Ololkoy Beach Park aka Oxnard Beach Park is the perfect spot to come for a run or workout by the beach. Not too big of a park, just right. I came here over the weekend for a 5k run and absolutely loved it. The weather was great and the grounds were nice and flat which was perfect for running. I loved that we could smell the ocean and for a short distance past the sandy dunes you could see it. This park had plenty of parking, even for a big group event. Signage was clear and they had plenty of restrooms and covered patio tables and benches. We came earlier on a Saturday because of the run and it was a fairly quiet park. No kids out yet but plenty of runners and walkers all around. It felt safe and comfortable. Definitely a park I'd come back to so that I can get a good workout done. You can never go wrong with a park with an ocean breeze and beautiful palm trees. read more

I visited 'Ololkoy Beach today on Cinco de Mayo. It's been recently renamed in an effort to give Ventura County more Chumash names. I got a better look at the grassy lawn areas, the BBQ area and the playground. Since it's May, no one was on the beach itself. Everyone was enjoying the park. There were some dance or cheer groups practicing in the volleyball sanded areas and another group of people were on the lawn with a ladder probably doing some sort of team building. There was a huge family gathering at the BBQ area and as other comments had said, there was a sign advertising that it's $300 to rent the picnic tables and BBQ site. There is a pirate ship themed playground complete with a sea monster for kids to crawl under and on. There are 2 parking lots and they cost $1 per hour. I parked in the residential area and walked into the pathway that runs back behind the park area. I walked the path out just a little bit but because it was so windy, it was not enjoyable. I walked just a little bit out on the beach and the wind was picking up so much sand that it was hitting me and felt like little ants biting me. So I quickly turned back to get on the pathway. I saw most people wearing hoodies and jackets still in May due to this wind. Definitely not ready for beach season. read more

'olokoy Beach Park , as it is now called ! Has won Best Beach in California for the second year in a row-2023 and 2024. A much deserved accolade! I much rather come to this beach in Oxnard than any other in Ventura County , SB or LA. This beach is clean and not over crowded at all. There's a paid parking area but also tons of free parking at certain lots. If you're a local .. you'll know where they are ;) I am often here on walks as one of my favorite walking routes is .. starting at Seabridge Marina, walking through Channel Islands Harbor and passing through this beach , down through the neighborhood and back . It's a long lovely walk. Growing up , we loved BBQ-ing here or having a picnic. There are areas you can rent with a seating area and there's bathrooms. I believe you can also pay for a permit to have a jolly jump ( bouncing house ) on the park. Just a an awesome place for a gathering. Happy not many know about this beach and most go to Ventura. Hope it stays a secret . Sunsets here are also so so so gorgeous ! read more

Beautiful beaches, sparkling clean sand and water, and not super crowded; Oxnard Beach Park beats almost any beach in LA County hands down. You'll see sand dunes, seagulls, and surf. Great views of the Channel Islands on a clear day. I have to say I didn't see any lifeguards on duty; swim at your own risk. Three hour paid parking ($1.00/hour, credit card only) in the lot. Restrooms and drinking fountains available. I visited on a Sunday; it appears a church holds their Sunday service in the park itself. Personally, I was visiting just for the beach and found it absolutely stunning. Highly recommended. read more

I've taken my baby Milo to this beach multiple times and his always had a good time. Unfortunately on 04/09/2022 We arrived at the beach around 4:30 put his leash on and a couple minutes later as we were walking towards the beach he was viciously attacked by an unleashed dog. Oxnard Beach Park is a public beach park operated and maintained by the city of Oxnard. With direct access to the beach, the park features plenty of lawn space, free public barbeques with most tables that are spread around the area, kids play area, and palm tree lined pathways good for walking, jogging, running, biking and more. The grounds do need a bit of work as the grass could have been nicer/better but it's still a very nice park. There's two covered group picnic areas which were closed off during the time I was here, but they featured plenty of space to host any type of events. The park is dog friendly and pets must be on a leash. Parking is not free and can be paid via cash/coins and card. It's $1 per hour and $5 all day. read more

The playground and surrounding grass area was full of trash the play equipment is rusted and there is missing parts and instead of replacing equipment the city put up wood boards it's gross , and someone decided to leave their dirty old toys there which makes it look even trasher . And the slider the kids hang on is so rusted n old it doesn't slide probably, the city should act fast it's an embarrassment. One of the best beaches in Ventura or the more crowded LA county. It seems unknown and Iess crowded although the beach is as wide as many east coast beaches. You can see the Channel Islands on clear days and the waves are larger than the typical west coast beach. When no one is in the water you'll see an occasional seal or dolphin. I think the beach is closed from mid March to mid September because this is a primary seal breeding ground. Great sand dunes hide the beach from the nearby road and park so you feel isolated. As an East Coast beacher, this was as close to an east coast beach I've ever encountered out West. Very clean, beautiful shade of sand and water temp in the low 70s end of September. I was in the water for an hour without a body suit and never felt cold. Not many convenience stores around so bring some goodies. read more

Amazing Beach. I really like well maintained beaches in the coast. The water looked clean, the sand had no trash nor did it had piles of dried up seaweed. I like that they have this plastic boardwalk for people to like walk more easily on sand, although it doesn't take you all the way down to the shore but halfway is very helpful and convenient. 20+ years ago I may have given this park a perfect 5 stars. This park and beach were in regular circulation of spots for my friends, family and I to hang out and have random picnics and BBQs. Recently, I have made my way back here because I live pretty close by and I was stunned to find that the grassy areas were all yellow, or at least majority of them were. It hasn't been hot and we are no longer in a "drought" so I wonder why it isn't its usually lush green. Anyways, that was what stuck out to me most. Although, there are 2 bathrooms that I know of, one at the park near the roofed picnic and BBQ areas and then one just before entering the beach. I really wished there was a bathroom at the other side of the park, opposite of the other park bathroom. There is the addition of what I call the "Pirate Park" which is a ship shaped playground. It is super fun and cute for the kids to play on and parents/grandparents can take cute pics of their kids on there. 1.) First and foremost... BUY A PARKING PERMIT. These machines now take credit card/debit card. Not just cash. There is no excuse to not get one unless you have neither. It's $8/day or about $2/hr. Just get the $8/day permit. You will lose track of time unless you set an alarm on your phone. 2.) Get there early on weekends and holidays. These spaces fill out fast. There are a few picnic tables with a grill near by, grab one that is free and then DO NOT LEAVE YOUR POST unless you have someone to cover your post. 3.) Bring extra trash bags. The trash cans fill fast and they attract seagulls. 4.) Bring a cooler with TONS of ice if you plan on being at the park all day, or for a few hours. Make sure you have stocked plenty of water to stay hydrated as it can get hot and the sun exposure will dehydrate you. 5.) Pack tablecloths (fabric or plastic to cover up the tables, because they will not be clean), lawn chairs, blankets, beach towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat, flip flops, extra toilet paper (the bathrooms run out), wipes, antibacterial liquid, cash/money 6.) Take a photo of the area you are and then text it to friends and family so they can easily find you when they get there. 7.) If you do forget to bring something or need to buy something before you get to the beach or even after you have chosen a spot, there are a couple of grocery stores near by. On Channel Islands Blvd, there is a Ralph's and on Victoria Blvd there is a Von's in the Seabridge area. And there are some smaller liquor stores, donut shops and restaurants surrounding the park/beach. This is one of the nicer parks/beaches in the area, so it's no surprise that this place can get packed. Always be courteous and make sure to clean up your mess, don't break any glass, especially in the grassy or beach area. There are a tons of families with kids that trek through those areas, so please be mindful of that. Also, because people are constantly walking through the parking lots lugging things around, drive very slow through the parking lot so you don't accidentally run anyone over... I've seen this almost happen a ton of times. Also, cops come through here frequently, which is nice. It gives the park/beach a sense of security knowing that police come through regularly. Oxnard Beach Park has playground equipment, grills, sand volleyball, plenty of open space, and bathrooms. I like this deep uncrowded beach (even during the summer you can get a nice spot). Excellent place to spend the day without the crowds. We are able to take our dogs and walk them on the beach. There is parking that you have to pay for but it's only a dollar an hour which is so worth it when you can park anywhere over there and not be bothered by the crowds. read more

This was our second time here, but I really liked it better than other beach areas I have been to in Oxnard. A tip I found from the first time is they have two parking areas. If you go to the first one on the right you are farther from the beach, if you want to be closer drive in and park at the second parking lot. When we got there parking was fine, but later in the day when we left it was packed. There is a charge using machines so bring a five or ones with you because the machine I used didn't give change. The park has tables and areas to have picnics and a play area for the kids. The beach is close to the park area probably starts around a hundred yards away. The beach itself is huge....wide and long. Seemed sort of clean, but I haven't found a pristine beach in SoCal ever so it was fine. Plenty of room meant you didn't have to be right on top of anyone else. We brought our Boston Terrier, but read it was an on-leash beach so we kept her on her leash. It was nice and fun for her and us. read more

This park is definitely a hidden gem! We rented out a shelter here so we could make a pit stop and eat our lunch. Unfortunately, they don't accept credit cards. We had a party of about 40 people. We've been looking for a new park/beach to have our annual family get-together at since the other park we frequent has been extremely crowded and the bathroom situation simply awful. After hearing about how large and lovely Oxnard Beach Park was, we decided to check it out. We parked on the street as I heard there was a few to park in the park's lot. We were here early on a Sunday, so the place was quiet, only some joggers present. The grounds are pretty vast and green. There is a park area for the little ones to play in. Covered areas with benches can be reserved in advance (for a fee) for those that need it. The beach adjoins the park; you can access it down a pathway through the mini sand dunes. The beach was deserted that morning and it was overcast and beautiful. White sand and clean water. I hope we can check this place out with the fam bam soon. The only pitfall I see right now is the bathroom situation again. There are two separate bathroom areas but each only has 1 stall. I could see this quickly becoming a nightmare on those busy, BBQ weekends. read more

I like coming here to walk on the beach or walk around the park. The beach is dog friendly. You can walk along the beach path or just along the park itself. You do have to pay for parking!! So don't forget your change because the machine does not give change back. There are two public restrooms located in the park, one is near the parking lot and the other is closer to the beach. The restrooms are decent. It's kept clean for the most part and I haven't had any concerns yet. The playground is a decent size and full of activities for your kids. I do like the fact that this park is pretty busy and there are a lot of friendly people walking around. There are a lot of places to sit and do yoga or exercise. We went to a friends bbq on Easter Sunday and this park was packed. They charge for parking but there wasn't any parking spots available. We had to park along a side street in the beach community located next to the park. They had a few port a potties available. There was a pirate themed jungle gym area for the kids. There was only one available bbq area with 3 bbq's and some tables and a covered patio. The sign said $300 deposit and $300 fee for holidays and $100 on any other days. Wow! What's beautiful park! The play structure is massive!!! It has varying skill areas, and is over that soft bouncy turf that is so great. No woodchips or sand- the sand is at the beach! The playground could use more shade. It gets pretty hot in the direct heat. There is a lot of space for playing on the grass and having picnics. Dunes are really fun to explore with kids.
