downhill. When I first started coming here, I would get my nails done by Alvin who is just a super beast when it comes to doing nail designs. I was way more bold when it came to my nails back then compared to now. Alvin would always do an awesome job for me, especially during the holiday seasons. I would let him create random works of art on my nails and they would always come out looking flawless. He has since left, but his wife Tammy is also really good, and I eventually shifted over to her. Fast forward to now, and things have completely changed. Tammy did my nails for a while, but then she started pushing me off onto Kevin about 2 years ago. I wasn't happy about it at first, but then I got to know him and he became everyone's go to nail man. I usually get the most basic gel acrylic that they have, and my man Kevin would just whip it out like clockwork! Since I work about an hour away, I am usually only able to make it after work during the weekdays or on the weekends. Usually, the only time that I can make it during the week would be around 5:45 to 6:00 pm. They don't close until 7 and I know it's pushing it a bit, but Kevin was always able to assist me. Recently, I had tried to come in on a Tuesday evening around 6:00 and I got turned away. I can understand this being the case sometimes. It looked like they were swamped that evening, and Kevin was the only one available. However, the next time that I came in, Kevin rushed me and did the worst job that he had ever done. It's like he didn't even care about being precise. All he cared about that day was getting more clients in his chair. It left a bad taste in my mouth, so I didn't return back for a few months. I decided to try them out again, and this time Tammy did my nails. I was so appalled... she was so sloppy and wasn't even putting in her best efforts! She failed to paint my nails completely, didn't put the acrylic all the way down to the cuticle, and there were bumps and uneven parts in the polish. To top it off, they decided to inform me after the fact that they had increased their prices. Look, I understand the economy is rough, and I'm all for supporting the growth of local businesses. However, why would I shell out more money for a sh*tty job and mediocre customer service? It just doesn't make any sense. At this point, I have no plans on returning back here in the future. I will continue to hunt for a better nail salon. read more

I decided to give Kevin a chance, because I had heard great things. This was an even worse experience, Atleast John was kind, patient. I asked for a 5:30 appointment, he said no, 5pm. So I asked to leave work early to make it on time. Was there at 4:50, waited over an hour, patiently. I respectfully asked if I still had to pay full price or if I could get my deposit back since I waited over an hour, with no communication, left work early for this, and he decided it was appropriate to get loud with me, embarrass me in front of an audience then ask me to leave for KINDLY WAITING and wasting my time, then asked other customers to chime in. If I could give 0 stars I would, this was my third time here, my first 2 experiences were amazing, I've had Kevin and John prior, love them both. So today my friend and I made appointments for 2 pm. She was helped shortly after her scheduled time, but i had to wait over an hour before my technician started me. I had Katie, DO NOT GO TO HER EVER! When I was finally helped, she didn't ask me what I wanted, NOTHING, she started to do a basic white tip fill. I had to stop her and tell her what i wanted. The colors I showed her are NOTHING like the colors she put on me she kept slipping with her dremmel and multiple times scraped my fingers with it. Then once I'm done I ask for a discount because I had to wait over an hour, they refused and still charged 50$ for a FILL! Once I leave and really examine my nails I see that one of them is COMPLETELY CROOKED! I will continue to see John or Kevin, but never again will that woman touch my nails. I was referred to go to Kevin by a friend so I messed him on instagram for an appointment before Valentine's Day! I was so excited. He requires a 20$ deposit which is fine I know people flake all the time. The nails I wanted are medium length with French tips with heart design. I will put below. I showed him and he said he got it no problem, but my nails weren't the same shape as the picture and extremely sharp on the sides. I ignored it because they're still cute just a little choppy. Wish I could give a negative star rating. After one day my gel manicure, with added chrome (+$15) was peeling off almost every nail. Even the polish underneath not just the chrome. I came In to get it fixed. They sat me in a chair without saying anything. After 30 minutes I asked when i was going to be helped. They were taking walk ins over me. I asked for a refund and they refused. This place is also very dirty. Nail dust is everywhere covering the chairs, countertops, etc. the water also was luke warm and the the massage was very lacking. I was in the area and decided to try this place out and I was so disappointed. When I walked in, the staff were not very nice. That's fine, it's the holidays I know they are busy. But what I was very frustrated with was my manicure. I got a gel manicure with chrome. As soon as I got home the chrome was rubbing off. As the days went on it kept on getting worse. It already looked terrible by the end of the first day. Then, my nails kept on breaking. By day 2 my nails were ripping off and the day after that half of one of my nails fell off. My nails are very strong so I'm not exactly sure why. The person who did my nails did not do enough layers but I never said anything. The chrome keeps on rubbing off , but the color underneath is fine. This manicure took 2 hours and was $55 for gel. I also had no idea it would be this much. I am very disappointed in my nails and regret coming here. I could have gotten a much better manicure for MUCH MUCH cheaper elsewhere. read more

About a week ago I would have given rave reviews! My sister and I have been going to Kevin for years... Again let me state years. Recently, they have implemented a policy where you have to send $20 to secure your appointment. Very out of the ordinary but OK is what it is. Today the salon reached out to me because they couldn't get in touch with my sisters asking me to have my sister call them to see if she could make a 10 o'clock appointment. I reached out to her she said that's not a problem but she had a strict timeframe. She showed up and Kevin was about 25 minutes behind schedule with about 15 more to go with his client in the chair. My sister waited, and then ultimately said I have to leave due to a meeting. When she said this Kevin looked at her and said fine but you lose her $20 . We all know it's policy that if you are late you forgot your appointment- but if they are late you still have to forfeit your money?? Interesting... not just that they we're extremely rude to her because she had to leave to make a meeting for work? After years of going they couldn't roll over and honor her apoitment even when Kevin WAS LATE! Not her!!
