Long, wide, clean, sand beaches are usually the way all descriptions of Paradise begin. Hollywood beach is all of those things. From the strip of beautiful beachfront homes, to the cleanly combed sand, there is a lot of space at this beach. The fore shore has a wide dry beach and wet beach area. When you walk from the street to the shoreline, there is plenty of real estate to pitch a tent and claim your area for the day. The wet beach has a gradual slope, and is wide. Which allows for great runs along the wash. Public restrooms are near for the basic necessities. You also can make your way to the marina for food and drinks, as well as additional restrooms. For the grown folks, you can walk down to the Infamous Rudder Room. Regardless of where you decide to plant your flag, you'll enjoy your time at Hollywood Beach. Love Hollywood Beach . Not busy and you see some people fishing here . Not sure if it's a great fishing spot. Sunsets are gorgeous and serene :) I prefer Oxnard Beach but do walk this beach here and there for a change of scenery. I parked at the Channel Islands Harbor and walked as I wanted to walk a bit longer. Safe walk as you are well away from vehicles and the trail I took. read more

Beautiful quiet beach. I now wish we went here instead of the Oxnard beach from the day before. You will have to park around the residential homes and then walk out to the beach. It's surrounded by beautiful beach homes and the lifeguard tower #4. There is a lot of driftwood on the beach from the recent hurricane that passed through CA but it wasn't too bad. read more

The best part about this beach? NOT as crowded as the other beaches along the coast! Funny when I first used Yelp to search for beaches in Oxnard, this one didn't even come up! But we were lucky enough to stumble across it when we visited the Channel Island Harbor on a holiday weekend. Most other beaches from LA to Ventura were full of people but somehow this one was nice and quiet! Sands were nice and soft - lighter in hue... you can almost call it white. And water was blue - they say oceans are turning green so cherish the day when you can still see blue! read more

10/07/2023: Great and quiet beach. We stumbled across this beach. We were across the street at the Channel Island Harbor strolling along the path. I noticed homes across the street were being renovated. I got curious and crossed the street and didn't realize this beach was just on the other side. It's a long walk to get to the water and there are no shade. Nice for a morning stroll. It was overcast with fog and very windy when we were here. Lots of driftwood along the shores. Non the less, the sound of the ocean waves is always relaxing. read more

Hollywood Beach - Beaches Near Me

Secluded beaches are my love language, and Hollywood Beach definitely speaks volumes when it comes to this. Despite its' name, Hollywood Beach is nowhere near Hollywood (and thank goodness for that!). It's tucked away behind a quiet residential neighborhood in Oxnard. I can only imagine what it would feel like to wake up to this breathtaking beach in my backyard every morning. Lucky for me, I got to relax on this peaceful beach for a few hours before making the drive back home. That was enough for me to fall in love with it. This is that quintessential white sand, white wave, and low tide beach that we've all come to enjoy and love. It's relaxing, relatively peaceful, and the water feels so amazing. Getting here isn't very difficult, but it is quite a walk through the sand to get to the water. But on the upside of that, there's LOTS of leisurely space to practically do whatever your little heart desires on the sand. Social distancing is super easy at Hollywood Beach. Parking also really isn't an issue since this beach isn't super busy and is right behind a residential neighborhood. It's also a long beach that stretches for what seems like miles with several different access points. There are clean restrooms on site, but it's kind of a journey to get there. And the beach is actually swimmable! Coming from the Bay, you don't see too much of this with our beaches unfortunately. The water isn't freezing cold either. Your body will warm up to it fast and it feels good in the beautiful Southern California weather. This is the perfect spot to lay out and nap or to enjoy a nice little beach picnic. The smaller crowds are what make Hollywood Beach so peaceful. I'm sure there are times when it gets busy here, but with all of the space available, I can't imagine it being packed like the nearby beaches in Santa Barbara. If you're looking for a delicious breakfast, the Hollywood Beach Café is just down the street. I'd highly recommend them as breakfast was amazing there. Really happy that I stopped by to enjoy this beauty. I can add this beach to this great list of secluded beaches that I've discovered on the coast. read more

These days are really high temperature in The Valley. Last Sunday we decided to take a break and enjoy the beach. Oxnard was the option because it is easy to park and I discovered two beaches they accept dogs! It is the first time Rory enjoy the beach. It is really nice and cool in Hollywood Beach. It is close to the harbor, many restaurants close to, and Sunday there is farmers market. It is worth to spend time there. Just family. I have checked on website information three times about dogs and I saw many on the beach last Sunday. Nobody said anything opposite yo us. read more

This beach is awesome, because the sand is dredge, unlike the Ventura beach, the parking is free as of now and there are a few restaurants, convenient and coffee shop close by. Its also close to the harbor where you can rent a boat for a few hours and jet ski. On a nice day you will see sailing, para sailing, a few dolphins, sea lions and you might catch my little one flying her kite. There are 2 public restroom on the beach, one location is at the park and the other you can find a facility on the sand near the Hollywood Beach Cafe. There is a hotel called the Embassy Suites if you plan to stay awhile, which has a lovely pool and bike rentals for the family. During Covid19 this beach was full as you can imagine, since there wasn't much else to do. There was law enforcement to ensure safety, patrolling the area. Police were on bikes, horses, golf carts, cars and on foot. There are some good bike and walking paths for exercise. During the week you will see yoga and fitness trainers utilizing the beautiful grass areas. Prior to Covid19 you would see the volleyball and soccer teams practicing nearby. Also, there is one of the best parks close by and a farmer market on Sunday mornings. read more

Just about the best you're gonna do in SoCal to avoid the crowds at the beach. Waters aren't as wavy as say, Manhattan, but it can get a bit rough during windy days. On certain times a lot of driftwood can wash up, and few occasions those pesky mini-beach flies won't leave your feet alone. But in general can't ask for more; a wide, sparsely populated beach. Peaceful and quiet, unheard of in SoCal. Farmers market on weekend just across the way, and several quaint eateries and snack bars, mini-mart, you name it are just few minutes walking away from the beach (5 to 15 radius). Good water to swim in, clean and no seaweed. No foul smell of weed stench, sewer, whale piss, or ass. Best thing is the PARKING. Free right on the adjacent streets. No hassle, no climbing up and down hills or crowded walkways to get here. Only thing I don't like is there are no restrooms. You have to walk about 1/2 mile up past the Mandalay-Not-Bay hotel there's one and that's about it. Good luck trying to hold-in #2. Hollywood Beach is probably the best beach in SoCal that I have ever seen with its prodigious white soft sand, dunes and harbor view. Hollywood Beach in Oxnard is located on the south end of the peninsula that separates Channel Islands Harbor from the ocean. The beach is wide and about a mile long. Because of this huge sandy expanse, it won't be crowded. Homes are packed together all along the back of Hollywood Beach that makes it feel like you're in a resort like private/secluded beach. Furthermore, there were few lifeguard towers, trash bins, no outdoor shower and no public restrooms. I enjoyed spending my day playing beach volleyball and hanging out with friends. I noticed some locals and visitors go fishing, it must be a good spot to catch fishes. Anyhow, access to the beach is via many streets between West Channel Islands Boulevard and the harbor channel. Parking is available along Ocean Drive and the side streets, and also in the huge free harbor parking lots along Harbor Boulevard. Overall I highly recommend spending a couple of hours to a full day at the beach. read more

3.5-4 stars. It's beautiful. Soft, white sand. Fairly gentle waves and good for swimming (although it water was cold in September). Quiet. Fairly private - with folks mostly coming from the homes nearby. So why only 3.5-4 stars instead of 5? Tar. Tar particles from oil refineries. I've never seen this before. But it tripped me out once I stepped in some tar and my foot had residual black ovals on it. To be clear, it's not like it is everywhere, but if you're walking continuously for 10 minutes you're likely to step in tar maybe 3-5 times. I feel bad for Oxnard and Hollywood Beach. It's certainly not their fault. read more

4.5 for this beach. It's the fall season so obviously we didn't go swimming, but surprisingly it was clean this time around. There wasn't a bunch of seaweed, driftwood or even tar. The water is really cold, but it's always cold. There's a good amount of parking that you can find near or around the beach's entrance. If you just want to sit out in a beach chair and enjoy the waves crashing now is the best time to go. read more

Hollywood Beach is a hidden jewel on the Southern California coast. Right next to the Channel Islands Marina and loaded with GREAT restaurants and cafes. Before 9 and after 5 the beach is dog friendly. LOVE this place! read more

This beach would be ok if it wasn't for tar particles that wash up from the oil refineries. The tar sticks to your body and will not come off unless you wash off with degreaser. Very sad to see the water washing up looking almost black looking, leaving behind yellow foam as it withdraws. Not very sanitary or safe. Can't believe the city tolerates this environmental hazard and injustice. read more

The best domestic beach I've ever been to. Absolutely beautiful, somehow always empty, tons of free parking. I had no problem finding it. Lots of beautiful houses to walk around and see. It's actually so quiet it's scary. Sooooo relaxing. Palm & boy is a cute place closeby with yummy acai bowls. Dogs are welcome! I came here on a friday in July, perfect weather, maybe saw 5 people on the beach at most. You can't get any better than that. I love this place so much. It's my happy place. read more

Decided to go to the beach this past Saturday with my family. The drive there is decent ample FREE parking close to the beach. We get to the beach and literally NO ONE there... on a Saturday and a holiday weekend that is unheard of. Nice and quiet beautiful waves. We even saw two groups of dolphins hoping in and out of the water. This place is beautiful. The only con is the walk from the sand beginning to the water is a little far but nothing that would stop me from coming back. read more

Like this beach a lot better than Silverstrand as it's not as crowded; there's tons of free street parking nearby and it's right next to the harbor in case you get hungry. It's not as clean as the PCH beaches, but we come here every time we decide to go to a Ventura beach instead of a Malibu one. read more
