Only way to access it is by taking Victoria all the way to the end with a sharp right onto San Nicholas before Victoria turns into Roosevelt and there's a small public parking lot at the end on the left. There are bathrooms which are pretty nice for public beach bathrooms and the beach is so nice here! Sand is clean, beach is wide... If the lot is full you can try to find parking on San Nicholas or on Ocean where there are several little beach access points between the homes... Also if you drive all the way down ocean, at the very end, at the last house there's a hidden road that looks like a private driveway but it's not, turn right, it's long and tight, and it will take you to another small beach parking lot!! A hidden gem! There's even a public bathroom out on the sand, a bit of a walk from the lot and very clean! Highly recommend!

The beach is also home to 100s of squrriels. I have never seen a baby squrriel till now. Like I said 100s of them. Some are fat and some are about 3 inches in size. They hide in the rocks and under the rocks. All very tame and not afraid of you. The waves can be great. Lots of lifegaurds in case you get stuck. There is plenty of parking. Now as I visit as a (dare I say..."Tourist") I get to enjoy the beach full time. Why is this one the best you ask? Well, it stretches out for about 50 feet before the water gets deep. This makes it perfect for kids who want to play in water but can't swim. Also the parking is only $2 per hour. And it's normally extremely chill here. Never too busy or crowded. The seafood restaurant is also really great and fresh! I love it here and if I was rich I'd buy a home across the street.

From the strip of beautiful beachfront homes, to the cleanly combed sand, there is a lot of space at this beach. The fore shore has a wide dry beach and wet beach area. When you walk from the street to the shoreline, there is plenty of real estate to pitch a tent and claim your area for the day. The wet beach has a gradual slope, and is wide. Which allows for great runs along the wash. Public restrooms are near for the basic necessities. You also can make your way to the marina for food and drinks, as well as additional restrooms. For the grown folks, you can walk down to the Infamous Rudder Room. Regardless of where you decide to plant your flag, you'll enjoy your time at Hollywood Beach. Take a stroll and see why this place was called, Hollywood By the Sea.

Some local beaches are starting to charge, but this one still offers PLENTY of free parking. In addition, there are multiple playgrounds - including a pirate galleon from when the park was established during my childhood, a THOUSAND years ago! It doesn't have the zip line that caused me to smash my leg into the concrete side, leaving a still visible scar 1,000 years later, which is probably for the best, but a kinder/gentler playground with more modern amenities for today's active child. There is also an expansive grass area, where you will find many local pups bounding about with joy. On the grassy areas, BBQs! Also a protected, man made beach cove with an easy enter, small to no wave water entry. Lots of families prefer to set up their space on the green grass and then make their way to the beach, which is an ideal way to have your picnic sand free! A foot shower is also available to rinse the beach off before you settle back onto your blanket. Plenty of benches, tables and a bathroom that is, if I'm being completely honest, acceptable, but could use an upgrade. If you're more active, make your way to the public dock to launch your kayak, paddle board, etc. I've also seen people fishing from this dock and launching remote control boats - so cute! If you haven't brought your own board or boat, there is a rental kiosk handily available. This is also a great park to stroll through. A clear path goes from the parking lot to the tip of the Ventura Harbor entrance, known as Soter Point, where a beautiful sculpture stands. When I think of the perfect beach park, I think of Marina Park in Ventura. Cheers! "CC"
